  • you can clearly see that music is an array of precisely mathematically calculated pattern.

  • I actually don'y like the organ sound in this, it is too synthetic. Graphics are awesome, but it needs a real organ sound, not organ electronica.

  • This Bach kid has talent.

  • this is the cheat code to enter Hell.

  • Last Rites/Loved to Death by Megadeth... Used part of this song as the intro, and it sounds so good!

  • That was actaully pretty darn good, I was mesmerised by it...

1:20 sounds like the intro to Through the Fire and Flames, don't you think?

And 2:50 sounds like Salieri Strikes Back, by Warmen, yeah? . . .

Moving swiftly on, very good playing, indeed, especially the visual... thing xD I like that

  • This is genius. You have given music an extra dimension; a visual aid in which we can see the brilliant harmony of Bach.

    Thank you very much.

  • Now this is some amazing music. Thumbs up if you enjoyed it.

  • the video is kinda scary but its soooo hypnotyzing @.@

  • I came here from minecraft scary door bell

  • Wouw .. This is soooo cool! Thanks for sharing!!! Really thanks!

  • need to be in normal speed 8 bit now...

  • and Jinxx from Black Veil Brides loves this guy..

  • 16M views - Faith in humanity restored

  • I'm surprised that you haven't got more subscribers, based on the amount of views this video has.

  • @hindillvoltpump Yeah, I'm sort of surprised, too. I'm equally surprised that when I post a new video, I get relatively few views from subscribers. Most of my views come from people who are looking for a particular thing and find my version, not from people who are fans of what I do (though there are quite a few of those, too).

  • @smalin You rock dude, keep it on. I subscribed.

  • How does it feel to have played one of the most popular performances of Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor in history?

  • @TokeyMcGee I don't think it's popular because of my performance. I'm pleased that so many people are enjoying the animation (which is the part where I did something unusual).

  • AWESOME 16 million views! It's great to see that people still appreciate the classical music that laid the foundation for all the tunes we enjoy today. Bach and Beethoven and Vivaldi and Mozart will always live on with us...to name a few.

  • I used to cry at beautiful music like this, but now I just smile. I hear good music now and I can't help but smile at the beauty. I never understood why this song got so popular until I heard the full version. Incredible work!

  • @Mustelidean Probably never would have liked this song if it wasn't for the 20,000 leagues under the sea movie.

  • goosebumps at 7:50

  • Anyone else had to pause to clean up all the orgasmic juices that flowed from your ear during this song?

  • So basically it's playing scales, as with modern rock guitar solos.

  • @BusaGenii it still one of my favorite pieces however.

  • @BusaGenii a great piece by Bach, but there are at least 80 works better than his BWV 565. This is Bach!

  • This reminds about "your life flashing before your very eyes".

The variety of tones depicted in this masterpiece can be heavily related to that.

    I find that very comforting.

    : )

  • this is too cool, seriously im trying to study.!

  • I liked everything about this video except for the annoying ad.

  • MIND BLOWN!

  • fucking interesting to compare the music with this bar-graph!

  • itsz imeyzikkk

  • Aw I remember this theme in terror movies xD

  • che cazzo di genio

  • it would be cool if you put the score underneath the lights

  • @IamDennisFuller I've done that with some videos.

  • @IamDennisFuller

You can do it with Apple Garage Band i think.

  • Genial a brilliance, the best music by bach!

  • i love this music.

  • muito bonita a musica e o video :)

  • Man, what I would give to have a chance to hear Bach play

  • great video, but somehow the music seems to be out of pace. dragging its feet sort of.. tx anyway:-)

  • @Ted7864 Don't get a splinter.

  • Bach was a boss, this song is boss and I wish I was a boss.

  • Bach was a boss (even if it's true that he didn't create this beautiful music)

  • amo 2:50

  • to create, or if this is a plugin for windows media player or winamp?

  • @juninhohyuuga No, it's not available for audio --- only MIDI.

  • I read somewhere that this piece isn't really a Bach composition. How true could that be?

  • @mookiebomber It could be true. There's been a lot of discussion of it here in these comments. You might want to read through that swamp before jumping in.

  • @mookiebomber

I learned that its what he played as a warm up exercise

  • Thank you for putting the bar graph score in, it helps understand the notes much better!!!

  • I remember when this song first came out. This was when real music was popular. These ignorant young ones today listening to their bloody Mozart......I dunno.

  • @Rogermiler I know, right? Ha ha ha ha! :-D

  • I watched the whole thing and then everything seemed to be moving

  • @conbatisawesome me too bro

  • 0:34

    M. Bison: YESH! YESH!

  • This piece always makes me think of Vincent playing the organ in some hammer horror movie.

  • 1:19 EPIC! EPIC! EPIC! EPIC! EPIC!

  • @EdwrdElric2 Which one? A composer or a player?

  • You need to be an octopus to play Bach's organ pieces??

  • @martin2sax - Nope. Bach played it completely alone. :P

  • I'm sorry, but is Bach a composer or a player/musician?

  • Hi Smalin, this could be the greatest pedagogical development in music in a hundred years. Ever thought about doing the chaconne from the 2nd violin partita BWV 1004? That would be really interesting to see, or any chaconne or passacaglia for that matter. Bach's passacaglia for organ BWV 582 would be awesome, but quite an undertaking.

  • @koyunbaba73 I guess you aren't subscribed to my channel. I did BWV 582 a few weeks ago. I plan to do the Chaconne, but it's a big project (not anything like the animations I've done so far); maybe this year --- if I'm lucky.

