  • President Carter got the peace prize too. You know Obama was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize twelve days after taking office. Upon acceptance of winning it, Obama was praised by the committee, "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy". . They also gave the peace prize to Yasser Arafat, the leader of the PLO, the best known terrorist organization on the globe. This is like giving it to David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK.

    .

    Allen West 2012

  • while he has his mistakes, Carter supported many forward thinking actions that was under appreciated:

    - law that allows the home-brewing, sparking beer renaissance

    - create nature reserves in Alaska (ANILCA act)

    - deregulating airlines

    - Israel-Egypt peace treaty

    - promoting renewable energy, etc

  • How could the man that is responsible for letting the Islamist take over Iran and creating the Mujahedin which spilled to global Islamic terror campeign, lecture others about making peace in the Middle East?

What's next? Bush becoming English literature professor in Oxford?

  • @99999albert

the Shah is a dictatorship .. it is only a matter of time before the country erupts,, just like French revolution

CIA has long helped Shah's brutal reign, especially during Operation AJAX to depose a reformist Prime Minister and training its spy agency SAVAK.. Carter halt the support for Shah,, and Shah crumble upon its own despotism

  • Carter is known to have signed a Presidential authorization for military aid to the Afghan mujahedin insurgents before the Soviets even invaded Afghanistan. Strange that he would later boycott the 1980s Olympics over a Soviet invasion that he sought to instigate. Furthermore, his administration's record on Cambodia is also frightening, because of his collaboration with China on supporting the genocidal Khmer Rouge. I feel these things disqualify him from being a man of peace.

  • what is the song towards the end of the trailer:

can't we all just get along, (something) think it's like modern-day apartheid

this song symbolizes how i feel and would be elated if someone helped me find it. oh and Carter wasn't the best president but he has done good after his tenure. his international and domestic activism has been wonderful.

  • Carter may well be thee worst preident in history. The kidnapped people in Iran; the 21% interest rates; gasoline lines; raising taxes; blaming Americans for the "national malaise", etc. His policies were rejected by ythe American people in overwhelming election loss to Mr. Reagan - a truly failed administration led by Mr..Carter

  • I wish Jimmy Carter could be president for life!!!!

  • Get out your volume of Shakespeare or Plutarch and start reading, please.

  • everyone needs to understand that mostly angery, negative people come and post to get in fights. some of us actually like to watch vids and have nice conversations. i see that most people praise warmongering people & curse ppl who try to help others. don't let it get u upset. some1 tells you to be a better human, be fiscally conservative, and help others and HE'S the monster? yeah right, keep living in ur hateful lil world.

  • He was a shitty president folks. Get over him.

  • Kind of like Bush, right?

  • Comment removed

  • It almost reached 10 trilion last time and bush got it down, i think if bush did it that Obama can too.

  • Bush inflated the deficit by several trillion. The only recent president to leave office with a surplus was Clinton.

  • We tried it rep. way and even if i don't like some of the poitics of this time we should still give obama a chance and if he does good we vote fro him again thats why we have a republic(even if their is about 50,000 lobbyists). Bush adm. almost reached the 10 trillion mark of the deficit i think obama can get 3 trill. down.

  • No its cause election issues, most people don't know there history, like they hav no ideal we turned Iran against us we took down their gov. and put a puppet sha (king) to do our dirty work then they reovlted against him and the usa. whos fault was that ours and British for wanting their oil, they got angry we were stealing oil. Carter is to liberal for most democrats but all of the world sees him as a great humanitarian. he even won a Nobel peace prize.

  • Hey DSD1 if you were floor cleaner you would be SPIC and Span!

  • Funny how dumb racist don't have an intelligent comeback,

  • WTF are England and japan third world countries if we listen to jimmy we would be the most moral nation on earth instead we kill people for no fucking reason. Bush fucking ruin this country and a democrat has to fix t again.

  • Jimmy Carter should be in a nursing home eating peanut butter sandwiches... He is an ASSHOLE!!!

  • Fuck you unlike bush he cared about other humans

  • Nobody seems to learn with History and that's why we are doomed to fade as a species that dared to betray ourselves! One small virus can liquidate the whole race and we still get to be divided into Democrats and Republicans! Long live the Confederates who died and the Yankees who dared to wear freedom to bleeding death! God help us all!

