  • hello, do you know where I can get the original music for the scene?

  • I would have said it's not the voice, which you DID very much improve, but the sad choice of apparently a full-head rubber mask, which makes him look like a sad hand-puppet when he speaks.

  • good job man, hella creepy. reminds me of darth vader or something

  • i met david gooderson recently and told him that in my opinion he was my fav davros, simply because he captured the scientist perfectly, look past the dodgy mask and you see the quintisential davros a man driven by science not good not bad just unfeeling unless its his work, the true dalek creator

  • I sincerely doubt that.

  • a massive improvement, i wish they'd include this on the dvd

  • Davros had an "American" accent in Destiny!

  • I liked it. You fixed lame Davros. I also noticed how the florescent orange on his face really popped. It was a sign of the times. He sounds much more Dalek like. They forgot to put the filter on his voice back in the 70's.

  • I love it! If this was how it really was, then I would've prefred this Davros a lot more! :)

  • Love the bit at 0.46 as the lovely tom baker gets his nose stuck and has to move it as it presses up against the scenery

  • Much better :) Would love to see the whole story like that!

  • This improvement in Davros is as if you could remove even more compassion from the DALEKS. If you could make them even more perfect.

  • vast improvement, brilliant

  • I actually like this Davros, the thing is his character isn't as big as Wisher's or Molloy's, but that's also due to the restrictions he faces due to a small mask, I mean you can see the awful make up around the mouth area, it must have been so hard for him!

Also, due to the budget cuts there weren't any re-painted daleks and also many props were re-used or very poorly done, so the story itself isn't rated very highly, however I absolutely LOVE IT!

  • i often wondered how davros made the daleks he can hardly lift a finger

  • @endracismguy If you've seen Genesis of the Daleks, you can clearly see that Davros has perfected voice control. Being the scientific genius he is, Davros maybe he had created manufacturing machines in his laboratory that would obey his thoughts and vocal commands. There were always other scientists in the elite so he was never alone with his creations.

  • @DavrosMarioSonic good theory but the Doctor could have taken care of Davros so easily and ended his tyranny by simply just tipping him over

  • @endracismguy Davros successfully managed to outwit the Doctor in both Genesis and Revalation of the Daleks, even while being restrained. The Doctor in turn managed to trick Davros into destroying his suicide squad and even his home planet Skaro in Destiny and Rememberance of the Daleks. The ongoing battle between them, its all a matter of intellect and knowledge.

  • @DavrosMarioSonic here in australia there is a dvd boxset available with all davros's appearances in Dr Who im out to get it when i find it

  • @endracismguy Enjoy!!!

  • It's really not a bad story, but this makes it better, well done :~)

  • The ony Davros is Terry Molloy by a mile.

  • Much much better!!

  • that was brilliant work on the vocalization!

But I still think Michael Wisher was by far the best Davros by far. The latest Actor to play Davros in the final David Tennant Dalek episode was just as good as Michael Wisher!

Ahhhhhhh the magic producers & directors can do when they have a big budget to work with!!!

Again brilliant job with the vocalization here!

  • nice touch of spice to the flavor i like it!!! sounds a little more creepy now!!!

  • This is great, what did you do in Audacity to make it like this?

  • I always liked that episode, much better than the Davros on new Who

Great quote: Untill the universal supremacy of the Daleks is assured, I can't not assume the luxury of death.

  • great stuff wish it was the whole episode with your effects cheers

  • You changed the sound but why did the picture change? It got darker.

  • love the improvement bravo much darker than original

  • Could someone link me the theme from The Daleks in this?

Its terrifying! And I can't find it anywhere O_o

  • Hey man great job on the video editing , it's a really cool revised edition, i like it :) Tom Baker was a good Doctor Who but i do actually prefer Chris Eccleston, and the other two (I know i forgot their names, but hey it is like fucking 5am here lol)

  • This does not diminish was gone before and was incredibly well done. Love the original Dalek music by the way...

  • I will receive all of the RICE PUDDING IN THE UNIVERSE!

  • I like what you did. It makes him more fierce.

  • Could you give me a link to somewhere where I could get the music you used for this? >_> Highly eerie.

  • haha i do love tom baker's doctor

  • How dare you insult Davros in this episode...There is nothing wrong with it

  • @grant24678 I didn't insult Davros. I said other people didn't rate him highgly.

You'll get on a lot better in life if you apply conscious thought.

  • @grant24678 apart from the fact that the voice has no modulation and the mouth doesnt even move! yeah nothing wrong with that! lol

  • wth is this i have never seen this scene

  • Excellent work, both in vocals and music.

  • yes tristam cary effects, and slight enhancement of the voice. good effort . it's a lot better than the pointless "next time" created by fans for the classic show. that really is sad

  • David Gooderson will never compare to Michael Wisher as Davros. That my boy, is just mere fact.

