ok now its time to face meta....a computer *uses codec to call big boss* hey boss i thought you made a metal gear for me to destroy wtf is this bullshit? * big boss* im srry snake but your in the NES version no metal gear this time srry * snake* fuck this im out of here kojima hurry the fuck up so i can be in the next sequal in zanzibar land in MG2
i got MGS HD collection and if you select MGS 3 and go to specials you can can play Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2 so i got MGS 2, 3, Peace walker, MG and MG 2 so basically Five games for about $45.00 thats a good deal in a way.
Ohhhh! That great game of this game in my childhood moments of fun and now it cost me when I get used to play it and pass it and finish it reminds me so many memories of Metal Gear Congratulations my friend ... God Bless
I just the whole walkthrough (sound muted) and it was nice. But why in Part 3 onwards there was an ad coming to the screen (at 0:10) and ruining the thing?
@psxdriverplayer Sorry, I have no controls over that. I haven't enabled any ads for my videos nor do I benefit from them, because I'm not a YouTube partner. YouTube puts them over some videos it detects as copyrighted (this game belongs to Konami).
@defuserable This is not a microwave corridor per se, but you're right in that it's the same concept, only heavily dramatized in MGS4. Having played all the games in the series, I can say Kojima likes referencing his earlier stuff a lot.
@DarkEvil87 Awesome game-play mate! I watched all the way through. Did you use a strategy guide for this game? How did you know which key cards fit which doors?
@theduke502 Basically yeah, I used a walkthrough and noted where I would go and which cards I'd need, then executed the plan (also taking pauses, you just don't see the pauses in the final resulting video).
@DarkEvil87 That is awesome man. I told my buddy that you found the flashlight, and he still didn't believe me, LOL! I am going to have to pull this game out one of these days.
@goonies3000 I don't know, if Kojima saw this it might have given him the idea, but other than that he was not responsible for that supercomputer thing and it was not in the game he made for the MSX.
i didnt destroy the machine, when i get inside that room i run back to the door and i don´t know who but i was moved to the room where it´s big boss then i kill him,
@Princejarethh What? I really don't know how that happened, you probably had a bug. I also had one when entering this room where instead of facing the Super computer I would directly go to Big Boss.
I'm sorry, but this game sucks! You played it really well though, but it's just so damn boring. When you hold it next to other NES titles of the time, it just doesn't stand up at all. I actually watched your entire playthrough to try to change my opinion- but it still sucks. And what's with the music? It's always the same. All the time. Nerve-racking.
@newkillergenius Sure, it might just not be your style and that's normal. I understand how someone can find it boring, the colors and music are most often the same and all. The NES had many awesome classics with better graphics, music and more exciting gameplay, that's certain. Personally, as far as old MG games go, I prefer MG2 on the MSX. That one is miles ahead of this one, tough in the same stealth style gameplay.
They used organs from Solidus and Liquid im pretty sure to resurrect big boss in between mgs4 or something i heard dont know if thats right though as i am kinda new to the series
@BiohazardThreat I played all of them. It was revealed in MGS4 and you're right. An AI used parts from Solidus and Liquid, clones of Big Boss, to put him back in working state as I like to put it.
@100espada It's a bit like it yeah. I don't know if they were referencing it, it's hard to say because the emotional impact in this 8-bit game and Old Snake in MGS4 is not the same, of course. Looks like it though.
@96Thompson This is Snake's first mission and he was sent by Big Boss who was... his boss at the time. Big Boss is revealed to be a traitor, Snake kills him and we learn in MGS that he was cloned from him.
@DarkEvil87 ok now i understand what Liquid was talking about in MGS1, but in MGS4 big boss was still alive and on MGS3 u play with him before he was known as big boss
Well, Dr. P did said that a supercomputer is the main source of the Metal Gear by controlling its functions, so it MAY have something to do with Metal GEar.
