I am a graduate student for speech pathology. I am currently in a class that is totally dedicated to the cleft palate. Thank you for talking about your SCP. We constantly learn about the anatomy, surgeries, and treatments. However, we rarely see the human side of a cleft palate. Thanks for the insight!
@watermelonroks1 Yeah, my cleft palate is the reason why I talk very softly, the only suggestion that I could help you is to contact a speech pathologist. (which I did) It made my speech a lot clearer than it was about 2 years ago. I hope this advice helps. =)
Hey there. I also had a cleft palate that was repaired at 19. I agree, it's frustrating as you encounter (I know I did!!) some rude people who feel it is their right to ask "Why do you talk like that?"; but listen, you speak beautifully and clearly and those who love you don't hear an impediment at all. Best of luck, be proud of your voice. :-)
very informative, this will really help a lot of people. Keep up the good work! And I hope your therapy helps you, although I think you sound just fine. Thanks for sharing,
my voice sounds like nasally kinda like yours no offence but have u ever had a gf/bf no trying to be mean i just wanna see if i could get one even with my voice

@rozz2656 I don't take that as offense. =)
Yes, you can have a Bf/Gf with a voice "like" mine.

@rozz2656 Yes I have had a few guys tell me they liked my unique voice and that they found it cute/charming like any unusual or individual trait.

Good explanation of your condition. I notice that your speech is affected to some degree. Hopefully the speech therapy will do the trick.

There's nothing wrong with the way you talk.
