  • Great drumming keep going

  • What are you tryin' to prove? That you're really good? Well then, you've succeded!

  • Nice!!

  • Very nice!Bravo!

  • Yeah, I enjoyed that. After putting in the work to get this good, I would guess this was a fun song to play.

  • Men! YOU ARE GREAT!

  • Damn it man, the beginning is missing !

  • hell yeah...nice job!

  • I was waiting for the section at 2.11 here and it was below what i expected and rest of it you did fabulously, i believe you have definitely improved the cover since then.

Good Wishes to the talented drummer here.

  • Dude, that was an awesome job. You had the feel, and the pocket down perfectly. Enjoyed it all the way through. Although, it angers me to see that 10 people didn't like this video. Can you say Crackhead?

  • great work man

  • Very very nice, loved it

  • Damn good....I pplay bass and enjoy a good drummer. Loving that snare.....

  • sh*t yeah!! nice job dude, dont really rekon you need to "loosen up", think thats just some people's style.

  • solid drummer.... good future ahead of you.

  • YOu are very good!!!

  • Nice drumming, but way too much high end Eq on the recording! cut make some of the high's and it will sound better imo.

    Nice work otherwise.

  • Great playing man, Question: I downloaded the Tal CD from ITunes because I literally fell in love w/ her watching the Jeff Beck Blue Ray (Vinnie, you lucky Dawg...).. the track ur playing has drums on it already, did you find a version minus drums, or are you playing on top of the existing drum track? I don't hear the backing track underneath your playing, it's seamless. Great job, very impressive.

  • Amazing dude! Even if this is a little dated, you nailed it.

  • Yeah!!!! Do you live in Italy? I have lost my drummer... :)

  • Just this: W O W

  • awesome drumming... i'm glad i stumbled onto your channel... i've subscribed...

    take good care and peaCe2U...

  • I just fckg love an excellent drummer!! Put all the posted nitpicking criticism aside....and know...YOU'VE GOT IT! Don't stop; the people need good music.

  • dude....this is awesome....great f'n job....totally awesome....can't believe this is the first time i saw you....i'm subscribing! and I'm not even a drummer! (love the drums though) keep it coming....

  • Beautiful drumming sir! Way not to go overboard but still be present

  • great stuff!

  • Nice playing dude...Im a drummer...just got wind of Tal....shes the bomb...cdant wait to get on my set a groove to her tunes...keep it up

  • question, what's the cymbal you're using at around 1:37 ?

  • @Jamoization I'm not sure but maybe an old avedis ride

  • wow this was great. you gave me some pretty good ideas

  • Good work! Keep drumming! =D

  • are those sm 57s on your toms

  • i saw all of your videos. you've got a pro sound. keep rockin' man

    PS Katatonia rulez

  • This dude is so dedicated and talented that I think he should play with Tal!

  • way to go bro hats off to good cracked the song, superbly except at 1:36 otherwise well done kudos.

  • Great playing! You sound like you are in the "groove" Do you have anything that is current?

  • nice drum set ... also your playing jejej

  • What kind of kit? Snare? Cymbals? Nice job man. Keep it up.

  • wow!

  • Your set its a beast! and you are amaizing! Got a beautiful groove. Nice song btw :)

  • I think you're a mar-vel-lous drummer, Chris! I'm a huge fan of Tal and her songs (me bassplayer). Her compositions are intelligent but spontaneous, played with th heart, with love for music and performing. She's - spoken like Jeff Beck, who gave her opportunities and presented her to a large audience - a supertalent. You perfectly feel the/her groove, the changes, details...Tal should be flattered and proud! Are you a pro? I guess so! Best regards, Arthur, The Netherland

  • very, very nice - cream in the ears,,,

  • You and Tal are both talented.

  • As a drummer for 30 years and enthralled with what Tal is doing it's just fantastic to see a young player playing real music! Great job! A little out of sync after 2:04 for a while but man you got it!!

  • I love this! cool playing, great sound, and really groovin..... I wanna a drummer like you!

  • Beautiful, love it man, SUCH a cool song and you groove so nicely!

  • very, very, entertaining.............great chops, nice work man.

  • great!!

  • great!!