  • The democrats always have to clean up the republicans shit. FDR inherited a destroyed economy from Herbert Hoover, Carter inherited double digit inflation and unemployment from Gerald (whip inflation now/bite the bulet)Ford, Obama inherited a destroyed economy from G.W. Bush.

  • Carter was (is) one of the best you ever had. Don't believe the GOP propaganda.

  • The GOP/Karl Rove philosophy is to attack the oppositions strengths (ie Kerry's war record). The reason why they continuously use ad hominem attacks on Jimmy Carter and bury his legacy is to hide the fact that Carter was right on almost all issues, he saw America as a nation that had not attained its greatness that it could be pushed to greater heights. the GOP especially the Reagan wing believe America has attained greatness and its rise has plateaued thus must protect it status as superpower.

  • I dont think he's is worse than W.

  • Frm President Carter is not a loser.

  • Jimmy Carter was a failure as a President. He may be a kind caring man but he is not a good President. Measure leaders but what they accomplish not how they feel or care.

  • So Camp David accords are a failure? Winning the Nobel peace prize is for loosers?

Bringing down US fuel consumption and dependence on foreign oil is a failure? He is the only former president to have the courage to criticize Israel. He is more active right now than GWB was during his presidencies. If Americans should be proud of , it is of this man

  • Camp David agreement an accord that is the single greatest event in the 60 years of mideast conflict.

But more importantly the President with the foresight to realize the USSR could be beaten instead of pursuing the stalemate of coldwar and thus pushed for arming the Mujahideen with the intention of giving the USSR a quagmire. Reagan expanded Carters policy, it was Carters doctrine that defeated the soviets.

  • Thats what Dems do. They praise their failures and try and convince everyone they did not live through and witness the failure. We are experiencing this with Granholm in Michigan and no doubt with Obama in four years. I can list the Republican failures but Dems won't even put one person on their list. They are dishonest with themselves and everyone they speak too.

  • Try doing a bit of research on the man and his time in office rather than just parroting the Republican crap you've been fed repeatedly through the allegedly "liberal" media.

  • I don't have to do research. I actually lived through his miserable term. I was never more ashamed to be an American as I was when I saw Jimmy as our leader. 22% interest rates, gas lines, and if we all just wore a sweater it would fix everything. He was a poor leader Democrats and Republicans both knew it and threw him out of office. The only benefit Carter had as a President was getting our greatest leader elected. I do not think he would have made it to the Presidency with out Carter.

  • But at least the 22% interest rate was real, you knew not to borrow money you could not afford to repay, the Gas lines showed that oil is a finite commodity and should be conserved and superseded by newer tech and the extra sweater was personal responsibility.

Reagans answer was greed & consumption, the 80's started the trend of living beyond ones means, where every problem was solved by American might not its exceptionalism.

  • OK you must be a retard. The oil crisis was hype the sweater was hype. Are you really trying to convince me that Carter was trying to save the world by having people wear sweaters? Don't you feel the least bit bamboozled? Are you not upset the government is manipulating its citizens in these ways?

  • But the crisis was also an opportunity to move away from oil, the Europeans used it to push for superefficient cars. Wearing a sweater is cheaper then turning the thermostat up, its a simple solution that directly helps the homeowners pocket. Carter wants to help the world from christian sense of duty not one of personal ego. Which other ex-presidents visit 3rd world countries, who else goes to trouble spots to resolve crisis.

  • I think Carter is a good person with good intentions, but he is a poor leader and his results are poor. Good intentions are not worth anything unless you accomplish something. Neville Chamberlain was a good person with good intentions but in the end his policy of appeasement indirectly resulted in over 20 million deaths. Churchill was a drunk with many vices but his leadership probably saved the world from total tyranny and 100s of millions of deaths.

  • Carter asked the American people to sacrifice short term luxury for long term prosperity, his malaise speech is a haunting reminder of what could have been done 30 years ago to resolve today's oil crisis, he was laughed off as a no nothing Peanut farmer yet history has vindicated him.

