  • Ok. If this was the Train Collision that happened in Madera Ca I was the dispatcher and I can tell you this is what was going on. Train with camera had signals to go into the siding to meet the train that hit them. Train that hit there should have came to a stop prior to the switch to go in to the siding. Even if the train had speed up there is a speed limit that trains can go depending on the type of signal to avoid a derailment. So train that didn't have the camera ran a red board.

  • Look listen and turn....

  • Blue Screen Of Death!

  • @Boss302fan dude stfu stop being a troll. How are you going to tell me that this wasn't on the news? Grow the fuck up and get out of here.

  • Was this recorded with a Minecraft?

  • @Kuncklebabys um I just kinda said it was on the news retard. So that would make you the troll wouldn't it?

  • Comment removed

  • Here comes the BOOM!!!!

  • People are fucking retards and don't know anything about how railroads work. If a train has a signal to proceed there is no reason to be prepared to stop. The train with the camera was not at fault. You can see the signal go red as it was approaching because the other train shunted the circuit. (The guy who jumped off the train fucked up.)

  • @joecox78 Right!!!!!!

  • @Boss302fan don't be a troll asswipe it makes you look bad. I wasn't making it up that was on the news so fuck off.

  • @Thatriseagainstskate Oh c'mon. It wasn't on the news. You just jumped on here and posted a bunch of BS so maybe people would think you knew what you were talking about. Which you don't. Read the report and get your facts straight. Stop accusing crew members of something that did not happen.

  • The guy on the train with the camera was high on cocaine, that was why there was a collision.

  • @Thatriseagainstskate Stop making stuff up man. It just makes you look bad.

  • @Thatriseagainstskate How did you know this? taste his piss? I thought so troll

  • each engineer should have approached their respective signals prepared to stop, because the 'approach' signal displayed the appropriate indication.

That said, the engineer with the camera won't be blamed, because the RR doesn't want trains creeping up to signals, even tho the 'approach with caution' indication was given.

the NTSB report on this is available and understandably written.

  • @amarkanders777 You are wrong. The engineer on the camera train had a signal telling him to slow down to take the passing track. Which he did. He only had a second or two between when he got the red board and when the collision took place. He won't be blamed because he did nothing wrong.

  • @amarkanders777

Have you got a link to the NTSB report, please?

  • I know I shouldn't be saying this because this would be a bad day waiting to happen, but this is an awsome crash

  • I wonder how this happened. Train lost its brakes or pilot error.

  • if you listen closely you here a "oh shit"

  • your in good hands with allstate

  • That was crazyyy yoooooooooooo, i love the part where the crash happens!!!!!

  • This is why in sensible countries we have trap points... lol

  • SHOULD HAVE NOT RUN THE LIGHT

  • Wow.....some impact

  • he shouldve sped up to avoid the other train

  • @ampthilluk oh gawd. LOL.

  • @ampthilluk Was your comment serious? Did you really think that had he sped up he would have avoided the other train? Or were you just kidding?

  • @Boss302fan assuming the train wasnt extremely long, then yes, speeding up would've meant he would've got on the other set of tracks before the other train got to the junction. it would've at least meant the driver got past the junction

  • @ampthilluk Your assumption was bad. The train was long. In addition, the engineer of the train with the camera had about 2 seconds warning to "speed up". Had he done so, very little would have happened. Locomotives don't load up and increase speed that quickly. So, for all practical purposes speeding up would have done nothing.

  • @Boss302fan no, he wouldve been speeding up the whole time instead of braking.

  • @ampthilluk If he had sped up the whole time he would have been disobeying signals. The first set of signals told the engineer to slow down as the train was being diverted onto a siding. At that point the engineer had no way of knowing the oncoming train would not obey signals and would run through the switch. The engineer did not receive a "red stop signal" until about 3 seconds before the crash.

Forgive me railroaders for greatly simplifying a complex situation.

  • @Boss302fan i know but im just saying that if he had sped up (not saying that should) then there wouldnt have been a head-on collision.

  • @ampthilluk And if he had come to a complete stop 3 miles earlier there wouldn't have been a collision either.

And if he had not gone to work that day he wouldn't have had a collision.

But the fact remains that the first indication the crew on the train with the camera had that something was wrong took place about 3 seconds before the actual crash. And by then no "speeding up" would have helped.

  • WOW i want to see the aftermath of that!

  • THAT'S what I call a Super 8 =D

  • This is gonna scare the shit out of some kids searching for trains on the internet one day.

