One of my all-time favorite songs, for its beauty and sadness. A chamber-music ode to Remorse, as if to reveal the weakness of Humanism in all its good and noble aims. Illustrating in music the terrible evils Humanity is capable of--then suddenly infused with recompense, the complex powers of human will and spirit to overcome obstacles and take on great noble causes to right the wrongs...only to succumb to the eventuality that we will fall short of the worldly perfection we all desire.
