  • Mike Starr?

  • AGREED. End of Story. An Original, not a cry baby poser.

  • Perfect sound and voice!!!!

  • In my opinion Alice in chains are a metal band....but there is that hint of Seattle sound in there

  • this just plain fucking rocks

  • at 2:55 someone was rocking hard enough for LAYNE to point them out. For one single moment in that persons boring stupud little life they got to make a connection with the ultimate rock god front man. I would have creamed in my panties and died a peaceful death.

  • @myPAINisSELFchosen85 dam straight

  • glad to see that there are still fans of AIC out there. i didnt start listening to them until i was about 15 so... 11yrs ago but within the time ive listened to thier music ive began to "worship" band. literally

  • A. I. FUCKING C.

  • nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, and alice in chains have all got that GRUNGE sound. Jerry is the grungiest of the grungy grunge rockers. It's like all four of those bands went to some special school of grunge and were given matching grunge phd's. GRUNGE FOREVER!!!!

  • przejebana!

  • Haha Layne's favorite song

  • Hah, whenever this song plays on my ipod i get chills down my spine and start grinning like an idiot.

  • Everytime I see Alice in Chains videos I seem to think one thing...F*** DRUGS! Miss you Layne!

  • Paramount? Moore?

  • I see all of them have their shirts off, but damn mike starr is just too damn sexy!!!

  • Layne was THE VOICE

  • this is my new fav alice song

  • Call me a blasphemer but Nirvana and Pearl Jam can only kneel before AiC and pay homage to the best band of the era. Layne was the best voice of his generation... wrong, he was THE voice of entire generation of young men consumed by "modern" society, and Jerry Cantrell is one of the most talented people that ever emerged in the era of modern music. The older I get the better they sound to me. In time, they'll be timeless.

  • @ScienceFecality I am a much bigger fan of AIC than nirvana but you kidding yourself to pretend layne was more a voice of the generation that kurt. and dave grhol is more talented that jerry soooo. your dumb

  • @myPAINisSELFchosen85

I like your comment, especially the end. I sleep better knowing that I'm not the person with the emptiest head in the northern hemisphere.

  • @ScienceFecality theres a video on yt where eddie vedder pay tribute to layne (when he was still alive) so i think they both (eddie nd chris) do realize that they could never even come close to layne (no hate i do like pj, nirvana nd soundgarden but believe alice in chain is so superior towards them)

  • @MsJilsephonie

Completely agree. Of course, opinions are like assholes - everyone has got one, but I when I listen to Alice in Chains it seems to me that there's something more than music on their albums, like some kind of invisible force that I just don't feel while listening to Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Don't get me wrong, I love the entire Seattle scene, but AiC was, for my part, always one step above them. Maybe I'm just full of shit, but I simply find them out of this world.

  • @ScienceFecality ur definitely not full of shit nd i agree with u 100%

  • @ScienceFecality AIC is awesome band but saying Nirvana and PJ kneel down before AIC is just wrong. they all sound different and have their own sound. just enjoy the good music lets not compare these epic bands. peace

  • @ScienceFecality as much as I love AiC, Soundgarden beats them.

  • @superdude13666 are you serious, soundgarden is the most boring band i have even known, sure they had couple of nice tunes but geez the rests are just plain useless..aic beats the shit out of any seattle bands..we die young alone puts soundgarden to garbage can haha

  • @superdude13666 agree soungarden is good but they dont even come close to aic nd come on man chris cornell could clean layne staleys shoes lol ( no hate thou i think chris got a really good voice too)

  • @MsJilsephonie Yes they fucking do come close. Both are the shit

  • @ScienceFecality

    perfect!

  • @ScienceFecality They are timeless bro.

  • @ScienceFecality

You are right, ALL other so called "grunge" or bands from that era are not as good as AIC.

  • @ScienceFecality well said!

  • Wow, just finally bought Facelift, after buying it at a Slackers for 4 bucks. Now all I need is SAP. I never listened to anything off this really cept Man in the box and We Die Young. I LOVE this whole album, but my favorites so far gotta be Sunshine or I Know Somethin... Long live AIC!

  • harıka ya

  • This entire album is under-rated. Take away the MTV "hits" and it's still one of the best written albums of that era.

  • THE KING!