Just imagine if his warnings where heeded

  • Thats my point. If everyone did turn their thermostats to 68 it would not have solved anything. If everyone wore a sweater it would not have any impact on oil prices or supply. If Carter would have suggested an alternative heating source that would allow 80 degree homes without the use of oil he might of had willing public. Dem's always want sacrafice and they forget what motivates Americans... A better future. Keep selling sacrafice and misery and nobody will listen.

  • Oil crisis was only hype? It may seem trivial to have a president say "just wear a sweater" but what's even more trivial is the passionate response! "No I don't want to wear a sweater, I want to be comfy!", really makes you wonder which party is doing the spoling, don't it? The problem with Americans is that they want to be coddled and told they can do whatever they want & there won't be any consequences. Well I'm sorry it doesn't work that way.

  • No.. The American way is to improve life for yourself and the children. The surfs dream is to scrafice and feed the family what ever it takes. I think your in the wrong country.

  • You really want to limit that description to only being American. Really?

  • We are programmed to fight each other... Lib vs Repub. This is stupid. Think? They are all the same working to the same ends. Why did the war protests stop when Obama was elected? We are still at war and increasing troops. The general public are fools. Sheople led too slaughter.... Wake up!

  • That I can agree with you on, its a 2 party state with voting districts gerrymandered between the parties. The lobbyists know how to game the system and the real power lies with who ever can pay the most to congressmen.

  • You gotta be kidding me, a movie about the worst do nothing president in history he makes bush look like god....

  • hahahaha, i was thinking the exact same thing

  • Bush will NEVER look like god. He's a dimwitted asswipe.

  • A waste of time looking a wash up loser.

  • Fucking figures.

  • I don't care what anybody says about President Carter. He is a good man who does what he can to bring about peace.

In a world of apathetic people, he does SOMETHING.

  • everyone wants world peace. And Carter thinks that it can happen naturally through peace talks with our enemies. Which is a great thing that he wants peace, but it will not come with the policies that he used during his presidency.

A big paradox is that wars happen because peace is wanted. The fact is we can catalyze peace with wars, taking down and disarming the evil nations in the world, which Carter failed to do.

  • Jimmy Carter is a great man, too good a man to be President for a second term, because he refused to sell his soul, Good on you President Carter

  • Great man, terrible president

  • the only people that don't like pres. carter are bigoted war mongering neo-cons because he is the antithesis to their complete belief system.

  • Well, what about those who lost jobs during his presidency? Are they ALL war mongering neo-cons?

  • not the only people who dislike him, also the people who realized that inflation was 20% and interest rates were 17%. He increased jobs overall, and shrunk the wealth gap. BUT the average income fell by almost 20%. the jobs that he created were jobs that paid under 7000 a year, and the wealth gap was shrunk by making the rich (people who employ tens of millions of people) poorer, not by making the poor richer. It is fair to say, ONLY PPL WITH IN A NORMAL STATE OF MIND DIDNT LIKE CARTER

  • It's sad that more democrats don't defend Carter, while, as of late, praising a scum like Ronald Reagan. The only reason that there was economic crisis, during the Carter administration, was because of the oil crisis. Other than that, his end of the longstanding support of dictators, by our country, was monumental. He wanted to change the world, but what he failed to realize is that this has always failed: we're too egotistical to admit our flaws. Of all the presidents, he was the most heroic.

  • President Carter has frequently reiterated the point that his "use of 'apartheid' does not apply to circumstances within Israel."[102] Regarding the title of his book Carter has said:

"It's not Israel. The book has nothing to do with what's going on inside Israel which is a wonderful democracy, you know, where everyone has guaranteed equal rights and where, under the law, , Arabs and Jews who are Israelis have the same privileges about Israel.

  • I wouldn't say Ronald was a scumbag.

Carter's biggest problem was that he was a really decent man but one who couldn't quite master politics on the presidential level and one who was overtaken by other events.

And I'd say FDR was a bit more heroic. Wouldn't you?

  • Carter loved the american people so much that the US jobless rate was more than 10 percent. Inflation touched 15 per cent. Soviet troops marched unmolested into Afghanistan. America watched helpless as its diplomats were held hostage by Iranian revolutionaries for 444 days. In the rest of the world, from Latin America to Asia, American power yielded to the communist advance. If thats love I'd prefer to be hated.