  • @smalin Now, yours is the very first youtube channel I've subscribed to!

  • am i the only one who doesn't understand the video (i know these are the notes, but why??????)

  • @eugen9611 Because it looks cool? And it's kind of hypnotic?

  • @alphatotheomega7 :(((( doesn't work for me

  • @eugen9611 Sind Sie Deutsch, Kamerad?

  • @alphatotheomega7 nein, warum?

  • @eugen9611 Oh your username was German I thought.

  • Why you want to see this in high definition?

  • Reminds me strongly of Bowsers Theme! :p

    Awesome piece!

  • the first parts AngryNintendo nerd used it.

  • All I could think the whole time was wow...

  • Bach has the best/most fun music, Beethoven is the best musician(he was deaf and still composed), and Chopin has the hardest/most skillful music(have you ever tried playing fantasie impromptu?). This is all in my opinion though. All composers I haven't mentioned are fantastic in my opinion.

  • wow very well played sir

  • Master pieces like this are pricsely the reason I love classical music.

  • from the traditionnal notation to the world of my son notation and with my experience of musician and singer I congratulate your work because it is a lot of...

  • From ape to youtube commenter.

  • @VonValjus How long did it take you?

  • 2:50 for Fugue

  • 300+years and counting. There are somethings that just wont ever go out of fashion. Classics are classics for a reason. There are way to many modern day 'classics' which will disappear in a decade at most, not like real classics which will last for centuries, as all good music should.

  • @Theagchm The thing to consider is that this was considered "mainstream" music during its time. WE think of it as a masterpiece, but life in the world of music was far different in Bach's time. It took about 100 years for Bach's music to be rediscovered by Mendelssohn and be reignited to where it is today. Modern day "classics" are compressed in terms of era. There are those songs that are timeless, but the majority are for the time and period only. They make some money, and the band moves on.

  • I thought the animation was pretty cool =)

  • 7:08 - made my hair stand up on end

  • 240p... how dare ye corrupt this masterpiece?

  • @accountstealinghack When I made (and uploaded) this video, 240p was the best YouTube had to offer. When they increased it, I re-made it in higher resolution and posted it on my archive/spillover channel (musanim). You can also buy the high-resolution version on Cerizmo.

  • You must be pretty smart to make all this with a computer (Im not even joking)

  • @accountstealinghack Yea, I wish i could see those boxes in HD!

  • @accountstealinghack keep in mind this video was made 6years ago...

  • It's ok, the visualization makes me expect 8bit sound :p Weed!

  • love that song and video! LSD!

  • Never get's old

  • Bravo

  • That was cool

  • 1 genious minc composed this,7 or more people were writing Justin beibers Baby........im 14 and i ADORE classical music!

  • i like green lightsabers

  • That's what a good 5.1 is for, not for call of duty.

  • 0:58 looked to the right, Oh God, epic shit coming.

  • I might be 13 but this is awesome

  • Genial !

  • WOW crazy

  • Fruity loops!

  • @BeatsCraze uhhh, no, not quite.

  • @KamKomissioner lol ooh i know it just reminds me of it

  • @BeatsCraze oh haha, sorry my bad.

  • All the time and effort... Wow

  • This is what sparks people

  • omg nice hacker

  • @blasbembi lolwhat?

  • I always get goose-pimples whenever the ending is played from about 7:50, and when you're playing this piece in a cold church, it adds to the effect a lot!

  • The drawbar arrow for the ad at the bottom of the video makes a nice position indicator.

  • "Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid " by Douglas R. Hofstadter

  • ***THANK YOU FOR SHARING WITH ME.

  • I love this entire piece, but @4:00-5:05 mm... Something so serene, so enduring about that section.. To me it's like the flight of two hawks, you know?

  • love the animation :)

  • Wasn't this song used in a game for the sega megadrive... UMMM what was it called... JEWELS? Angel dust? not sure. It was like tetris except with coloured gems.

  • @ilovestareon You're thinking of Columns. I loved that game as a kid. In my opinion it is a bit better than Tetris, but I still love me some tetris.

  • So badass

  • Man, it's so refreshing to know I'm not so out of tune with older music as I thought. I keep hearing things I listened to in cartoons, commercials, or atmospheres and it turns out I know more than I thought.

Now it juts unnerves me that people who say they hate everything but Rap or Pop have no idea what they attribute to horror-ish settings was written by freaking Bach. As Luger said, modern music is quite the shadow of the past.

Appreciated to a degree, yes, but a shadow nonetheless.

  • Never listened to classical music before but at 3:18 does it break into Fly Me To The Moon?

  • @laffey31 Yeah it does a bit. Jazz composers and musicians are greatly influenced by Bach.

  • LOL Watch the video for some minutes, then pause! The notes start going backwards! :D

  • Modern day music is just a shadow of what it used to be, back when music was meant to inspire and entertain masses of crowds with great compositions by classical artist. Nowadays music is just used to cash in from people who don't know how to appreciate good music.

  • @LugerErikFtw I wouldn't say all modern day music is like that.

  • @LugerErikFtw Every moment is history has been "modern". Modern day music occurred in every era. Modern day music written in the 50s was derided by those from the 40s, from the 60s by those from the 50s, and so on. Rock and roll was just a "passing fad" to those who were trying to hang on to 1940s Big Band. The interesting dynamic, is that the breadth of comparison to modern music which is the 2000s is that its comparison goes back to Bach. And that's totally unfair to music of today.

  • Hey everyone! If you like this, you'll love Lamb of God! Quality musicianship, and a great sound!