On the other hand, I WANNA FIGHT METAL GEAR! That's not fair that MSX got Metal Gear, but the NES port doesn't. So I defeated the game, but I might as well need to defeat the MSX version. I thank you for showing your walkthrough, DarkEvil87.
There was a glitch I stumbled on in the game that allowed you to bypass destroying the supercomputer altogether and fight Big Boss with no countdown clock. I the room with the supercomputer, allow yourself to get shot as you leave through the bottom door, then as it transitions, press down and right. You should be facing Big Boss and hear the regular boss music.
@MrBlackSW I can confirm that this is true, you can skip the supercomputer and not have a timer with the Big Boss fight. In fact it happened to me the first time I tried to record this section.
mmmm this version is actually good maybe there isn't a metal gear to beat just a giant computer and the big boss fight its too easy but the music is somehow very good and the gameplay its fun so this is a very good port from the msx metal gear but of course msx version is the best
for some reason the computer doesn't die. Even with 20 explosives? I didn't use the walktrough as I know the game from way back. But for some reason this time the computer doesn't blow.
@Luigi84289 It's the slot for the transmitter the enemies hide in your equipment after you get captured. You get your items back and then you have to remove it from your inventory if you notice it or else the guards will be alerted of your presence.
@DarkEvil87 Weird how they didn't put it after the rations. That big blank spot has always bothered me. Makes the list feel incomplete even though you have everything you can get at that point.
So......in the MSX version, you dont actually fight Metal Gear, but you blow it up....in this one, you don't even get to SEE it, and its the title of the game, and all they ever talk about in the game. Well, at least it does become great...
@Luigi84289 I was under the impression that the lasers were guarding the Metal Gear, but not actually apart of it. It still makes for a challenge, but after playing all the newer ones, It seems kind of slight that you wouldn't fight the actual Mecha itself, it just sits there while you blow it up :P
@skedardestroyer It wasn't functional yet. You are so good in that one that you get to it before it's completely operational. Technically the cameras aren't part of it but I've always considered the programmers to have meant that to feel like a final boss fight. They could be controlled by it or something.
@DSLDARTH Technically Hideo Kojima prefers the MSX the accomplished mg game which is a sony product so nitendo has no credit for it besides this dubbed nintendo version. No offense. But there is credit for the gamecube mgs. Hideo Kojima just doesnt accept butchered pieces of his works and this Metal computer (as the game should be called) just doesnt fit.
@DSLDARTH Actually, I think part of killerkore's comment was that Nintendo didn't even have it first. I don't really care myself about which got it first, but just to clear things up, Metal Gear was an MSX game, first console (computer in fact) on which it was released. The NES version is an adaptation published by a spinoff of the North American branch of Konami at the time and it is even considered a poor adaptation by many.
@DarkEvil87 The MSX version was released a year earlier. This was a port of that version. I love the nes version but it is a dumbed down easier incarnation. Even the metal gear was cut out and replaced by a computer and I've never heard of anyone dying at big boss.
@Zero4ph And I don't know if it's a glitch or if you can do that every time, but I remember skipping either the computer or Big Boss himself by accident.
@bballgolf72 They add some time to the timer at the end after killing Big Boss. Unfortunately, I was stupid and I didn't use them correctly (I just equipped them, you're supposed to equip them and press a button). I say unfortunately, but there's enough time on the timer anyway.
Yeah it's true, they didn't pay attention to anything at all and with all the translation errors, it's just funny. I guess this wouldn't be the only reason why you'd prefer the MSX version either, it's just superior in so many ways.
xD; Mhm. Actually, I started a playthrough of it a long time ago, and gave up because there's too many items you need to collect to beat the game, which messed me up when I got to where I was. -Sigh.-
I just watched the video and I was mistaken, I didn't even use them, I just equipped them, which is useless. Using them adds 1000 "seconds" to the timer. Oh well, I didn't need them since I beat it with 1000 "seconds" left anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter.
the msx version in it.