  • Now to be fair, could he have risked going to war with the Soviet Union over Afghanistan? It's not a land worth going to the bring of Armageddon for.

  • you're so naive...

  • Jimmy Carter is one in a million! If only we had more peacemakers like him. He is still working hard for other people, our country, peace among all countries, & he is over 80 years old! I will always love, respect, & admire Jimmy Carter!

  • CHALLENGE I: Name an actual achievement by Mr Carter during office apart from the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

CHALLENGE II: Name an actual achievement by Mr Carter post-retirement apart from building houses.

  • i love how you completely degraded two of his greatest achievements

and challenge 1. he kept america from being attacked on our own soil.

challenge 2. he won the fucking nobel peace prize!

  • No one embodies greatness quite like Carter. Jimmy Carter was/ is and will always be the best world leader. I have nothing but the respect and admiration for Carter.

  • Ole Jim opened the bag of worms that lead to where we are now...does anyone rem IRAN?

  • oh shit. i thought the russian political putin system was tough but im shocked what jews media of america done to this honored Man. wake up america. since when you are all afraid to listen to your own President so not to "offend" your jewish lobby? wtf? america is in a big trouble.

  • Excellent film for one of the greatest humans that ever lived. SO much respect for this incredible man!!

  • You Americans shoul look up to this man and realize the greatness of his work. In Brazil we have great admiration for his administration. Back in the 70's we were ruled by a military dictatorship that opressed the people with censorship and torture. He stoped financing the regime and demanded the respect for human rights. The pressure thet he exercised from Washington forced the regime to start opening its doors to democracy. Bless you president Carter

  • And yet, instead, many of us sit in denial and call him "anti-american" and a terrorist supporter...

And then, in 10-20 years, we will call him a hero, but the ignorance of the US people will cause his actions unappreciated. Plus, we may be all dead, but who knows.

Jimmy Carter... not a perfect man, disagreeable, but in the end, he's a great man.

  • @xawesomexelix isn't that the way it's always been? how many people have statues and streets named after them when they still live?

  • Give me a break. What kind of BS propaganda is this. Jimmah is on his way to kiss up to Hamas.

  • Look at the film fest critical acclaim -- rigged!

Jimmy Carter outsourced oil to the mid east. To Carter, oil was more of a Windfall Profits Tax opportunity, not a commodity for average Americans. Under his watch oil companies shut down here and setup shop elsewhere. Interest rates & inflation soared, poor libtards had rents raised while landlords had steady notes. 100,000s of middle class were layed off in the oil patch.

Hope the oil companies keep charging blue states more at the pump.

  • damn

    still whining?

  • Lasting peace between Israel and Egypt was NOT because of Carter's hand jive photo op, it was because back in the day, Israel slaughtered Egypt, made Arabs understand, respect the Marshall Plan, and backoff, and did what was necessary to win 6 day war. Something your heros at the UN would oppose.

But indeed, Mobush always admits when libtards make point. While Clinton-Bush Sr go on fundraising tours, Carter gets out there and actually does work. Republicans admire that.

  • I respect Jimmy Carter. He seems to be constantly dismissed as a weak president and his achievement's are overlooked (i.e. lasting peace between Israel and Egypt) I would also rank him as the most successful post-president.

  • > Bringing peace to Israel would be top of my list.

Isn't the way to do that the same as the way peace came between Egypt and Israel--by speaking directly with the leaders of each country.

Not by lecturing to the leader of one (Israel) while 'defending the rights and highlighting the suffering' of the other (Palestine).

    . . .

  • Unless, of course, James has gone so far in convincing himself of his powers in international diplomacy that he believes he need only speak the word--or command someone--and they fall into line.

No wonder the admiration by many for his GOOD INTENTIONS is matched by the contempt held by as many for his NAïVETé AND SUBSEQUENT INEFFECTIVENESS.

  • just fyi, when you do the ALL CAPS routine it makes you look like a bit of a poorly informed idiot

  • Oh god... Oh no... I'm gonna... (MUUUUUWAAAAAAHH!!!)

I should have known not to watch this on a full stomach.

  • oh stop whining

  • a whole year to reply and that's the best you could muster? sad... ;)