  • 62raz tha weird n dnt think u r

  • This is one of my favorite AIC songs, and love this live version as well as the music videos that went with it. My 13 year old son is learning guitar and wants to learn drums, and AIC and other good rock bands of 60s, 70s, (not so much 80s, but the pop music then was cool if you like keyboards), and 90s will be what we practice with (I play keyboards and rhythm guitar). Oh, yea, they were all great looking guys, Mike Starr was one of the best-looking men ever, I'm still sad, RIP Mike & Layne.

  • @62Raz I'm a strait guy and mike starr is most certainly the sexiest man alive

  • @myPAINisSELFchosen85 Thing is...he's not alive, R.I.P Layne staley & Mike starr.

  • @Camaromandave98 lol indeed, my apologies. What I meant was the sexiest man alive at that point

  • @myPAINisSELFchosen85 I was pretty sure thats what you meant man, just playin around, should add me man, both love aic, can't find many people these days with good taste in music.

  • @Camaromandave98 ya forsure bro-skee I dont really know how all that works I have never added anyone on here so do you have to send me a friend request? lol I know I a tard but I am high so thats my excuse. just snorting 40mg opanas over here

  • @myPAINisSELFchosen85 Damn i love opanas, on 45mgs of hydrocodone now with 2mg of xanax and a lot of beer, haha but ill try to you if i can, try setting you're page back to classic.

  • @Camaromandave98 I can't see anything on you're page bro, but maybe you can on mine, look near the bottom to the left and you should see subscribe and add friend, just go to add friend.

  • I'm so glad this band was around when I was a teen, their music helped me through alot of shit back then! Still my favourite band to this day and much respect to Jerry & co. for bringing AIC back to life!!! RIP Layne & Mike.

  • I can't listen to Alice n Chains for more than a half hour without my voice going out....

  • Wow, forgot how this was a such a masterpiece by AIC..............

  • awesome song.

  • hell yeah! that's music!!

  • Incredible voice. I love Alice in Chains so much.. All the good die young.. R.i.p

  • Awesome ! Layne sound so good live. Those who seen them live are so luckyyyyy

  • reminds me of Jim's son.

  • Perfecto.

  • One of my fav songs by them. Great tune

  • Never before hath mine eyes seen so many white t shirts in a mosh pit yo

  • black guy spotting at 0:10

  • music sucks now

  • glad to be born an 80's baby!

  • the best band ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 9 Dislikes. Are you fucking kidding me? Douche Bags!!

  • @bhahn70

Yea but against 1800 likes lol. Thats WAAAAY less then 1% hate there my friend

  • Holy fuck!!! This may be the VERY best live performance of AIC... EVER!!! Layne was still so fucking strong, before his demons started winning the battles, Jerry was fucking aggressive as hell.... Wow! Just, wow.

That vid is flat-out Gold. AIC in their VERY prime.

  • @runthemachine couldnt have said it any better!

  • jesus christ what a performance.

  • the problem with the "rock" music scene these day as fucked up as it is to say is the lack of drugs and struggle... through great pain and suffering comes some of the most amazing beautiful art and alice in chains is a perfect example of that and if you look at other bands from that error yu can feel what they are feeling though there music, but these days its fuckin generic and i personly cant distingish one band from another in most cases

  • Lol look at Jerry and Mike head-banging. Classic!

  • This song is a grossly underplayed and underrated masterpiece. It reminds me of the more artistic Led Zep stuff rat-bastard DJs and record execs wouldn't give the airplay it deserved because the older, louder, shallower stuff draws more "attention". Lyrically and musically this song has a power few other pieces of music can match.

  • Hey guys come over to my group Alice In Chains (Ultimate Fans Group) on face book

  • Mike Starr was always the hottest

  • @liquidyou Wasn't he? Honestly, he was the most handsome man I've ever seen.

  • This is the REAL Alice in Chains

  • God Damn what a solo!

  • jerry bin all studly at 155 lol

  • When Jerry cantrell walks forward at 1:30... is fucking amazing

  • I saw Lane and A.I.C. in their prime back in Seattle not long after this was filmed. They were, and still are truly untouchable. This is just shear, raw talent that no one can even come close too.

  • This is my generations music. 1:32- 2:16 over and over again!!

  • OMG--I am 50 years old and never really like this type music, but my God how tight they were at this show and the voice is just amazing! Too bad drugs kill talent!

  • @hazzer747 respect :)

  • best vocalists in rock right here; yes plural.

