  • can you control that with an external keyboard?

  • Click 1:38 to skip past the terribly annoying "horn" solo....or is it a vuvuzuela?

  • Really nice stuff. I like the on the fly biz, along with the loops.

I've been making a lot of music with this pup since fall 2010. I don't have much posted but would love it if you checked out my channel for past works and upcoming stuff.

  • I bought one and love it! I really love playing my guitar, but for sheer mindless entertainment and experimentation, it's a lot of fun. I bought mine at Swing City Music in Collinsville.

  • 1:04 really bad sax solo dude

  • @surfinbred you think thats a sax. dumb bitch

  • terrible...

  • ew.

  • Beautiful, very Y.M.O!

  • i love em but WHY are they ALL LEFT HANDED?????

  • @HomeDistiller um.... really? why do you think?

  • @chandrabulucon have you ever even looked at them? the buttons are on the wrong side

  • listening to this with head phones was weird as hell but great!

  • 8===> ---- 0-:

  • Wow :D this motherfucker is in stereo

  • has anyone tried this in a DJ set?

how well does it intergrate, when your mixing on the fly as well? or is it worth geting a Kaoss pad or the massive one?

  • Some tips with a Kaossilator: Holding down Scale and pressing Loop quickly returns you to the program selector from any menu.

Also, if you set to program d.84 and tap anywhere along the top, and wait, you get a rising feedback. To stop it just tap anywhere else or change the program.

  • well, lets talk about the Kaossillator shall we.This wee synth is pretty cool and does take some mastering.I got one and it makes a very cool sequencer for mixing and at a very affordable price (unless you're a street beggar of course)

  • yo cool jazz dude

  • there should be some kind of rule "at lest 3 note cord to be call an instrument"

  • I learned piano and was able to compose a song with 4 strings and drumset on Finale Songwriter. Yah I fleshed out some of the phrases on a piano, but the medium shouldn't matter.

Real musicians used to be dudes beating two sticks, then a skin-stretched drum, strings, ringing metal, whistling on bits of wood, then blowing raspberries in metal tubes. Long as you can make a sound you like, nobody can corner the market on a 'real musician.' The trick is getting others to hear what's inside you.

  • @karlwashere123

Are you suggesting a synthesizer isn't an instrument?

  • Comment removed

  • @karlwashere123

What? You didn't really answer my question..

Synthesizers are a legit instrument and to say

otherwise is pretty dumb. A lot of awesome keyboardists use synths... A LOT.

And this here.. IS an instrument.

And instrument can be a $5 piano for little kids

that makes that "ping" sound when you hit the tiny key.

THAT is an instrument, I've seen Sigur Ros use one during there song to make a melody line.

Anything that potentially creates a good tone is an instrument...

  • Comment removed

  • @karlwashere123

    A spoon?

I didn't say everything was meant to be a solo

    instrument, did I? No, I didn't. Instead I said

everything has the potential of being an instrument.

Actually, you can use a spoon.

I think I've seen people use them to

create percussive sounds. I think it

was incorporated in a tap dance.

    You are just narrow-minded, honestly.

  • Comment removed

  • @karlwashere123

Yeah, obviously. I play traditional instruments.

    I'm mostly a bassist, however, I'm not close-minded like you. That's not "being a hippie," it's

knowing that sometimes you have to go out of the box to get that perfect sound.

And the "at least three note chord" is bogus.

That's like saying maracas are not an instrument. Sure they might produce a certain pitch, but you can't be like.. "Hmm, I'm going to play an Am15 with this." So is it a fake now?

    No, it isn't.

  • I would really like to get this little instrument.

I know a lot of people claim it's not for "real musicians" but I have a feeling such isn't the case.

I play strings and keys (mostly bass and guitar)

and know a decent amount of theory, but

I feel with the Kaossilator I could really take

a break from pure theory and really just jam

    out without thought.

Not that I'm bashing the work needed to go

into electronic music, just that I feel I won't

have to process as much with the Kaossilator.