  • now this is understandable. Jumping out of a train because its about to hit another one. Jumping out of your car in the snow when your gonna hit at 15 mph isnt...

  • Is that the airbrakes I hear come on at the 12 second mark/

  • @Pendragon1989 Yes. It is an application of air to begin slowing the train down so that the speed is safe for taking the passing track. It is not an emergency brake application as some have thought.

  • @ mistercoolio 1997 c u in hell

  • scary, after u jump out, u would have to run like hell, cause 2 6000 thousand ton trains hitting hea don would be a huge mess, the cars would fly all ove rthe place, so u would have to get as far away as possible and pray, i hope that guy got away safely

  • @gogtjgog According to the FRA accident report ALL 3 crew members - conductor, engineer & brakeman - 'exited' the cab prior to the collision. However, the video only caught the last one as he 'exited'. (Junior man!?) The other train crew - conductor & engineer - chose to 'ride it out'. All 5 survived the collision.

  • OK BLAH WHATEVER

  • sorry its just sequin! train wreck

  • OH! and if you want to watch something funny watch sequined train wreck its just dale yelling at bill on King of The Hill...... .....Its still hilarious though

  • I NEVER SAW A GUY JUMP OUT OF THE OTHER TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ItachiBoi7

    it's at :45

  • @ItachiBoi7 at 0:45 on the left side of your screen

  • Now see he had a red signal at the first one

  • @nickelback303 At the first signal this train crew (camera view) had an 'Approach Medium' signal (yellow over yellow). At the next signal they had a 'Diverging Clear' (red over green). They were lined into the siding by the dispatcher. It was the other train who disobeyed a 'Stop' signal that caused this collision. 'Google': HQ-2006-48 for the FRA / NTSB Accident Investigation Report.

  • what second do they jump off? cant see it

  • fra reports that the conducter tested positive for cocaine

  • @jopj55 You're right! Not to condone the conductor's use of cocaine - quite the opposite. But, the FRA report also stated: "However, the toxicological results do not allow a conclusion concerning either possible impairment or when the drug was taken." There were 2 other crew members in that cab, who tested negative for drug use & who also failed to obey a stop signal, which the FRA determined to be the cause of this collision.

  • Lol! I can hear him say 'Shit!' @0:45

  • @olmecbones No you can't. The mic is outside of the locomotive cab. That is just wheel flange noise.

  • @olmecbones But, if the mic had been inside the cab, I'm sure that you might of heard a few choice words!

  • guy shoulda jumped quicker

  • wth the guy who jumped out probably had a better chance INSIDE the train. he probably got fucked for real on the outside.

  • @niceprince All 3 train crew members - conductor, engineer & brakeman - 'exited' the cab prior to impact. Although injured, they all survived. The 2 on the other train chose to 'ride it out' in the cab. They also survived the collision.

  • @wavehopper100 ah ok thats good to know

  • Comment removed

  • aw

  • im with the guy that jumped out every man for himself

  • @demonvase I'd do the same

pretty useless to die for this kinda shit

  • @strangerberry That is why you stay in a cab designed to provide protection in the event of a collision. By jumping out when this guy did the only protection this man had was his at as thousands of tons of railcars began piling up around is ass.

  • Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh SHIT!

  • Things haven't been the same since Choo Choo Charley and Casey Jones.

  • Very cool, I like how the other guy bailed!

  • its a movie because it divx

  • @Amtrak81 You are so wrong in so many areas. This collision was NOT caused by the train with the camera, but by the oncoming train. The last signal to the 'camera view' train was a 'diverging clear', NOT a 'stop signal'. The train crew on this train was not "stupid"!

  • @Wharfratt5 dude im sorry i was just Blowing steam i was having a bad day.

  • Comment removed

  • @Wharfratt5 it was actually caused by the tellers at the hq, who direct every single train nationwide.

  • @AshMeadowGaming "Tellers at the HQ"! That's funny, because the official FRA / NTSB Accident Investigation Report on this collision states: "The FRA determined the probable cause as the failure of Train #1 to comply with automatic block or interlocking signal displaying a stop indication."

If you 'Google': HQ-2006-48, you can read the accident report for yourself.

  • @AshMeadowGaming 'tellers at the hq'; This is a railroad - not a bank! This collision was caused by the failure of the train crew on the oncoming train to obey a stop signal.

