  • No wonder Kenny G selected this one . I do like the Kenny G version , but it pales by comparison

  • if you ever lived in China it starts with fascination and slowly changes to realism. I love Chinese people and culture (not the corrupt communist one;-)). Now that I am away fascination starts re-emerging,

  • @DeVizardofOZ There is no corrupt communist in China, the reason you dislike corrupt communist is because you are brainwashed by western propaganda and the so-called communist in Soviet Union, as a country has a civilized history for more than 5,000 years, China just learnt some so-called communism form the west or Russia, but China itself never uses anything unchanged and will change those things according to Chinese reality.

  • @IwasUnknownUser Apparently you do not know China very well, or you are part of the 80 Million party members who divide the profits they reek from those not privileged. If the latter is the case I forgive you for being plain ignorant. I do predict, however, that things will change in China, simply because the people in the so-called peoples republic are getting smarter.

  • @DeVizardofOZ

80 Million party members who divide the profits? oh, sorry, can you understand me? I mean, you are so "innocent". I'm considering whether I need to apply to join CCP tomorrow and become one of the "80 million ones" then start to "divide the profits".

  • @IwasUnknownUser

  • @DeVizardofOZ Unfortunately, Chinese people are smart enough and you are not smart enough to be brainwashed by your media, you are pathetic, not others. Can I know which country you come from? I am now living in the western Europe and one f the more richest countries in the world, I don't think they live a better life because of technology, but because of historical colonization and robbery from the third world.

  • @DeVizardofOZ at the same time, Chinese people also need to feed themselves, and there is no Utopian in the world, and you can't forget the hostility to China and Chinese people from Russia, India and the western world, Chinese has to be realistic to protect themselves, which was taught by the history after long invasion from the west and other countries.

  • @IwasUnknownUser All the technological advancement of China since Deng Xiao Ping;-) is due to foreign invention and technology, which was either acquired through the infamous practice of technology-transfer, but mostly illegally, and is still going on. Imagine Mao (the man who is directly responsible for the death of 30 to 70 million Chines people, who mostly starved to death... My friend lived in a hole in the ground during the "cultural revolution", she was barely a teen,

  • @DeVizardofOZ Can you tall me what is your invention? Human being learn form each other, you ancestors learnt how to make paper, gun power and printing form China and Chinese people, why don't you have the basic knowledge. before Mao there were more death in China because of the invasion form the western countries, why don't yo mention that? and the number you used is totally rumor and not the exact right figure, I doubt a person who use wrong information to show something.

  • @IwasUnknownUser Google it, in China...

  • OMG!!! this is one of the best versions of Jasmine Flower I ever heard!!! is beautiful!! :)

  • i really really want to learn how to play the erhu, pipa, and guzheng but i cant find any teacher in Los Angeles!... if anyone knows of a teacher can you please!! tell me.. thank you

  • very amazing

  • I am so proud of being a Chinese!

  • @PowerNaY ...and I am proud to belong to the human race. Unfortunately, while I call many Chinese people my friends, but I learned to dislike the arrogant, scheming, greedy and corrupt so-called "leaders" there. About 40.000 demonstrations in CHINA every single day speak for themselves. I wish you to be able to choose your government like we do in Europe. Hopefully very soon:-)

  • @DeVizardofOZ 累不累,煞不煞风景...Please do not talk about politics endlessly even if you think you are so good at it, I mean. And, excuse me, but I think the one who do not know China very well is you. I never thought the current condition of China is good enough if you ask me. Nevertheless, what you stated was no more than a platitude and far from the essence, to be honest.

  • @smelloftime Absolutely right, but what is the "essence" you talk about? The truth is, you are uninformed, but that is normal, and I forgive you, smelloftime;-)

  • @DeVizardofOZ Well, I do have no interest in continuing talking about these topics with you especially under a beautiful video. And my last advice for you is, do not talk about topics arbitrarily with which you do not familiar. When I was saying your words are far from essence, I was earnest and was not just attacking or laughing at you. I guess you are not from mainland China and even you can't read Chinese because some of your words show your lack of depth understanding of China.

  • @DeVizardofOZ

Anyway, thanks for your attention for our country, whether it is wellmeant or not. You may go to some specific forums if possible and if you like. Subsequently, you may still cannot find the essence, but you'll realize what is not essence at least.

If you are really NOT "uninformed" as you said, you should have known which forums are good or professional relatively.

    Good luck, hehe.

  • @PowerNaY be proud of a country in which you cannot make a telephone call without being spied on, and which does not allow you to post on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Live there, and then try to comment here... ;-)

  • Music is slow and sexy, if they were undressing as tune progresses...

  • @hangebicom

how dare you say this , vile ruffian?

  • @HENRY0LIONHEART

    Music inspires such ideas....

  • @hangebicom respect them, they are musicians!!! not sluts...

  • @Walter11x21 I agree :/. Enjoy the awesome, beautiful music!

  • @hangebicom dude, r u hi or something?? cuz thats not cool at all. take that somewhere else.

  • Great music.

  • @win081

So you have tangible and convincing evidence that Italian created this song other than Chinese?