  • If you want to jam so in jazz seriously dude I see a jazz bass in my band and he jams with the drums and him alone after class everyday it seems like he gets into it

  • @Prof3ssrBrando Yeah it's not true. What exactly is a "real musician" anyway? Just because a type of instrument is new doesn't mean it isn't a "real instrument".

  • @IRBaboonVideo I don't really know.

    Really though, any percussionist would

    probably smack someone for questioning

any instrument. Haha. I've heard of using a

can of coffee beans to create music.

I think the Kaosillator passes the test. ;)

  • you keep call me names like you're 12. I'll let it slide cuz you're just one of thou's guys that duz'nt post any videos and just runs his mouth. I'll buy you one of these thing if you call me narrow minded to my face. it would be the last time you'd put your foot in your mouth. you must have little to lose.

  • @karlwashere123

Um, no, I'm not twelve. Your spelling suggests that you are indeed the one of little age, especially since you now threaten me. As for all of your classes, that has NOTHING to do with music. We've been talking about music and how you're being judgmental about instruments, placing your own rules and not allowing experimentation. Honestly, if you have actually taken anything science related, you'll know experiments are a necessity in new discoveries. Stop placing walls on music.

  • Plus I teach an astrology class to 6th. graders. a masters in quantum mechanics and am in my 2nd year of med school. I must be the bawdiest narrow minded person in the world.

  • @karlwashere123

And dude, there are PLENTY of musicians who would willing knock you into place because of your "Synthesizer" not an instrument statement. Have you any idea how many incredible pianists play synthesizers? That statement alone makes your opinion pointless in this conversation. Music is meant to be expanded up, broken, reformed, and changed constantly to express the players emotions just like any form of art... Sometimes the smartest people fail to grasp the simplest concept.

  • Let's agree to disagree. when a cop pulls you over and asks " is there any weapons in the car" its a trick question, anything can be used as a weapon, but is a cigarette lighter really a weapon? no its a cigarette lighter. people are entitled to there own opinions.

  • @karlwashere123

That is a horrible, horrible example.

Actually, it proves you wrong. Cigarette lighters

are weapons depending on how they are used..

    Just like an instrument..

  • Comment removed

  • sorry, CAN BE USED AS, not is.

  • I thought was pretty good lol.

  • I bet you're sitting there trying to cum up with some way to convince me that a cigarette lighter is a weapon. funny...

  • You teach horoscopes to 6th graders? Maybe you meant Astronomy? Or maybe you are just lieing out of your ass.

  • read with your eyes not you mouth. dumb ass. or maybe you meant d,duuuu.

  • maybe I meant mythology, and you're a retard.

  • fuckin punk

  • What, did you get your "Masters" from ITT tech? Did some homeless guy on the street hand you your diploma? I find it very difficult to believe that a person with the credentials you claim would take themself seriously enough to troll the shit out of a youtube comments section. And why the hell would you brag about teaching astrology/mythology? It sounds like an easy bullshit class.

  • What smile gives witness, proof for you to judge?

The poorest of the lot deserves a break.

    Speak behind that smile that hides your color;

closed lips speak truer than an open drain.

  • Exactly, there is no proof to judge so why would you even try to claim to be tight? Your online persona doesn't match it so all you are doing is calling your credibility further into question. Second, "closed lips"? You've been vomiting on this comment section more than any one other person.

  • this is the second video that i watch of this device, the music is so relaxing

  • S to the i to the C to the K... Outstanding display of the kaossilator.

Tried my best to sound cool :)

  • yo man do you know any better solutions around the same price range??

thanks ive been looking around and can't really find anything

  • Yes it does mate. It has some garbage presets, pacman being another one. Out of the 100 only 20 are usable IMO.

  • im sure thats not he only sound

  • All goes to ratshit at 1:06

  • @robertozube Is that...a trumpet?

    The fuck?

  • @robertozube HAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAH man that horn is hilariously bad

  • D+ fera

  • Pixel Junk Eden, I mean...