  • @Wharfratt5 The signal did turn red at the last second, long after anything could have been done about it. Was this due to the oncoming train, or does it turn this early when the "camera" train enters the block?

  • @Organgrinder1010 The track signal turning from a 'diverging clear' (red over green) indication to a 'stop' indication at the 42 sec. mark was caused by the oncoming train. When that train went by his 'stop' signal & entered the block between the 2 signals it caused the other signal to go to 'stop'. If the 'camera' train would of been say a mile or so away it would of been a clear indication that something was wrong & to bring their train to a 'controlled' stop. It's a built in safety feature.

  • @Amtrak81 This is why so many railroaders hate railfans. Most of you guys are fine. But then there is a small percentage of you, like Amtrak81, who will call railroaders "idiots" even though they have no idea what they are talking about. Instead of trying to learn about what happened here Mr. Amtrak81 just calls people stupid.

And as everything he says here is so completely wrong (including his attitude) why bother to correct him.

Where are the positive railfans who like this industry?

  • @Boss302fan Dude I love trains im not train hater. I was just having a bad that day becuase my dad had dropped my n scale Missiourii Pacific Heritage Loco that i had bought with my own momey. And i was mad so i was just blowing off steam. And if you check my account Boss302fan i 4 vids of me railfaning at englewood yard in Texas. So you shouldn't just assume that people hate trains when they dont.

  • @Amtrak81 My uncle is a current Kanas City Southern enegeneer. Which inspires my love for trains even more. So what im saying is try to say is I love trains and im not a hater, and also try to get to know that person first before you accuse them of something. So now I hope we have and Agreement Boo302fan, Im sorry on making the comment on vid, my bad, i was jsut blowing of steam, Sincerely Amtrak81.

  • @Amtrak81 I 'ditto' what 'Boss302fan' wrote. He and I both work in the railway/railroad industry - he's with UP & I'm with CP - and neither one of us care for comments where the word "stupid" is used when describing the people who work hard in this industry. Would you describe your uncle as being stupid? Probably not. In the future think before you write and try to treat everyone as you yourself would want to be treated. (Even if you're having "a bad day".) P.S. Sorry to hear about your engine!

  • @Amtrak81 When someone posts a comment calling those of us who work hard to make this industry successful "stupid", then I will assume a form of hatred is involved. My response was based on what you wrote, no matter what your mood. As you grow up you will learn the importance of thinking before you write or state an opinion critical of others.

A hint. When watching videos or dealing with railroads, try to remain positive. We do incredible work. Appreciate that and continue to learn.

  • Engineer:"Is that train still moving?".

Conductor:"Doubt it, he should know how to stop".

    Engineer: Why's he jumping off..."

    Both:"Oh SHIT! "

  • @EdEddnEddy4 I can see that being the conversation they would have.

  • @Jamersonde

    Lol

  • Having a good day, having a good day, choo-chooing the train. Hey what the fuck? BAM!

  • ok how the fuck do you crash a train into another train OOO that's how see you on worlds dumbest ; )

  • @cannibalcorpse151 People make mistakes. That is "how the fuck" these trains crashed. The engineer on the train without the camera basically "ran a red light".

  • Driver one: Wanna play chicken with me?

    Driver two: Sure thing!

Driver two Oh on second thought I Chicken out lol....

    OH GOD!

  • Seen it like 3 years ago :P

  • 0:45

WTF? That looked like 777 from "Unstoppable".

  • @JackStanton92

that's because the front AWVR logo was like the H2 logo on the front

  • LORD HAVE MERCY!

  • netton no mames por eso ahi que manejar con preucacion

  • video edit much???

  • Who Won??????

  • Excellent illustration of one of the inherent dangers that the railroader faces. I presume that the other train on the main line overshot the stop point? The camera train looked headed for the passing track at the time of collision.

  • Oh bugger this is very similar to The Southern Araura sleeper train from Sydney to Melbourne Australia some years back the freight train did not clear the trailing points and the sleeper crashed into the rear end of the freighter from memory about 15 people were killed

  • @flammabletube Not 100% correct, the Southern Aurora, collided head-on with a

freight train at Violet Town, 105 miles from Melbourne. Nine were killed (including both drivers) and 150 injured. It was found that the Aurora overshot a loop intended for the freight after the driver had suffered a fatal heart attack (his fireman jumped after returning to the cab from the nose (EMD E style unit) after seeing the oncomming freight and driver slumped in chair. I'm unsure whether a VC devise was instal

  • the engine alone is 85 ton .