  • really good chops. your kit looks like it would be fun to play i like the 2 rides.

  • What is your aux ride? Avedis? Very nice work dude, love your drumming!

  • Do this again, now that you are 2 years older...

  • awesome! you sound great

  • your sound and playing are great! One criticism though. I think during the solos (especially the piano one) you are overplaying a little bit. Maybe would have been nicer to let up a little and let us hear the solos. Overwise, this is awesome!

  • Since this video was done 2 years ago, what if you record the same song now, I would like to here it now that you are two years more experienced.

  • fantastic drumming. How long have you been playing drums?

  • Great drumming! Wish I could play like that...

  • Please play some Guthrie Govan material!!!! You are fantastic!

  • sweet drumming - you're definitely on your way brother. keep it up!

  • great sound !

  • dude, greaaaaaaaat playing, congratulations

  • Your kit sounds pretty good. Probably one of my favorite Tal Wilkenfeld songs

  • Wow nice work!

  • Awesome playing. And I LOVE your snare sound.

  • Awesome man, truly great and difficult stuff

  • Really great video man. You've got some serious talent. I freakin' love that cd.

  • GREAT PLAYING...

  • You've got everything down... now let yourself go feel and have fun with it!!!!

  • Damn dude. Awesome drumming. Much enjoyed.

  • You drum for 2 years and you have such a kit and drum like that ? I think someone is not really being totally honest ... :D

  • its possible

  • i agree no way u can haev that much control of your bodya in two years unless you decided to play nonstop

  • Damn. You're sound is killer! And so is your playing

  • yeah! nice playing!

  • Keith would be proud. I cant wait for the next Tal album

  • wowowoooooow yeaaaah!!

  • Love the way you tracked your kit. Can you share what effects you used? Obviously your kit must have been tuned really well.

  • WAIT! You've only been playing 2 years?

WTF am I doing watching this and not in the shed...

I hate you by the way

  • Awesome! i prefer more delicate ghosting, but that's trademark of Keith Carlock. Awesome to hear it from another drummer! good work!!!!

  • I have never seen such fluid, natural and exciting drumming as this - I salute you sir! You surely have a golden career ahead of you - use your talent!!!!

  • Jeezz, this is just phenomenal!!!! I totally agree with larrivee7, You should be pro!!! :-)

  • I find it difficult to believe that someone that plays for only a couple of years has such a drumkit cause that's no cheap stuff hmm.. guess i'm just jealous :s ohh your good too

  • i find it hard to believe you;ve only been playin for 2 years. great video

  • love the wet n slappy snare sound u went for :o)

  • I simply like! More Please.

  • excellent!

  • Great Job.

  • what kind of mics do you used?

  • read the video description

  • I don't often comment on videos, but I am very impressed with your attention to detail as well as overall syncopation. Phenomenal job !!!! If you don't play for a living - you should.

  • parabens cara! muito legal!!!!

  • good tempo

  • If you don't mind my asking, how did you cut the 4 mini-chimes from the larger crashes? They would be perfect for a solo I'm doing. Did you do it yourself, or is it professionally done?

  • great sound.

  • MAN OH MAN!!!! Awesome! you are awesome!

  • You should be gigging! You are one of a few...

  • Oh my god.. I`m something like that right now... :O :O :)) I don`t know what to say... but man... you have great skills...after 2 years... just Wow ... did you learn alone... or with a teacher? I will wait... your answerd because you are amazing :D. Great Sound, Great Played and Great DRUMS. Keep up the good work. 5 stars

  • great, but u seem really tense when u play, u should loosten up dude

  • thanks for checking me out :) I did this video almost a year ago, and it was everything i could do just to BS my way through the song! My hands were probably pretty cramped afterwards, no doubt. I've definitely progressed in that area, but still a ways to go (as far as LOOKING loose, in addition to playing loose)

  • yea dude i looked at ur other vids, u have ur time fucking down, ur a dam metronome, i hope ur in a band m8

  • @paisteguy799 ..humm I thought he looked so loose and relaxed

  • Don't particularly care if you've played for 2 years or 20 years.

    If you're good,you're good!

