Nice gym. Can those mats be used for throws and takedowns? How much did you get them for? P.S. The karate I did we kick with the foot not the shin. Which Karate did you do?
@tasneefm Thanks. yes they can be used for throws and anything else. I didnt pay anything for them, they are a friends he picked them up used for fifty bucks. they have since been switched out with some old wrestling mats from a high school. I dont intentionally try to kick with the top of the foot. it is to easy to break the small bones. Then shin is much more damaging as well, it dose take time to harden your shin so the pain of the impact is deadened. We base our stand up on Kyokushin Osu!
@nuthousegaurd Thanks for your reply. Yeah I thought as much about the mats because I've done a lot of club boxing training and I realized that my ground game really needs work. Those wrestling mats look ideal. Sorry to bother you but I would really love mats like those. I looked on ebay and some grapple gear websites and they sell these 64 Square foot mats for like 50 bucks which seems like a lot to pay for an 8 x 8 mat... Any ideas where I could get a better deal?
@tasneefm they are real expensive, finding a deal is nonexistant. maybe ask a wrestling coach at a school if they have an old one you could get ahold of cheap? check ebay, craigslist maybe? good luck man
@nuthousegaurd Thanks again. I doubt I would find many wrestling clubs, I live in the UK. None-the-less you have been very helpful and it was very considerate of you to respond to my comments and questions. You have my respect.
@CrimsonGetsu Yes, I know.....I dont like to name drop because I've never met him personally. my teacher was good friends with him, he trained there for about five years I think, he is in a couple of Marcos training videos.... thank you
@TheDonkeyDudes a friend of mine bought them at a garage sale for 50 bucks, they were made in huntington beach cali. but i dont know what brand they are.