  • @HENRY0LIONHEART Well, everyone in the world knows the Chinese are always copying everything from other countries. It's reasonable to doubt if Chinese musicians copied italian songs and then claimed its theirs, which is Chinese people's common dirty tricks. I don't think the Chinese are able to compose any good music other than crappy junks. look, the Chinese even copied a Japanese song as the theme song for Shanghai expo in 2011, another strong evidence for their plagiarism.

  • @ChineseSlaves

My GOD what an ignorant wankah'

  • @ChineseSlaves Yon don't really understand China and Chinese people.

  • @BenTamify You don't need to speak with some retarded monkeys from Vietnam or so-called Hmong people in Youtube.

  • @BenTamify I can forgive stupidity, but not ignorance... Those who believe China is the greatest country on earth should go and live there... Beijing and other big city air stinks, the tab water is not fit for drinking, and the poor people cannot even choose their government and president.

  • @ChineseSlaves Haha. They really need to educate people better. They spew out crap like this with abandon. Chinese civilization is older than most others. Cultural contact exists at many levels. Traditions become shared, blended, become part of a new sub-group. That's what happens. It's not "stealing" in every case that similar or even exact versions of a tradition exist in two different regions. And you want to speak of the Chinese-Japanese "plagiarism?" Okay, let's do that.

  • Origami, tea drinking traditions, Zen buddhism, elements of architecture, and many of the instruments used in the Japanese repertoire originally came to Japan by way of Chinese practices. I'll await your reply. No doubt it will further amuse me. Go read a damn book.

  • @KevinFiddle well, u know "The Shanghai World Expo paid $3.2 million to Japanese singer Maya Okamoto for plagiarizing her song".

  • @ChineseSlaves That is a crime, indeed but it is an isolated incidence. You went on to criticize Chinese music in general. My reaction was to your ridiculous generalizations.

  • @KevinFiddle You can say almost everything in Japanese culture originates from China, almost everything, the only thing they do is to add some so-called Japanese traditions.

  • @KevinFiddle True, but it came from the old Chinese culture, not the commie one.

  • @ChineseSlaves

    yOU make us sick..

  • @ChineseSlaves you such disgusting.....no comment on you. go and read the history.

  • @ChineseSlaves You may be a redneck or you may not be one. But for sure you are one godsaken bigot who already has fixed notion and prejudice in your dark heart about the Chinese. Were you beaten up by Bruce Lee before that you harbour such revengeful thinking about the Chinese. Basically, you ain't got what it takes to come to scratch with anything that you do in life.

  • @ChineseSlaves so, you are the slave of Chinese people? no wonder your are growling like a dog. hopefully they can be nice to you in your next life and curse you be a slave for the rest of this life.

  • @win081

Search Turandot in Wikipedia, and you shall find all the answers

    quote

Up to eight of the themes used in Turandot appear to be based on traditional Chinese music and anthems, and the melody of a Chinese song named "Mò Li Hūa (茉莉花)", or "Jasmine", is included as a motif for the princess.[14]

  • @HENRY0LIONHEART Anyone can be an editor in Wikipedia. It's just easy as you sign up YouTube. The difference is whether you can provide the credirable reference to convince anyone.

Wikipedia has already became a hot place for American government to provide the bases for the destabilization activities around the world. Unfortunately this Chinese song has already been "politicized" on the Wikipedia. What a pity!

  • so talented:) and beautiful girls too:D

  • Tai piaoliang!! Xie xie! I love traditional Chinese instruments :-)

  • Oh wow !! EXCELLENT

  • :')

  • Splendiferous!

  • You don't need to understand the language to know the music is amazing and incredible. Well done!

  • the song at first sounds like the (i believe it is) Japanese "Sakura , Sakura"

xie xie, ye shi zhongguo hao! - sorry if chinese is a little off. I just started learning chinese and plan on all of high school

  • Nevermind the link; I can't figure out how to make it more easy for you to use; however, I'm sure that you know how to Google the information underneath it. No Baidu required. The link to Princeton's page is just the second result.

    Enjoy your read.

  • I looked at the Wiki source once again for you. There IS a citation, "Ashbrook and Powers, Chapter 4." Now, if this is still too hard to believe and is still fictional source to you, I, unfortunately, do not have a copy of the book to check for you; however, you may buy the book to read yourself. I await to hear your answer.

    Here it is:

    press.princeton.edu/titles/4769.html

    Puccini's Turandot:

The End of the Great Tradition

    William Ashbrook and Harold Powers

  • The only reason why I am apt to believe the story is because I have practiced the Cello for over ten years. Through that time, I was able to immerse myself in the varying styles of music Europe has produced. You should know it as well; this is not what any composer in Europe would have composed. If you can provide me with any European composition during the romantic period that uses similar musical structure and form, then I will help search an answer for you.

  • @LornPariah Pentatonic scales and pitch-bending are distinctly unwestern. I agree, as a violinist of 16 years.

  • "Violinist" gives us a hint that you play primarily, though not solely Classical and other "art" music genres. There exist PLENTY of Western musical styles in the "folk" sector that have pentatonic scales and pitch-bending. In any case, with the world so globalized, the distinction between "Western" and "Eastern" need be used sparingly.