I've played a long time, and for me,you are very good!

    all the best......peace

  • You say you've only been playing two years on this video, bullshit I don't believe that. You are a good player but playing like that at two years is normally not possible

  • With practice any thing is possible

  • my sentiments exactly

  • Excellent technique. Great use of wrist versus arm. One suggestion, Try using one mic in the middle of the mounted toms instead of one on each. you'll get less phase cancellation, it's amazing what a difference it makes. Try it & post what you think.

  • Great !!!!

    greetzzz

    Luca

  • You had a sonor S-class pro and u'd been playing for just under 2 years?? You are very lucky! And a good choice. I didn't have a kit until i'd been playing for 4 years, might have helped if i did! Very impressive by the way.

  • mmmmmmmmmmm there some tastey groves lol.....great playing keep it up man love to see u make more vids

  • oh brother, your drum kit sounds espectacular, congratulations!

  • very impressive. nice groove and pocket. keep at it.

  • thank you man :) i certainly will

  • @CrispyRocksEnt Damnit. Sorry. Totoally meant to vote that comment up and clicked the wrong button.

  • the best man! great groove

  • Bravo, Bravo and Bravo!!!

  • Man, you have true talent. Never, EVER give this up. =)

  • Really great playing- making it look oh so easy...the sign of a real pro!

  • Nice job, man!

  • Wait... you'd only been playing 2 years here?

Wow... wtf? I'll see you jamming live with Tal soon probably. :)

  • thanks man :) hopefully jamming with her, and then taking her out to dinner!! haha

  • Dude your going places you have lots of talent. Let me know how dinner goes with Tal. I would just order for her and sit there and watch her eat. That would satisfy me.

  • That sounds kind of creepy. lol. I'd eat too so she wouldn't feel weird. ;)

  • You really do nail this song dude. Incredible.

  • Incredible drumming, and incredible bass playing!

    :)

  • really good playing keep it up

  • You´ra amazing, man!

    Tanks for this video!

  • oh yea...

  • dude u got the groove!

  • that is one funky beat!

  • Nice work and drum sound. What mics are you using? 57's? What processing are you doing cuz I love the drum sound.

  • nice job man ... on a related note , i want to marry tal wilkenfeld

  • Comment removed

  • don't we all?

  • One hell of a great drum sound!

    Very well played. 5*

  • nice work, im learning this, the vid helps. great album eh?

  • Great job man!

  • Great playing man.

You might want to work on your pocket a little more (atleast for this tune)

Your a little too on the straight side while this tune is swung like a mother fucker!

  • true true. WAY swings, but like the man said, great playing. :)

  • You really understand this song well! Great job! Jazz/Fusion isn't easy...not just straight forward drumming...lots of complex changes and each instrument is equally important to make the music work. You nailed it brotha!

  • thanks very much! I'm learning more every day, and i feel like i've progressed miles since recording this :)

  • Dude, I've been offered a S class kit for a decent price and have been umming and ahing about for some time.. This clip (and your others) has convinced me to take up the offer. Can't wait to get my hands on it now! Cheers matey :)

  • yeh i have an old 1990s s/class kit and can strongly recomend them...go for it!!

  • this is just great playin man!

  • just professional playing. excelent groove and tempo

  • awesome bro!!!very nice !!!and your sound is great!!!

  • awesome playing chris !!! loved ur style, just wondering what hi hats u were using? Thanks jim

  • wow.. you have a wonderful playing style, it looks great! do you mind if i ask - you seem to hold the sticks quite low down.. i have a natural tendency to do that but try not to because my teacher tells me i won't find the fulcrum or whatever.. is that bollocks?

  • thanks :) i don't really feel like it's anything special, especially my grip! That ties into your question about the fulcrum point - It's something i'm constantly aware of, and trying to work on. If you're hitting hard with a closed grip, more than likely you're playing towards the low end of the sticks. More weight, more power, but you're almost entirely using your wrists for those motions. An open, loose, higher-up grip is difficult to master, because it forces you to use your fingers.

  • Great playing. Excellent sound. 5 stars.

  • great playing dude.

this music makes me laugh, its like the stuff of drum instructional vids.