Would you like a Jelly Baby?

  • Is it me, or in the DVD release did they fix this voice with their new effects feature?

  • in genesis of the daleks, davros' mouth actually moved when he talked and the voice was much better. What the hell happened in Destiny of the Daleks?

  • One helluva improvement...well done!

  • New weaponry!? Whats wrong with the plunger and egg whisk!?

  • Not bad. And the fact that the mask was ill fitting can be explained as the ravages of having come back from near death.

  • Well done man, you improved this episode 100%

  • Very good! I wonder why the original Doctor WHo series is never broadcast on the BBC channels anymore? It's like they're trying to pretend it never happened. I would've thought that now the new revival has come along this would be the perfect time to show some re-runs!!

  • @xeractus the current BBC top-brass are ashamed of the 'quaint' or 'primitive' methods their predecessors employed, regardless of the quality of the end product, and would rather relegate selling off older productions to TV stations like Gold or Dave than admit they had anything to do with them. Which is why the BBC hardly ever show anything from before ten to fifteen years ago, unless it's on BBC Four when they think no-one's watching!

  • The way the Doctor patronises Davros makes him less frightening, unlike the fear and heistancy he shows in Genesis.

Great video and very well made. A huge improvement on the original *****

  • I have just watched Destiny of the Daleks and I loved it dont get me wrong, but I have to say, I was kinda let down. Davros in Genesis was creepy, cold and menacingly frightening. I just didnt 'feel' it in Destiny and you've hit the nail on the head as to why, the voice! This is brilliant work thank you, a great improvement. Id love to see you re-work the entire serial :-]

  • Hats off...this is a HUGE improvement.

  • Oooh, that was so menacingly awesome!!

As this is one of my firm favourite Dalek stories, I simply loved the improvement that you made on it.Davros' voice sounded really evil.....

    Excellent video,and I rate it 5/5

    :D

  • I loved this episode, if not for two reasons; 1) It lacked that dark, terrifying air that Genesis had, and 2) I really just could not take the Movellans seriously, as hard as I tried -.-

  • Nice work, a great improvement.

  • awesome. tom baker rocks

  • nice improvements. also love the bit where the doctor says that arcturis won the galactic olympics, even though the aliens of arcturis are disembodied heads in life support machines like in the curse of peladon. urgh that was a bit nerdy

  • Now I want to see the whole episode again. Or all the Tom Baker ones. Tom's the best! IMHO

  • solidbronze is that good at redubbing this clip i think 2 things should happen....

solidbronze could get a job and do the voices of the daleks in this upcoming series.

or, they should do a special edition of and have solidbronze do all the dubbing in it.

or, re-release a special edition of Destiny of the Daleks on dvd and have solidbronze do the dubbing in it.

and not only that, it would make Destiny of the Daleks the only good special edition to date, (in my opinion).

  • Great work..I like the new colors and enhanced audio.....

I also got a surprise by this Doctor portrayal.

(haven't seen much of this one)

He's a little unpredictable, can be reserved, moment later, dabble in serious discussion, then make a joke another moment later....wow.

  • tom baker is the best dr who-tenant and all drs since then kind of copy him

  • Spot on, now please touch up the rest of this episode.

  • just kill Davros there and then, what's the problem?

  • That was really good. And even in that small clip it's so obvious that, as good as David Tennant was as the Doctor, he pales in comparison to the mighty Tom Baker.

  • This was the first full story I saw. Shame.

  • top work, assisting Davros with his voice impedement after his long hibernation!

  • much better indeed! :D

  • Incredible. The quotes yous used at the end were hilarious.

  • it's better , but i apreciate the old one, they tried.

    well done though.

  • stupid recession

  • how did you acheive that voice effect? what programme did you use?

    Hazer.D

  • Nice work! this brings the effect closer to Michael Wisher's original performance. If only they had fitted the mask properly (or rather, made a new one) to David's face.... ah well.

  • i reckon it would be cool to recreate a whole story in your own vision , as george lucas did with the old star wars films - that would be interesting.. especailly with genesis and destiny

  • Is it just me, or does Gooderson's voice in this sometimes sound quite...female??

  • Much better than the original, good work x

  • I am a first time user and i have found this whilst looking for davros posts well done it's excellent.

  • This is an excellent new voice effect well done. they added new CGI effects to the story when it was released on DVD.They should have used your voice effect it is so

    much better than the original.

  • hey, what'd you use to do this? It's sad-for him, he couldn't even move his mouth in Michael's mask, it was perfect in destiny..

  • I ment Genesis, it was perfect in Genesis,

  • I did the voice effect in Audacity, I think, with some colour grading and stuff in Premiere Pro. Glad you like it!

  • reallly? oh, I use a hog. did you have to download anything new for audacity?

