Socomfag here. The last great socom game was ftb1 before it was hacked to death. Bring back the fast grenade throws and the crazy choke points and especially the insanely fun reviving battles. The gameplay was absolutely fast and furious. Full 11 round, 8 vs 8, games lasted ~15 minutes!! NOBODY CAMPS!! Because if you start camping, the other team will start getting revived.
I wish I could agree with you AlfonzeBear, But the truth is...Nothing is going to be so different than watching someone else play socom on screen or you holding the dualshock and looking at the same screen. the only problem with confrontations is that it was a little laggy. But it was close to socom 2, thats what made it good. Now everyone cried to get zipper back, and we got Call Of DOOKY, I knew this crap would happen.

Socom is probabaly related to ounter strike. Hardcore tactics, and where cover which is sparse is vital to live. Battlefield innovative? Oh the irony of complaining about casuals/respawns. You guys are just as casual for not doing your research and knowing about classic mode. That's where all the best SOCOM players will be. That is, of course, assuming you're all smart enough to figure out it's there.
Classic Mode is still far from what Socom was man...
the controller configuration is all wrong, theres no pistols, no grenade arcs, no lobbies, no push to talk, no user created ranked rooms, almost none of the old game modes (Breach, VIP, Demolition??)

@CandyHam It is normal for this gen. That is why they called it that. It is ODD for SOCOM. Remember it is a choice if you want to play it or not. I know that most people who will buy socom are not going to play normal so there should be no worry.
I definitely understand your frustration but I mean at least you still get to play the game the way YOU want in classic mode. I dislike when devs try to appeal to a broader audience cuz most of the time they end up betraying their fanbase. But zipper hasn't done that. Really not digging the OTS view. Looks like it's hard to pick off people far away. Guess it doesn't really matter since you can have a SNIPER and ASSAULT RIFLE at the same fucking time... LAME.
Looks good but not great. Im not digging the Ghost Recon/Gears of War like gameplay such as the OTS view and snap to cover system. I wish basic movement and camera perspectives from the Socom series were added into this game like free lean and grenade arc. Sad to see Socom go from a unique game to just a montage of popular games

and the visuals are the last thing on my mind with this game... gameplay is were Socom shines (or at least shined)

Classic Mode is still far from what Socom was man...
the controller configuration is all wrong, theres no pistols, no grenade arcs, no lobbies, no push to talk, no user created ranked rooms, almost none of the old game modes (Breach, VIP, Demolition??)
Of course its what old time fans will play... but i have a feeling it won't cut it.
I could be wrong, and il be the first to admit it if i am... but all iv seen so far = bad feeling thats all.

You see the problem right? They are trying to appeal to people who don't even care to begin with. Which results in a double-failure. I'm sick of seeing Socom/MAG screw up, or fix itself with patches over the course of a year.

@CandyHam It is normal for this gen. That is why they called it that. It is ODD for SOCOM. Remember it is a choice if you want to play it or not. I know that most people who will buy socom are not going to play normal so there should be no worry.

I definitely understand your frustration but I mean at least you still get to play the game the way YOU want in classic mode. I dislike when devs try to appeal to a broader audience cuz most of the time they end up betraying their fanbase. But zipper hasn't done that. They have a new mode for new comers and classic mode for the fanbase. Everyone wins :).

@AlfonzeBear As much as I hate this game, and love the first two titles, there is a LOT of stuff from this game that could make a SOCOM 1 and 2 game great, but S4 is missing way too much of what made the SOCOM name a multiplayer staple to begin with. It's not going to last long without it, that's the cold hard truth, make your peace with it.

Looks good but not great. Im not digging the Ghost Recon/Gears of War like gameplay such as the OTS view and snap to cover system. I wish basic movement and camera perspectives from the Socom series were added into this game like free lean and grenade arc. Sad to see Socom go from a unique game to just a montage of popular games

@sabesta I've been trying to find out a way I can still play that game with my Turtle Beach headset. Cause I don't want to play it with the sound coming out of my TV. That game was way too loud to play in the house with my son sleeping. Have you noticed how fucking loud the nades were? I tried before, but I couldn't communicate with my team...I can't play Socom without talking on the headset...FACK!!

I have fought for Classic SOCOM more than you'll probably ever know, and I've already played SOCOM 4. And when I played it, it didn't look like this noob footage up above. No one wants too play that 8v8 trash, why does people say that 2 was better than 3/CA IMO it wasn't, 99% of you people haven't even played the game and bitch about, at the very least play the game then speak your mind. For the people complain about the air strikes stay your ass out of respawn and go to classic mode stay there. (which by the way is my only beef with zipper is that classic should be standard mode)
