  • shit.. chris is huge

  • THis is a Fly ass Trio.

  • Well if the sound of the bass on this vid is like that, it doesn't really matter if Chris Lightcap is playing or me

  • !!!!JEFRITO!!!! Imaginario ,futurista, callejero. GRAN CORAZON.

  • jeff smoke and study african things...he's the man:)

mark is the yogi of sax...ahah

  • this guy has got so much syncopation going on it's unbelievable

  • jeff ballard mounstro hijo deputa

  • jajaja, si no se puede decir mejor!

  • Just read the column, "Gimme 10, Practical Advice from a Pro Who Knows in Modern Drummer Magazine with Jeff Ballard (Jan 2010 page 18). Yup! This just shows, Ballard is one who knows. What a feeling. Great drummer. Great band!

  • man mark turner has such control over his horn its unbelievable!

  • Mark's bustin' the rovner, it's amazing how open he sounds with it, I much prefer Francois Louis Ligatures. Major Props to Mr. Turner, though

  • is this who i think it is?

  • Yep.

  • Is Jeff not the hippest motherfuckin' drummer around or what?!

  • @stewartibbetson truly badass.

  • @stewartibbetson dude watch jazz robots. lol

  • This tune is amazing, and Mark are something special. I transcribe this that was very hard..

    Keep Going Mark..

  • I played with Mark in the early 90s, and he would transcribe Trane all day long, except when he was practicing, or on the bandstand. Hes also a really cool guy.

  • 5/4

  • What is the time signature on this song?

  • Now this is what I'm talkin' about! ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

  • I learned this tune on trumpet. It's sooo nice.

  • this is so musical...I actually love the bass being so quiet, humming in the background.

  • did mark turner write this song?

  • yes he did. A lot of the lines are derived from lennie tristano compositions however, most notable "background music" and "line up".

  • Id like to see you go up against turner and see who shows up who. In fact why dont you put your sax playing up on youtube and lets see your unairy emotional lines and then lets let the people compare. Peace and love.

  • music with balls lol anyway i have to disagree whole heartedly with you mark is has plenty of emotions you just have to let go of any preconcieved notion that you might harber in order to appreciate the music this guy is great matter of fact i am currently study with this guy

  • You're studying with Turner!? You lucky motherfucker! What kind of stuff does he go over with you?

  • some voice leading stuff pretty hard not easy stuff but it gets you to play the changes

  • turner is amazing, him and kenny garrett are the best..

  • Ballard and Turner are going to be talked about in jazz for the next 50 years. Their music together is so modest and tasteful. I really love these guys. They make all music they touch sound so special.

  • has anyone transcribed this???

  • Great group, but I don't know if they should be billed as Fly w/o Larry

  • Nah Chris Lightcap is a first call dude himself and does quite well.

    Well, I like him

  • Unfortunately that is the way jazz is: horizontal not vertical, just like in the job market. They move around and they're seem to be having fun. There are exceptions: Keith, Jack and Peacock to mention one. Stenson and Jorman like being together. Way back when we wanted Miles to keep Coltrane, Cannonball and Bill Evans. Did Miles do what we wanted? Hell no! He went and got Tony (the amazing Williams), Herbie and Wayne. That group became one of the greatest in the history of jazz, so go figure.

  • beatuiful melody

  • When you practiced alto sax all day long, tenor sax seems so huge! =D

  • Chris Lightcap is a tall dude

  • yes. yes. more mark turner on youtube please.

  • Mark Turner is Good

  • I think you mean God

  • jeff you`re great we remember you in Colombia

  • no bass sound recording sucks

  • heh bass is never loud enough

  • haha jeff ballard's face after he's done messing around with his pedal or whatever is hilarious

  • haha i thought so too

  • I think yamaha is great but jeff really should start to play his Camco's more often.