  • @solidbronze The problem was that Michael Wisher pulled out at the last minute (due to other commitments) thus leaving the BBC with no choice but to get someone around the same size and shape of Michael Wisher, as they couldn't refit the chair and the mask around a new user in such a short space of time. So David Gooderson came in and took over and any problems with Davros in Destiny can be put down to the fact that the BBC didn't have enough time to fully refit the chair and mask.

  • @OlagGan He didn't - Wisher was touring Australia and was never able to do the episode. He did pull out of the original version of Resurrection ('The Warhead' / 'The Return' when it was held up a year by the union strike though, I believe.

  • @solidbronze Like I said. He had other committments. I didn't know he was touring Australia though.

  • Hmm, This could be an improved voice for Davros' everywhere(lol), I do like your version, actually.

I think Davros should've had more modulation then he did in Genesis and in the ones after.

  • @OlagGan no its because of budgetry problems

  • @solidbronze How did you manage to modulate Davros' voice without doing the same to the Doctor's in audacity?

I mean, of course you select different pieces of the speech, but on occasion the Doctor interrupts Davros, how did you get around that?

  • I though he was OK to start with... The music you added was really creepy!

  • Huh? It's Tristram Cary's incidental music from The Daleks, clearly! :S

  • So why is it distractingly playing?!

  • I'm reading the book

  • is the book good?

  • Oh yes I finished it was wonderful because I tried imagining it and then I watched the actual video and it was correct the book described it perfectly!!!!

  • really cool did you used a bleach bypass effect on the video.

  • Yep, definately an improvement. I've always liked this story. The first episode is great (IMO). And it has my favourite Dalek voices. They took the modulation rate down a bit and they sound very harsh and grating. But yes the modulation on Davros' voice is very weak. Pity there isn't a clean soundtrack and you could redo the whole thing.

  • The voice was only half the problem. David Gooderson didn't fit in the mask as well as Michael Wisher and it showed. Notice how much less effective the mouth movement is.

  • shame really. he could have been good if they had splashed out for a bit...

  • when i saw this a kid, i noticed what diferrence in the voice of Davros in his second outing. I did not like it. U did a good job in this video

  • Absolutely brilliant - I've always thought this performance was treated unfairly by fans - a 90% improvement at least.

  • Wow, great work! With the new voice effect for Davros, and the chilling music you've added, I now find this scene very dark and dramatic!

  • A good improvement, but he is no where near the genius of Michael Wisher, Terry Molloy and Julian Bleach.

  • Wow,I really liked the sound of Davros's menacing voice. He really is my favourite enemy of the Doctor, along with the Daleks of course.

  • would just like to add. nice vid. the effects done rather well

  • personally i dont get the critisms of davros in this. I dont see what it is ppl dont like. my main crisitm of the episode was that the kaled city bears no resemblance to remains of something that should hav looked like the one in genesis. And the daleks r regarded largely as machines instead of mutants in highly advanced machines

  • Yes, that is what brought down the episode for me. Shame you can't make the mask fit =[

    Well done

  • Very good, reminiscent of the Anne-Droid!

  • Most definately an improvement. Thanks for that!

  • That was an excellent imporvement, well done!

  • Good job. As you can see with my video reply, I tried this task too. But I like how you've added in that chilling music motif from the first ever Dalek story. That music reminds me of Super Metroid, if you've ever played that game.

  • Yes, like your go as well! Seems such a simple idea, I'm surprised nobody has done it before. Unless they have.

The music makes all the difference, I think, and shows what they could have done if they had bothered and had the cash back then.

  • You've done a good job with his voice, but I personally think that this is just a good scene with Gooderson. For instance, just remember: "You-will-release-me. You-will-return-me-to-the-Daleks." I thought that was awfull.

  • definately something that reflects the writing of the time. goodersons acting cant be critised when thats the material hes given to act

  • No it isn't. The line wasn't bad, Gooderson just played it like he was a robot with no movement. I mean, you could put him in the corner and he would just blend into the surroundings he was that inanimate.

  • I liked the original voice.

  • So did I. Now we've got a choice too.

  • much better. actually, youre right. gooderson is awsome as davros, the only thing that lets him down is the voice. top notch. 5 stars

  • much better :)

  • It was also the fact that the mask didn't properly fit his face, I mean look at it you can barely see his mouth move, it has no expression.

  • Andrew ,excellent work old boy.

I basically found myself on here because i am a big fan of davros. I only watch doctor who to see davros. I like terry molloy's version of davros and recently saw michael wisher's portrayl and now this gooderson fellow. The reality is that michael wisher was the best davros followed by molloy. I like gooderson's voice but it isn't suited to davros. He sounds exactly like roddy mcdowell who played cornelius the ape in the planet of the apes don't ya think.pete

  • What did you think of Julian Bleach's performance?

  • I thought he was great, though criminally underused in the episodes. The bit where he saw Sarah Jane was lovely though.

  • Fantastic work
