But this photo appeared in the Asahi Graph, a weekly photo journal, published in Japan on Nov 10, 1937, about one month before Nanking battle. But he was an advisor to the Chinese Nationalist government’s Ministry of Information. The section was propaganda section which was established by KMT (Kuomintang, Chiang Kai-shek) in China during the War. Timperley was paid by the propaganda section for writing the book.

In fact Nanking lost much more than 300000 civilians during wwii. Go look at any encyclopedia except japanese and chinese(as they are concerned, for objectivity we should not take their versions), still no one doubt its existance

@undertakerRach It is not difficult to kill 7000+ people per day. As long as the army is not ruled by law and has free reign it would be quite simple to find thousands of people to kill. Remember that China has one of the largest populations of people in the world. It would take a lot of bullets, but definitely possible. Even if it was less than 300,000 it doesn't make it any less of an atrocity. Japanese soldiers killed civilians ON PURPOSE, not by accident. That is the main distinction.

People got out of the holes in the ground thinking that the threat of air raid was over. Then the aircrafts went to the east and turn around several times over Okayama and got back to Hiroshima.
