I never really heard of them being called pop punk but they are the same kind of genre as blink and green day (especially with Mike being in the band) so you can call them whatever you want. At the end of the day it doesn't matter at all, either you like their music or you don't, there's no need to argue over genres.

Green day is more on the line between rock and pop rock than on the line between punk and pop punk. Green Day may have been a punk band, but they're not anymore. Listen to some "real" punk like Dead Kennedys, Adolescents, Descendants, The Exploited, stuff like that, then listen to "new" Green Day stuff.

But punk music ranging anywhere from horror to hardcore punk are bands like you said Adolescents, Dead Kennedys, Descendants, Exploited and bands like Minor Threat, Black Flag, Bad Brains, G.B.H., Circle Jerks, Germs, Agent Orange, 7Seconds, the Casualties etc. There's a huge difference between the bands you listed and I listed than that of green day.