  • do you know what the main song is called for the Pixel Junk Eden game? i love the hell outta it

  • reminds me of Pixel Junk Eve

  • is there midi out?

  • I believe so.

  • No.

  • i have Q

with power supply You use for your korg ??

i mean i know that it must be 4.5V but i don't know how many mA must be 300mA or 500mA ??

  • this is dope soooooon i wish i had one lol i have a microkorg yeaaa

  • Yes this is definitely awesome. But don't be sad about your microKORG. I have one of those as well, and although it's not all fancy and touch screen, it still can make some pretty awesome sound.

This kaossilator is awesome though. Very awesome.

  • how much did it cost in tokyo??

  • wat are u using to loop?

  • uuhhhh... maybe the loop button? lol

  • lol i fugured it out

  • Kaossilator itself :P It can record phrases and playback them.

  • The trumpet is a bit out of tone, the rest of it is nice.

  • can u switch loops on it, like immediately? :P

  • The Kaossilator runs on 4 AA batteries and has a headphone socket.

  • so how do you record the music ?

  • yeh u cn use headfones n batteries

  • you should have chosen another scale for trumpet

  • nice

  • the Kaos Kaossilator Cost 147 Euro

  • wow

  • Очень круто!

  • are all the sounds u make already on the korg kaoss pad ? or sombody please

  • yeah

  • thnx m8 :)

  • no problem!

  • yah there already there

  • no ...

  • Whats that? :D

  • so if i'm interesting in sampling and making tracks and djing local college parties do i want a koassilator or just the mini kp?

  • djing local college parties u want cdjs and the basics first!

  • well, and when u finally have a mixer, cdjs and some good music i'd advise you to buy a kaoss pad 3 instead of a kaossilator of kp mini.

  • This is more for music production than DJing!

  • is this what matt bellamy uses?

  • No Matt Uses A Korg Kaoss Pad Kp2 It's A Little Different, I Mean It Can Make The Percussion And What Not, It's In His Guitar You Know. Look It Up, It's A Little Different Than This, His Is All Under The Top Of this Guitar, He Had It All Built In For Him And The Touch Screen Is What He Uses For The Sounds Of The Strings And The Scratchy Noises.

  • uhmm.. Your shift-button is stuck?

  • jonny greenwood uses a korg kaoss too

  • My inner copy writer is shrieking.

  • gotta find one now :D

  • does the kaossilator have effects (reverbs and delays)?

  • Some sounds have built in FX.

  • can it be used just as a sampler? for looping the beat or any sound from input?

  • No, Mini KP Kaoss Pad can add some FX to sound input.

  • それは ございますです!!!

    trumpet sound very good! 印象的です

  • You, random person, win.

  • I am going to buy the Kaossilator, and I have question: does Mini KP can be used as synthesizer too? I mean, do Mini KP has got the functions of Kaossilator.

  • yes there are some synth effects on the mini kp but not many

  • OK, but I meant not synth FX, I meant synthesizer built in.

  • The Korg DS-10 has one of these built in

  • kaossilator is awesome! i love my one

  • Kaossilator is fun and easy to use, but the track pad is small which makes it difficult to create musical lines with repeatable accuracy. It's good for creating ambient noise on a track, but if you're the type of producer that wants to play specific lines that are somewhat complicated, this is not your instrument. In fact, I would say it's not the main tool of a professional, more like a cool accessory. Best bet is to go to a music store and test one out with headphones before buying.

  • no ... nice for effects!

you can make little drum-loops with this..

and if you have a kp3 you can make whole songs with this *toy*

  • you could totally get a decent phrase , and record it and loop it- def have to agree that creating somthing repeatable would be difficult with this alone though..still nifty and id smile if i got one as a gift .

  • should i buy this? i dont rlly know if this is good to make beats :S can someone help me?? is this hard to use?

  • hi, great jam, a couple of questions

can you save what you're playing to the computer, or any other thing?

and also, can you eliminate some of the layers of the loop while you are playing it?

  • Yeah, if you have a double ended jack you can plug it into the headphones socket of the Kaossilator, and the other end into the computer.

