The scariest part of this -- Obama was responsible for crafting a bill to regulate nuclear industries and their responsibility to notify communities about accidents and leaks. One of his biggest supporters is Excelon and they "helped" him with the Bill -- all the guts were removed until it became a worthless piece of paper and was never signed into law anyway. Nevertheless, any Senator who is going to craft legislation on nuclear waste and accidents sure as heck should know about Hanford.

I would suggest that we all send clips of this to the elected officials in Oregon and Washington who have endorsed Obama.

Although there is heavy competition in the Obama gaffe department (57 states. The Great Lakes of Oregon. President in Canada, etc.), I would say that his Hanford gaffe is the worst one yet.

yeah, people who don't live in WA don't talk about it a lot, but it's an issue like Yucca Mountain in Nevada - a big issue to the locals. If you're going to visit an area, you should probably read up on what's going on. :)