  • I think you sound great and have nice fluid mechanics. In fact I saw Keith Carlock with Tal and Krantz recently and am more impressed by you HERE than I was of Mr. Carlock. My only question is - do you really need that many cymbals? I recently saw Eric Slick w/ the Adrian Belew Power Trio playing a VERY basic kit (tom, standing tom, snare, hi-hat, crash and ride) and his performance was one of the most impressive I've seen of a young drummer in YEARS. You seem to have the ability to do similarly

  • your a wonderful player and all of your equipment sounds class A.

  • this is great. nice work, dude. i can't believe you've only been playing a couple years (?!!).

  • VERY nice work. Great style and great song to play to. Keep up the good work.

  • Ive played for over 30 years ,so I know ,Dude you got it. I like the the way you know how to use you left leg ,so many players dont.

  • Nice cover man, great sounding drums, well recorded and played, Tal's an amzing individual, Vinnie toured with her here in Aus, well done!

  • Muy buen video!!

    Que bateria usas?

    What is your drum set?

  • Lee la descripcion ahi esta todo su eqipo

  • It's always so cool to watch drummers perform their art...nice job, man.

  • nice set!!! is that a sonor (s-class or something like that) ?? I love Zildjian!! I have them too and they sound fantastic!! great playing !!

(Sorry for my english, it's not the best... i'm from Germany )

  • cool - you have a very nice sound. It seems (from my perspective as bass player) many drummers unfortunately don't care too much about how they sound..

  • agreed! it's also relatively difficult to get a drum set to sound REALLY good, since there are so many different variations of kits and heads, and it really takes a while to understand what you (as the drummer) want your kit to sound like. Along with that, tuning is a difficult thing to wrap your head around! There truly are thousands of combinations, and really no "right" way to do it. Just trust your ears :)

    take care

  • you playing very good drum! waht cymbals have you? sorry my english is bad . salutatory from switzerland

  • Dude, you are the man! You've inspired me to do better!

  • Hey I'm Agate on the PDF,

I have to watch this vid evry now and then, its soo good to watch.

What heads are you using in this vid? I love the tom tone.

    Thanks

  • You just keep getting better, btw nice mixig on the drums.

  • Pay no attention to the haters man!

Your feel & timing are awesome & the quality of this recording is superb.

    Keep the music alive man.

    God, luv & happiness......Peace!

  • Im fucken impressed by that video....you really started plaing drums from December 2006? If thats true you are genius...awesome work man:]!

  • RICH? How the hell can you say that? Because i have a "nice kit" or obviously have a passion for something and want to do it the right way???

For your information, i've worked my ass off to afford everything you see here...nobody's given me ANYTHING, and i've gone above and beyond my own financial resources to pursue what i care about. anything else you want to tear down?

  • yeah you tell him!

  • C'mon, I was just joking with ya!

By the way, how do you tune your snare drum?

    Please, I NEED that sound!

  • hey men nice if can help you im just read your description of the video im when i play latin styles i use the clave in two compases instead one thats were part of the swing is i dnt know if that can help you in latin styles i know this piece its like funky style just for help. Well i think you play awesome if you like latins feels at 6/8 i have a bunch of styles in that compases like bembe, san millan, gaita, joropo, and manny manny more y have even rythyms at 5/8 sorry about my english. XD

  • Really now if he had a cheap kit you would rag on that to. He has nice shit and the skills to with it.

  • drummers and all musicains take note everything in music should come from the heart and with no rite or wrong just play and be heard....fuck politics that people are trying to put in music just do ya dayuum thing ya diggzz no matter what it takes keep at it..... FrOm A bLaC yOuNg NiGgAh great play brah...!!!!! ya did it with ya own twist and u did it without double kick hahaha my man

  • Ok. Good God. At 1:36, you have perfect sound on every single freakin thing. You should be proud of that shit. The music opens up perfectly for that ride with a sizzler on it. Favorite part of the whole bit. Good job on the rest though too.

  • Great playing there, mate. I think your set is somehow a bit aggressive for this kind of music though. Cheers

  • Excellent.

  • what heads do use for resos? emporors again?

    ambassadors?

  • on this video, clear ambassadors for 10" tom, clear emperors on top of 12 and 14" toms, and clear ambassadors on bottom for all.

  • thanks

  • yo u keep good pocket