  • @24scrapman engine you mean the Engine not the entire loco, if not you are mistaken this is dash 9 or one of the SD series they weight about 180 tons without fuel sand and oil

  • @AngelOfDeath1666 yes just the engine as one was cut up here in s.d. and scrap yards wouldnt take it unless it was cut in cut size. witch made it take longer to cut up the train. and the loader ya that poor thing was creekin.

  • @AngelOfDeath1666 These two locomotives are General Electric C44-9Ws (Dash 9s) which each one produces 4,400 horsepower. They weigh 410,000 pounds without fuel and sand.

  • Do you foamers wear your drool bibs when watching shit like this?

  • Thx, I'll do that tomorrow

  • the signals were red!

  • @strafrag1 The last one. Yes. The engineer on the train with the camera had about 2 seconds to stop

  • Trains actually do take miles to stop.

  • sweaty penisy holer

  • I beg to differ. In the video you can hear the crew drop the which means they put it into emergency a mile away from the oncoming train. A mile latter the train is still going at a good speed which means that train wouldn't have stopped for another mile or 2. Thumbs if you agree

  • @CPWindsorsub The train with the camera was not in emergency a mile away. That was a brake reduction to slow down in order to enter the siding. Read the accident report. It's all in there.

  • @Boss302fan okay

  • @Boss302fan how do you find the accident report cause i dont see any links at all in the discription

  • @CPWindsorsub go to google and look for the NTSB report for Kismet California.

  • shame the camera cut out

  • No brakes then on these trains.

  • @joeyc14m trains don't stop as quick as cars or even semi trucks

  • @joeyc14m even in emergency a train takes a few kelometers (about 5 miles) for a train going around 60 MP/H (about 100 KM/H). trains just cant stop on a dime like cars and the ocasional truck

  • @CPWindsorsub Well, maybe if the train weighed 20000 tons and was going down a 2% grade in the ice with bad brakes. Or maybe it takes CPRS trains that long to stop. LOL But 5 miles? Get real.

  • @Boss302fan nope, well, maybe more like 2 or 3 but trains still cant just stop on a dime unless its like 3 or 4 empty cars

  • @CPWindsorsub Stop on a dime and 3 miles is a significant difference. An heavy train moving at 60mph is normal circumastances is not going to take 3 miles to stop.

  • @CPWindsorsub For your Info: In the winter of '80/81 I was on a 14,000 ton CPR coal 'brake test' train. Under winter conditions - blowing snow, cold brake shoes, etc.- from 60 mph, with a full service automatic brake application, on level track, we took 1 2/3 miles to stop. With an emergency application we would of stopped in a much shorter distance. Perhaps less than a mile.

  • @LocomotiveEngineer2

but what if the hydraulic brakes were somehow leaking out? Then it would take much longer to stop

  • @WowOmgStudios The brake system on freight cars, passenger cars and locomotives is an air brake system (like on tractor trailers - 'semis'); not a hydraulic brake system. On an air brake system when the pressure is reduced in the 'trainline' the brakes come on. So, what you wrote in your comment can't happen and there is no hydraulic fluid to leak out.

  • @WowOmgStudios They don't use hydraulic brakes. A vacuum system is employed. There is a continuous line through all the cars that is plugged at both ends. The locomotive has a vacuum pump running to suck the air out of the line. This holds the brakes off. The driver can create a "hole" in the system by means of his brake lever, this puts the brakes on in a controlled manner. If there is a leak in ANY of the brake line, the brakes come on. Only when there are no leaks, do the brakes release again

  • @MAPFWH Actually on freight trains in N.A. - such as in this video - the brake line is pressurized. Air is pumped from the locomotive(s) - INTO the brake system - NOT sucked out. The engineer applies the train brakes by reducing the brake pipe pressue at the automatic brake valve.

  • @Wharfratt5 Ah, you use the OLD system ;)

  • @MAPFWH Tried & true! lol

  • i'd jump too

  • @gogopaddycakes Do you foamers wear your drool bibs when watching shit like this?

  • what were the engine numbers?

  • holy shit

  • note to self: never go to your website

  • Also flagged for not being your video and useing it for some shitty website

  • MUCHAS HUEVAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bullshit, I've seen this video before... It doesn't blue-screen.

  • flagged for mass advertising

  • "this is great"

    "whats up?"

