@Johanvideo525 No it's not. Espresso needs to be produced at a specific temperature which the moka pot definitely cannot achieved. It's strong stove top coffee. It tastes somewhat like an espresso because there is no filter taking out any of the delicious oils which are the aroma and taste of espresso but still not espresso because the best flavor gets extracted at about 15 bars of pressure.
@Petrichor91 thanks for response, i know what espresso is i've been researching it for years and spent hundreds on machines. started with a delonghi e270 (pressurised) and then upgraded to the rancilio sylvia (non-pressurised). but what got it all started for me was the moka pot bought for a mere £5.
@Johanvideo525 How are you enjoying the Silvia. That is the machine ive decided to get from the research ive done it's the absolute best bang for your buck. Im sure it's great but how are you enjoying it?
@Johanvideo525 - i love it, i mean its still a lot of money to pay for what at the end of the day is a coffee maker. But i don't regret it. I also got the rocky grinder (non doser) which I recommend and the only factor which bugs me is you have to ensure you get fresh beans otherwise it won't work to its full potential. I get lavazza blue or rossa off ebay or amazon. it can be hit and miss how fresh they are. If you find a great coffee bean supplier let me know cos i really need consistency.
Someone gave me a tip once... take it off the heat the moment coffee starts coming out. I tried this and it worked beautifully: no burnt or bitter taste!
You idiot, you know nothing about coffee. I am not boiling it, just the water, it's a mini turkish coffee maker and if you've ever had one then you would know how they worked.
Turkish coffee is not espresso, and if the water is boiling, and passes throught the coffee, then you are putting boiling temperatures in your coffee which equals NASTY.
And obviously you dont know anything about coffee, becuase you said it doesnt boil the coffee, when turkish coffe IS boiled, so that isnt a turkish coffee maker.
Yeah, that ain't a Turkish device. It's called the Biavetti (brand name). It's more like a percolator, it does use some pressure, so you can get close to espresso (but not really).
@pudicio No, a proper espresso machine forces hot water through a puck of coffee grinds, not steam. It needs to be under the flash boil point when it comes into contact (~200ºF).
2 words.....moka pot. its still classed an espresso

right. and an italian espresso machine doesn't force piping hot steam through coffee grinds? I think you failed basic chemistry.
