There is no question that fox 5.3 is a great and very effective product. But SHU is a very misleading way of determining the "heat" of a pepper spray product. A better way of determining heat is to measure the major capsaicinoids by percent in a given product. Sabre Red is another product that is also highly effective.

I was a victim of pepper spray(lol, i laugh now). I was sprayed directly into my eye from one to two feet away. The burning was instantanious and caused temporary blindness. I would try to open my eyes, but exposing my eye to air and sunlight would only make the burning sensation worse. The best part was when my nose bled. Luckily the nightmare only lasted over two hours. My only advise, after you flush your eyes properly place ice on your face and eyes. This makes the burning somewhat bearable.

You think so? Let me tell, that's a MYTH! The milk, the special 'decontamination wipes', water...NOTHING works but time, about 30 minutes to 2 hours of suffering. I've tried EVERYTHING! Baby shampoo, milk, Maalox, you name it. Nothing stops the burning...cold water helps for a couple of minutes, but it just has to wear off.

Pepper spray is way stronger than the sauce of a habanero chili. Habanero is about 200.000 scolville units and pepper spray around 1-3 million scolvilles.

i can testify this shit really works i was attempting to arrest a guy last night and he grabed my partners fox of his belt and sprayed me in the face nose mouth and ears and then he got dropped no mention on how but i was unable to see for 3 hours and my face still burns 72 hopurs after it happend and not to mention i could not breathe after the spray came into cantact with me.

There's another pepper spray brand out there that is just as good called Guardian Hi-Power. It's rated at 3% capsaicinoids where as Sabre Red is rated at 1.33% and FOX is rated under 1%. It's not about SHU, the real number to look at is % of capsaicinoids.

ive been sprayed in training with sabre and punch. now in the line of duty as a officer i use Fox 5.3. ive never been sprayed directly with it but the overspray and wrestling with suspects i can say sabre and punch are like mouthwash compared to fox.

I just did a Google seach on pepper spray and I compared the Sabre and FOX.  The FOX comes in at 5.3 million SHU and the Sabre is 2 million SHU (Scoville Heat Units)

Brent yeah Sig is a good semi-auto, I will always rely on a revolver for reliability and less chances of jaming and they are easy to clean. Sabre Red makes a good spray. Fox Labs also makes good spray. The only thing that really matters is the strength. The strongest legal sprays are either 2% OC or 1/1 OC/tear gas and measured at 5.3 million SHU.