    "fucking idiot"

And they are so calm wtf

  • lol just before crash guy whispers in the loco "fucking idiot"

  • 0:47 OWNED!

  • someone jumps out of other train which is coming just before BAM :P

  • Damn 0_o

  • i gotta go get me sum train

  • While watching this video, my computer crashed too wtf

  • 0:45 guy jumps out other train

  • F.A.I.L. lol

  • I think that train was a runaway if you look close the brake shoes on the other train were all burned up.

  • @frozendirt9 The train without the camera ran through multiple stop signals. The brakes were fine and not "burned up"

  • @frozendirt9 @frozendirt9 I think you don't know what you are talking about. Look up Federal Railroad Administration Accident Investigation Report HQ-2008-48. It's online.

  • This is a classic RR textbook example of the many dangers of ignoring dispatch light pole signals. The train that got hit was supposed to come ahead until it reached the split track which would then take that track into the yard further down. The conductor that was seen jumping from the engine made the only choice that would have given him any chance of survival in this situation. This is a head on collision from HELL. Two 85 ton monsters heading straight into each other.

  • @B1gO All crew members survived. The man who jumped was an idiot. He dove out at the last second and thousands of tons of train piled up around his stupid ass. He was incredibly lucky to have lived as opposed to staying in the cabs that were designed to protect him. These trains way FAR more than 85 tons.

Both trains "got hit". The train without the camera ran multiple stop signals.

  • @Boss302fan

The train would NOT have protected him. Do you have any idea of the G-forces that would have been put on him had he stayed in the cab and impacted the other train? Dude....my dad is an engineer for the Union Pacific and has been a railroader for nearly 40 years now. I learned more than enough from him to know that you are full of shit. There's a reason the conductor took his chances jumping from his engine onto the rough rocks below. It was either that or risk being killed.

  • @B1gO I absolutely have knowledge of the forces involved as I've been railroading my entire life. I used to be a locomotive engineer "trainer" for UP and have managed crews for decades. When trains collide and derail cars scatter all over the countryside. Hundreds of tonsof metal piling up all over and this individual was damn lucky not to have that train fall all over his stupid ass. The cabs themselves are steel cages and provide far more protections when shit happens.

  • @Boss302fan Do they have any way of strapping themselfs down? Idk if id wana be on a train with 85 tons of force stopping almost dead.... id prob jump earlier and haled ass

  • @YeaWeBlowShitUp Jumping "MUCH" earlier may have been an option but they were going pretty fast "MUCH" earlier. However I'm sure they were hoping and praying they could bring the train to a stop and didn't realize until close to the end they were toast.

85 tons of force? Try thousands of tons of force.

but your option is to be in the cab when that happens....or be on the ground as the train piles up around you.

  • @Boss302fan Ohh im sowweh sir, you all mighty and all knowing sur, im sorry i wont ever base my opinion on anything anymore im verreh sowwy sir.

All i did was ask a question, sorry if my facts about the 85 tons were wrong, i just took a quick glance at your post and asked if they can strap in, my baaaaad.

P.S. Look for the after math video, shows the damage on both train engines, ones missing its cab.

  • @YeaWeBlowShitUp I don't need to look at the "after math" video. I work for BNSF and have seen far more videos of this incident and others than appear on youtube.

You are correct. All you did was ask a question and it's obvious you are not that familiar with the industry. I apologize.

  • @Boss302fan Right thats why questions are asked, but basement dwelling faggots such as yourself have nothing better to do the be a prick when someone askes a simple question, dam get your hand off your dick, get laid, and quit being an uptight faggor

  • @Boss302fan But thx for teaching me that Youtube isnt a place to ask questions, unless someone takes my word of "earlier" and post "MUCH" and "MUCH" like its something i said that made me look retarded.

  • @YeaWeBlowShitUp You're welcome. Obviously you need some serious instruction in grammar, spelling and even clever use of profanity. My replies do not make you look retarded. You do quite well with your own posts.

  • @Boss302fan Right because im the uptight prick who took a simple question into a know-it-all nazi grammar contest...right... i can see by your promt replies this is all you do all day, talk shit and act like you know it all, sounds good, your better then everyone else woopty do.

  • @Boss302fan

When does grammar come into question when you started a sentence with but? Even when you said "grammar, spelling, even clever use of profanity. Would have been much better without the "and". Im sure most teachers would have made u put a comma instead of and.

  • @Boss302fan lool if id of seen that coming at me id of jumped xD
