why replace the 200mm side fan with two 120mm ones? Surely a single 200mm would move just as much air with less noise? (plus the blue LEDs would look cooler)
Warning for overclockers. If not going liquid cooled, do not waste your money on the optional plexi side panel. The mesh side allows for better airflow if you invert the fan to blow out on the cover panel. Great case overall.
@jmorris4411 actually if you use the big 230mm fan that comes with it and invert it you will rob the CPU Heatsink of any air. Yes it will suck all the air out but it will be pulling any air away that the heatsink needs. and stall it so to say and overheat. Not trying to be rude, but if you know nothing about air cooling setup don't give anyone advice. you could cause them to fuck up there system. Have a nice day.
@shardoko The fan doesn't create a vaccuum in the case, so robbing the heatsink of any air makes no sense. The point of the fans is to move air in such a way that it helps facilitate the transition of heat from either one medium to another or away from a source. The side fan simply keeps the air flowing in a manner that does not oppose the movement of air from another source, such as a heatsink. Having a chassis fan blow inward toward the components is not efficient by any means.
I want to buy this case so it has esata and firewire ports on front panel i dont think I have firewire or esata on my motherboard or maybe I have one idk.
Nice build man! That case rocks and I love your CPU and GPU (I have the same ones haha) but I want your sound card. What do you run the sound card on most of the time? PC speakers or home audio?
Great. From what i can see, the whole side panel is ventilated, right ?
Is the side panel air filter effective? Cuz you don't want the dust to accumulate on your motherboard and inside your graphics card, or even the CPU heatsink.
Yes helldrell the whole side panel is actually a dustfilter. Why did you remove the 200mm side panel fan. I would imagine that would be much quieter than 2 120s
Im planning on getting the Radeon HD 5870, some water cooling, 8gb ram, bluray reader, 50 something in 1 card reader with temp display, 1tb Seagate or WD hard drive 7200rpm
@that1fatkiduknow I bought the psu 3 years ago lol =P so I think for £60 quid that's well spent. I would say however if you are going to spend £60 on a psu obviously go for a higher one now, but it won't be majorly different with performance with our current gen cards. unless of course you are equipping crap loads of HDD's.
No offense dude, just to be perfectly honest I think you could really do some better cable management with that case, even with my CM690 I was able to do pretty good cable management, thats not to say that it didn't take a shitload of zip ties tho lol..But anyways a very good build! Just another suggestion though..You could take all of the spare power connectors and tie them together and put them on the other side of the case. The bulky side panel will allow it to fit! Happy New Years as well!
1 4870 =ok for everything but crysis and FC2, you shoul get another one
I like the neatness of the cables and cooling, that would have to be one of the most organized and best performing air cooled PC's I have ever seen good job :)
If the CM Storm Sniper had an all black interior I would have gotten it straight away, but I got the Storm Scout instead because of the small difference in price and the all black interior looks so nice!
very, very nice..... especially inside. but i fear for a pc under the desktop the fron side is not impressive enough..... imho, of course. i tend to prefere more elaborate one, like those with a turbine engine-like in the front
You should really have that cooler 90 degrees clockwise coz the air from that backfan won't be doing anything if its up against that cooler. But if you spin it the air will come through the fins of the cooler and out the back.
hey man thanks for the answers but did u had to buy the side panel window separate , because on their websites and some other ones it says " side window panel (optional) .. so im confused .
what they mean by side panel optional is that they have 2 different side panels, the black mesh and the windowed. the mesh would be default I guess.. They did release a windowed version colored black inside aswell
and hows the noise with the stock case fans !! any loud ? thanks . im debating between this model or the coolermaster HAF 932 which is a full tower. both same price.
The 4870x2 fits perfectly, more than enough room for larger cards if there are any.
As for the noise.. There is a knob you can turn to increase or decrease the fan, It's extremely quiet on the lower settings, but more obvious when you turn it up. I have it maybe 2/5 of the way turned because of the card I have running :)
@kidowner No it's not, its still just as small when it comes to what it can hold. The HAF 932 can hold an XL ATX motherboard and I'd like to see the sniper do that.
Full towers and Mid towers are worlds different and shouldn't be compared, each has their purpose. Also the ATCS 840 is a superior case to all other mentioned so far.
Damn, Wonder if the side panel lets you put a 200mm intake/exhaust fan as well, I would definitely get it if the inside of the case was painted black.

hi ermm i am hacing trouble for installing the side panel fan as i have no experience and i would like to ask u how am i suppose to do it? i have checked videos on how to install them but the way of installing is diff. u mind helping me out?
can u see through the mesh on the side panel? i have p180 and it blows for airflow, well i wish itd blow more... but yea, i want mid tower, but i wanna see the inside cuz imma do liquid cooling w/ uv cathodes
haha the side panel.. is Kind of see through.. not completely, because its so dark.but if you have liquid cooling, with those Cathodes, you can probably see them
this case is much better than the haf as it runs almost silent and has better cable management. Trust me on this because ive had experiences with both cases and this was far better
Are those all passively cooled components? Just a heatsink on CPU and GPU? Nice!

is this a maxi tower? If so, how would you guys compare it up against the HAF? :)

this case is much better than the haf as it runs almost silent and has better cable management. Trust me on this because ive had experiences with both cases and this was far better
