You guys are all pathetic arguing over a game which probably a small number of u can actually play. Oh and btw S.A are the best whether IRB says so or not.
@charliehenryrufus its called being patriotic? and loyal to the team you support we deserved to win and if frans steyn was on the pitch we would of beaten you quite comfortably :) and to say it was an embarassing defeat shows that your only commenting to get a reaction because your propably a virgin who has no life, but hey im not one to judge buddy ;) only reason i commented is to stick up for the guy because hes got REAL tallent unlike your quade coopers of the world.. who delivers fuck all :)
@lostShadows91, well you wont be kicking jack shit without carter yeah you can score tries against shit teams thats all very well.. but south africa have the strongest deffence in the world.. you say "we dont need to kick big goals, we score tries" well we dont need to get in your half to get points against you.. haha so get laid
@charliehenryrufus i dont know is it carter? haha did you actually watch the game lol? if you did you would have saw that we actually won we had a dis-allowed try plus frans steyn was out we had the chance to get 2 long range goals that morne just hasnt got the legs to nudge them over all the possesion the game was ours and so was the cup. but ohh well we have the most tallented players in the world we will just rebuild and come back in four years and decimate everyone.
@Durrbstepp21 lol. funny how you still defend your country in the face of an embarressing defeat. sad but sweet. know you didn't "win" - at least not on the scoreboard hahahahahahahahaha! i hope your team had a nice 30 plane flight releasing they threw away the cup hahahahahaha
@tomlishon, listen the irb world rankings mean nothing at all lol... its south africas name thats ettched into the web ellis cup not the all blacks.. i know what id rather have :) i rest my case "buddy" haha
@ demonarrows by the sounds of it you couldn't tell your arse from your elbow do you not understand that kicks are further on angles and some pitches are bigger than others fact. Also wales have a decent kicker in hook but his range is limited to 50m or so you wouldn't even see him attempt a kick at this range
@ lostshadows91 you can't say NZ are the best team in the world south Africa are the current world champs not NZ. And to say you don't need to hit long penalties is ridiculous if new zealand find themselves losing how they gunn a put points on the board you muppet
@Durrbstepp21 check your scores buddy.Go to the IRB WORLD RANKINGS AND TELL ME WHO IS THE BEST.OH NEVER MIND I CHECKED ITS NEW ZEALAND THEY ARE 1ST. THEY ARE AT THE TOP.ALSO THE BOKS DONT PLAY LIKE WORLD CHAMPS ANYMORE.
Is everyone convinced it went over? Freezing it at 8 seconds it looks fractionally under, or did it hit the bar and go over? Anyway, if Paul Thorburn was kicking today at altitude in the right conditions, it would be 70 metres.
Oh please you can see his own 10m line behind him so its blatantly not a 61m penalty, its clearly a 51/52m kick, most international kickers can kick that far. Wales has 3. Halfpenny, Hook, Biggar yet this fluffy haired idiot drives everyone wild.
@Demonarrows Are you stupid? Pause the video at 04:00 if is all to fast for you. He is kicking right off his 10 meter line with a slight angle. 10 + 50 + ~ 1 = ~61m.
58robbo you're all shit, just because he can kick from 60m doesn't mean he will dominate world rugby. There are anumber of players who can kick from 50m, which is bloody far anyway, and besides there is far more to the game/a rugby team than being able to kick penalties. Sure they may decide the occasional game but all and all I'd much rather have a first-five who can read/control the game and kick from 50m eg Dan Carter
@Stagpalmy i'v seen 6 or 7 players since 2005 kick 60m penatlies he's not the only one but yes he can kick pretty hard but how about that 90m drop goal ages ago??
@Stagpalmy Thats true, when i was 15 i kicked a few from my own 10 metre line, my biggest kick (which did not go over )was from 62 metres i had a slight wind behind me it missed the right hand post by about half a foot and was 3 metres above the goalposts (which were admittedly not full size) i tried kicking with my friend at the pitches 7 years after i quit rugby and at age 27 i can barely make it from the 22 now
58robbo you're all shit, just because he can kick from 60m doesn't mean he will dominate world rugby.
58robbo you're all shit, just because he can kick penalties from distance does not mean he will dominate world rugby, there are a number of players who can kick from 50m and there is more to the game/1st five than goal kicking
i hope that de villiers pulls his head out his rascist arse and puts steyn back in the bokk team a freakish talent who kicks the ball further than anyone
they're going to change the rules because steyn alone will dominate international rugby. sides won't be able to give penalties from within the opponents half and they'll have to chase down steyn even when he's in his own 22
@DamnArms12345 oh no, poor him. I very much doubt that he has any money problems at all (plus he's not a total dickhead who's scared of direct physical contact so plays rugby not NFL)
i reckon the IRB should move the goal posts back to the dead ball line, and the dead ball line should be a standard 10 metres behind the try line. they already did this in american football.
at least that way there wouldnt be a kick at goal every time there is a penalty around the halfway line.
or, they could look at the weight of the ball, and the type of kicking tee used.
more kicks to the corner instead of kicks at goal means more attacking rugby.
@UserOfCommonSense Nice name, but you don't live up to it. The fact that a penalty can cost you 3 points, should keep you fairly honest. If it was just a kick up feild, this lot would be flouting the rules left and right.
Firstly, the officials don't raise their flags for "good effort". Secondly, the fact that the stadium is at sea level means the ball would travel less. Balls fly farther at high altitudes as the air pressure is lower. He's by no means the best player in the world but a pretty handy weapon with which to punish opposition mistakes from almost anywhere.
the ball was in front of the crossbar.. means it didnt make the distance... but thats only going on the footage.. its bad quality so you cant say for certain, but i think the refs gave it to him for his effort getting it close :P
how is that a guy gets a massive kick over and boom he's the best player in the world. he cant tackle for shit wats the point in havn a rugby player that cant tackle? n this was played at hamilton and yea its not very high at all above sea level in fact i think even 50m maybe pushing it. yea the guy can kick but thats it. hes just, but i think if mccalister got the chance he cud do sum crazy kicking like that
He's only 22 years old. Give him another 5 years in rugby and trust me, not only will he know how to handle a ball and tackle better, but this guys gona be kicking alot further and more accurate. This will be an extremely strong point to the Boks in the future.
Penalty kicks, yes. If other teams arent good enough to counter attack then thats their problem. SA does score tries, it's just the other teams give them so many gaps they take advantage of them by punishing with penalties, the way a rugby team should do. People are just upset cause their team loses, by penalties or tries, they always have an excuse.
kkimks and speeddemon1112, you would'nt admit he scored even if you were standing under the post yourselves. You can't help it guys, I guess once a moron always a moron.

@PRCORNES He's easily the biggest kicker, though Pretorius, Carter, Beauxis and Cameron Shepherd would only be a couple of metres behind Francois based on some of the monsters I've seen them hit over.
@Intellectualbogan Carter is a very poor kicker. He has had some big kicks, but like Larkham, they are the very rare exceptions to the rule. Pretorius too is incredibly poor with the boot. His drop kick % for the Boks stands at 7%. Place kicking definitely very low too. Frans and Morne can consistently hit very long shots. The others are standard kickers, no more.
@LostShadows91 I think you forgot to put your forgot to think before you put that foot in your mouth. Carter's % this year is at 71%. At test level 67%. Best in NZ? I never disputed that.