  • Yu Hongmei is the most beautifull girl I have ever seen.

  • Whenever I feel bad or depressed, I will listen to this song. Because this song will clear away all negative thoughts and make me happy!

    The Netherlands

  • This song is very nice i like it very much very touching. I will learn this music piece in my Erhu.

The Pipa...girl look very a like ..... 向海嵐 Anne heung.

  • I would have expected someone with as many music videos as you to realize that the style is not even remotely close to Europe's during the romantic period. This is most definitely an old Chinese folk song, and a simple search could have provided you with the answer.

The real shocker here is how Puccini (or his co-composers) decided to completely rename the song rather than crediting it in his opera. Nonetheless, his rendition is beautiful.

  • @LornPariah I guess you are Chinese, aren't you?! Do you know the Chinese language good enough to use the Chinese internet search engine?

Chinese got an internet search engine called "Baidu". Why don't you do a Chinese "Baidu" search on this " jasmine flower" song and tell us what you can find about it.

I have a Chinese friend on YouTube, she did exactly that more than one year ago when we talked about this "Chinese traditional music", LOL!

  • @win081 No, I do not know Chinese well enough to do that. I use Google.

Yes, I am Chinese-born, but I am culturally American. I did not find this because I enjoy the music, but rather because I needed to hear what it sounded like to perform. From what I gather, you are quick to jump to conclusions and also excessively brash. The onus of the burden should be upon you to prove that there is some conspiracy to steal an Italian composer's music and label it as Chinese Traditional music. Not me.

  • Comment removed

  • @win081 "Puccini also had co-composers on this opera. Baron Fassini Camossi, the former Italian diplomat to China, gave Puccini as a gift a music box which played a number of Chinese melodies. Puccini used three of these in the opera, including the national anthem and, most memorably, the folk melody "Mo-li-hua" ("Jasmine Flower") which is first heard sung by the children's chorus after the invocation to the moon in Act I, and becomes a sort of 'leitmotif' for the princess throughout the opera."

  • @LornPariah Interesting! Could you tell us where you get your "co-composer Baron Fassini Camossi...music box" story from?!

I know the story is floating around recently, especially among Chinese. But no one could tell where the story coming from. A guy in Santa Clara (USA) added this story to WikiPedia last month and he failed to quote the source. Judging from that guy's WikiPedia contributor page, no one should expect that guy knows anything about Puccini, opera or classical music, LOL!

  • @win081

    Your review makes me laugh,man.

Jasmine Flower the song has been popular in my province in China for more than 150years,

Turandot Borrowed many elements from the Far East, maybe this song is not an exception

  • beautifull....nice

  • Excellent rendition, well harmonized. Maybe just have the quartet and remove the background percussion beats to maintain the Chinese authenticity.

  • @Sainter2008

Yes, there'll be perfect, but people always want to add beats to everything these days and spoil the original rhythms of the olden times.

  • Bravo!

  • All excellent musicians. A very good arrangement in a modern mode.

  • 琴技一流!登峰造极!深情动人!百听不厌!

  • Celestial

  • 美 !

  • youtube.com/watch?v=5YVsTQOC0c8&feature=related andalucia music look lik china music :)

  • Something that is so beautiful beyond words.. im in a trace no words.. but only the computer beats disturbs....

  • @karmineka I agree I love this music, but the computer beats ruin it. This music stands beautifully on it's own unhindered.

  • Chinese girls and Erhu are very slender and so beautiful!

One of the great pieces executed well.

Everyone complemented each other and well coordinated.

    What a team!

  • The Ehru is so soothing i feel beyond relaxed as it washing over me~

  • I like the girl plays Erhu

  • she's like an empress in the heian period while playing the song very elegant and beautiful with passion...it was so beautiful combined with the erhu...

  • What a wonderful video, it has made my day. And a pleasant change of pace - no racist, stupid, hateful comments! An oasis of beauty in the harsh desert of YouTube!

  • Greetings from Sweden. I've just discovered chinese traditional music and I love it. This video is very beutiful. All the nice colour combinations, beutiful dresses and pritty girls. And of course amazing music on amazing instruments. I cried when I listened to it. Bravo!

  • Master Chau, I love your taste in music.

  • nice

  • 素晴らしい演奏ですね。胡弓の音色美しいです。感動しました。

    ありがとうございます。ミラ

  • so nice

  • Such beautiful talented women! Look at how beautiful the eyes are on Yu Hongmei, the women in the center playing the violin type instrument. All of them are gorgous and look at how well dressed they are. I am a caucasian male and I must say there is something very special about asian women and the asian culture. this music is so soothing. In my opinion, asian women are the most beautiful women in the world. They have an exotic beauty that other women just don't have.

  • @197224dfb the middle instrument (violin type instrument) is called the erhu. i do agree the chinese culture is so beautiful.i myself am chinese almost every day i find yet another wonderful jem of the culture. the other two instruments by the way are the pipa (the guitar like one). the dizi (flute type one) and then the guzheng (the one in the back)

  • the dragon awakes on a jasmin.field