Im not sure about the layer thing Im sorry, I dont actually have one.

  • You can't eliminate a specific layer of the loop on the kaossilator itself (except for the most recent sound recorded). The only way to do that would be to make each beat it's own track on whatever program you're using on your computer to record with, and then arranging/deleting them in that program. I like to do that anyway so that I can use it in conjunction with other things

  • so its basically a sampler?

  • Not really, you can't sample your own sounds. It's more like a synthesizer with looping capability

  • i just ordered mine!

  • you can save if u upload to compooper(aka computer

  • nice job. im pumped, my kaossilator is in the mail right now, can't wait to get it.

  • My kaossilator shoud arrive tomorrow :)

  • Oh man how I want one of these!!

  • Yeah normal price is bout $200

  • $150

  • I'm thinking of buying one :D I've found a used one for about 75 bucks, it's a good price right?

  • just make sure someone didn't make it that cheap cuz its in crap quality.

"If it sounds too good to be true it probably is"

  • can you save a song into it? or after rebooting you loose your composition? and also, can you save a new /modified sound preset? thx for your answers.

  • no. i just got mine and you can't save any of your tracks or upload any other sounds. when you reboot everything is reset, scale, bpm, key, all of it. but its really fun to play around with. definetly not professional tho

  • how much

  • im selling my kaossilator, only used it about 3 or 4 times. its in perfect condition. if interested -> talk to me on myspace /briang91

  • Why're you selling it?

  • cuz they are only so useful, and more aimed at people who like to do live performance or build tracks via live takes.. for certain producers they can be petty restrictive/not very useful

  • korg. made in japan. that explains everything.

  • that was sick! at 3:06 that shit started to sound like sum sort of thing hovering. im getting one!

  • just loving this! way nice sound! awesome creativity ;-)

  • he isn't using software...its the loop on the Kaoss

  • hi dude. what software do u use?

  • does this thing loop within itself or are you using a different loop station

  • it loops within itself.

  • sounds like a theremin @ 3:39

  • This video helped convince me to buy one of these... one thing I've recorded is up as a video response to this.

  • Check RHYTHMTANDEM for more great innovation!

  • buying it...no ifs...no buts...only like £100..

  • how does it know what u want? the notes fit so perfectly

  • sick jam. serious trump for a hot sec

  • ANYONE UP? I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO

why cant i see the video Xk

  • Hi, the trumpet isn´t in tune.....take the pentatonic blues scale and it will fit. Show us more of your electribe-stuff, you are the greatest!

  • can you make a beat and then have this gismo play that beat so you could jam with it?

  • Check out his Kaossilator + KP3 vids and they might clear things up a bit.

  • I'm thinking of buying one of these. I understand you can record different synth and effects and loop them. But .. can you save any songs or beats that create using the Kaossilator. Or do you need a program

  • As far as I know you cant save anything on it, it wud be mainly used for remixing or producing on the fly. To save what you create you'd have to record your whole sequence through Garageband/Pro-Tools etc and then edit it down to the bits you like and maybe create loops from that. Its a shame cos its a brilliant piece of equipment..still gonna buy one anyway. Never ever be bored again if owned one of these!

  • Thanks alot. Yeah i'm still going to buy one its an excellent purchase. So i'll just edit through a editing software. Cheers

  • zelda!

  • must take alot of practise

    nice work

  • see i think it would be better if you could delete certain layers as you go

  • Can't you?

  • i think you can, but only the last one you made

  • this is fun! lol

but i seriously can't see how it can be an instrument on its own..... i mean without the keys or frets.. :S or is it such that any sound goes?

  • does it just plug into an amp man?..i want one of these lol

  • just speakers or amp or buds or phones or computer or tv or stereo system. that's all

  • lol!

  • omfg XD i cant believe that!

  • Does this have to plug into anything like a keyboard, or can the sound just be played through a pair of speakers

  • ive got to go work at6 this is doin my head in ... out of time work hard with it dude u will get some where some day
