I've temped in various offices and the productivity really varies. Some Americans work hard but some were lazier and stupid. Well, my advice is go to the WTO and file a complaint. Then go to the aussie gov't and get their Commerce Minister to do something about it. Apple closed their R&D center in India in 2005. MIT hand to yank a R&D project from India in 2007 when it found out the Indians were falsifying the invoices. I am the son of Filipino immigrants. We currently live in America. I noticed that the jobs that we outsouce to China may not even be done by Native born-Chinese workers at all. Instead the Jobs that go to China may be done by Filipino migrant workers and North Korean refugees. I know this because my cousin and uncles were promised to come to America but they were told by the Job Recruiter told them they must have Job experience in China before they go to the USA.
Indian IT has been a fraud from day one. Americans are TRAINING THEM. Most Indians' degrees are fraudulent and unverifiable. Most of them have what we would consider a 7th grade education. The whole thing has been a fraud perpetrated by a poor country who wants what we have. In 1998 India's IT lobby NASSCOM *bought* PR in US media claiming "worker shortages". They want jobs here so they can send our money out of the country as fast as possible. $10,000 USD is a lot of $ in India.
I am not sure about the 7th grade education equivalent but I am certain that the declared educational background or work experience is never verified.
Over the past 20 years, I have worked with plenty of H-1B workers. Not once, not one time, did HR dial up some University in India to even verify whether or not they attended the university, let alone the credentials of those universities.
In short, you are right, the entire H-1B program is a scam to hire cheap, un-skilled labor.
Liberals who support illegal immigrants are actually (unknowingly) siding with greedy U.S. corporations. Why? Because they (ie. liberals) are protecting corporation's profit rich, cheap labor workers.
WHO WINS? Greedy companies AND illegal workers (earning FAR more than in Mexico).
WHO LOSES? The U.S. labor class (U.S. proletariat) via job losses to illegal workers & depressed wages.
Thus 120 years of American wage struggles fought since the Haymarket Rebellion of 1886 are being undermined.
The fact of the matter is that microsoft can't hire enough software devs/testers (entry levels usually can start at $80000 + $30000 stock). Where else are they going to get them from?
Big corporations have started development centers in India/China... and they supply to the world.. not just America... Y should America have all the best of the world.. the world deserves to have the cutting edge technology development happening everywhere.. also y should the whole of humanity bear the burden of supporting the ridiculous American lifestyle

abt some protection to our industries.. the GOI's policy is to have some protection until our nascent industry develops to a level where it can compete with established MNCs.. India is open to foreign competition in teleco, automobile, etc. so many US companies r doing business here. One can see firsthand the shortage of workers in engineering and sciences, when one visits any major university. In grad school, 70% or more of the students are international students. I teach math at a university in the US (easily top 10) and I am from India. Yes, u do have the numbers: on paper Americans have "enough" math grads. I have to tell u that most of your math grads have such ridiculously low levels of proficiency in the subject that I could easily give 0 to 60% of math majors if it were not for univ policies. When i came here as a grad student, I would often turn to the blackboard while teaching to prevent laughing out loud. With time, I've learnt self control.

There are plenty of people who choose to teach because of the relaxing environment and degign of universities in general allows them to research fields that they want to pursue instead of being hemed into a box if they decide to work in the private sector. I don't know where you get your stats. American employers often complain about the bad attitudes and sense of entitlement American workers seem to possess. I've temped in various offices and the productivity really varies. Some Americans work hard but some were lazier and stupid. Always showing up late, demanding more money and surfing the net instead of putting in an honest day's work. Actually Switzerland is #1 in the world's productivity. America is #2 and slipping.

Maybe American workers have bad attitudes because corporate America treats them like slaves or cuts their wages in 1/2 even though inflation is going up 4% every year. Think that might have something to do with it? It's common practice in Silicon Valley for programmers to "come in late" and work late. But you've never worked in Silicon Valley, have you? Who built the IT industry, America or India? Why is there no Indian operating system?

Well, my advice is go to the WTO and file a complaint. Then go to the aussie gov't and get their Commerce Minister to do something about it. Then go to the Indian embassy and lodge a formal complaint and say you want that person extradited and tried for theft. But the biggest thing you can do is go to the media and start a negative PR firestorm against India. That is what I am doing in the U.S. - at least in Oz you are deporting them. In USA they have taken over and we can't get rid of them.

If a corp. doesn't sell anything profits go down and employment goes down.
If you take jobs away from SPENDING consumers (westerners) and give them to NON-SPENDING consumers (turd worlders like Indians & Chinese), then BY LOGIC, of course, sales are going to plummet.

Apple closed their R&D center in India in 2005. MIT hand to yank a R&D project from India in 2007 when it found out the Indians were falsifying the invoices. Intel had a massive failure with a chip design project and closed that down. Dell had to being it's phone support back to USA because Indians couldn't even use telephones properly. R&D in China? Indian IT has been a fraud from day one. Americans are TRAINING THEM. Most Indians' degrees are fraudulent and unverifiable. Most of them have what we would consider a 7th grade education. The whole thing has been a fraud perpetrated by a poor country who wants what we have. In 1998 India's IT lobby NASSCOM *bought* PR in US media claiming "worker shortages". Over the past 20 years, I have worked with plenty of H-1B workers. Not once, not one time, did HR dial up some University in India to even verify whether or not they attended the university, let alone the credentials of those universities.

abt some protection to our industries.. the GOI's policy is to have some protection until our nascent industry develops to a level where it can compete with established MNCs.. India is open to foreign competition in teleco, automobile, etc. so many US companies r doing business here. GM, IBM, Accenture, GE, Mcdonalds, Nike, coke, pepsi, Pizza hut, etc.. n Americans r invited to work in India.. n oil tdy is costlier than wat it is in US. no one gave me my job i fought for it but the company comes to universities job fairs but that does not mean that you have the job remember that are other students too interested in the same job as you are and why would i have someone to give me the job once i graduate? this is not cuba.

Wow....this is a prime example of how a powerful media company can misrepresent facts so badly so as to wrongfully influence its viewers! One can see firsthand the shortage of workers in engineering and sciences, when one visits any major university. In grad school, 70% or more of the students are international students. That itself is enough to indicate that there is a shortage of US born workers.

I teach math at a university in the US (easily top 10) and I am from India. Yes, u do have the numbers: on paper Americans have "enough" math grads. I have to tell u that most of your math grads have such ridiculously low levels of proficiency in the subject that I could easily give 0 to 60% of math majors if it were not for univ policies. When i came here as a grad student, I would often turn to the blackboard while teaching to prevent laughing out loud. With time, I've learnt self control.

There are others still who choose to teach because money is not their only incentive and because a lot of knowledge is wasted and meaningless unless it can be passed on to future generations. Some people see education as more about the betterment of humanity than as the fulfillment of the self.