  • Wow these guys were flawless. Everything is perfect. Layne had an incredible range.

  • Best fucking performance ever

  • lol now thats a mosh pit

  • is that a mosh pit i see a 0:24

  • i think i speak for the majority of us when i say, "we missed out on a badass generation" ;)

  • @spenjax1111 i saw AIC and Nirvana live i circa 91

  • @Biltospill Υοu realize you're the luckiest person ever, don't you?

  • @spenjax1111 I grew up in the 80s, and you have no idea when the 90s hit how good it felt to experience such a break from such a cookie cutter decade as the 80s. Don't get me wrong it had its great music too but like I said society was especially "cookie cutter" and it was VERY FAKE back then and rock or anything related to it was "out", with exception to bands like Bon Jovi.

  • @keyofdavid888 so was the 90's fake?

  • @keyofdavid888 I agree with u I was born in 1981 so iam blessed to have expeirenced both decades the 80s and 90s and the generation that was born from 1992 on foward dont know the decade they missed, the best music came from the 90s its was so pure both Rock and Hip Hop was at its purest form in the 90s now everything is bubblegum pop Justin Bieber would not sell one unit if he came out in the 90s.

  • @JadaBlaze01 hell yeah man,me too.I fucking miss the 90's best time in my life. The music was bad ass and I was young enough that I didn't have to give a shit about anything lol

  • @JadaBlaze01 justin bieber would not sell anything? You forgot about all those boybands and stuff... 90s were good and bad. like today. Always good music and bad music. Don't listen t the fuc.kin radio

  • @spenjax1111 Indeed I wish i was hindu so i can reincarnate, I could've witnessed the bach/beethoven/mozart era along with hendrix era ;)

  • @spenjax1111 we missed out on somewhat of a miserable generation this buetiful music is from suffering deep down and deppression but the music was something you wont find anymore.

  • @hizoepoler Cause Gen X were the children of the Baby Boomers, i.e. broken homes, dysfunction, etc.

  • Shit was raw though

  • @dubified89 where do you get these ideas from. These guys were from Seattle. It rains 300 days a year. That's where the mood of the music comes from. Have you ever heard the term "in the dip without the chip'? Because that's what you all are trying to speak on a generation you are clearly clueless about.

  • @hizoepoler wrong. Seattle is a depressing place. Gen X is anything but depressed. Stoned, but not depressed. That's THIS generation

  • @spenjax1111 I mean I was alive when this was all going on, but I was on a kid in elementary school...

  • @spenjax1111 sure you do

  • @spenjax1111 Not me. I watched it all unfold. I was glued to the TV when the broadcast premier of the video Smells Like Teen Spirit aired.

  • @spenjax1111

what are you talking about? I may not have been at the concert but, I was there!!!

  • @spenjax1111 should have been the age i grew up in

  • @spenjax1111 Yes you did!!

  • @spenjax1111 yes you did and it was spectacular...

  • @spenjax1111 As for me, I did not. I've been listening to grunge since I sprouted ears.

  • @spenjax1111 Right!, Im 45 and I miss 90´s

  • @veightengine im 18, and i hate it. lol

  • @spenjax1111 Then checkout Tom waits, QotSA, Awolnation (sail),

  • @spenjax1111 - I'm from that generation, saw AIC in Seatle- For high school grad trip and it was AMAZING!! I love Layne forever as sexy as he looks.... That was a badass time of my life

  • @chalisea haha thats whats up :)

  • sometimes i forget that these guys are as good at playing music as pro athletes are at sports. not every 1 can sing like staley or play the guitar like cantrell, no matter how much they practice.

it seems like any 1 can make music now with auto tune and all that other stuff, you know?

  • epic

  • wow. such good times back then, no one would mosh to that riff nowadays.

  • Love this song....fuck heroin! !!

  • @MadeSiccSGV heroin feels good, when I get my paycheck later today I will be scoring a bag of some powder brown myself :)

  • @myPAINisSELFchosen85 don't waste your money. get some dank nugs of kine instead.

  • lol gotta love laynes mood during this song. its no secret he was so sick of this song by 91. but still gave a 110% performance as usual though

  • I WOULD GIVE 5 years of my life to see Layne live!

  • @scarymusic666 I second that!!

  • I'm proud to be your fan Layne. And I'm lucky, to rise up in my life with Grunge !

  • KILLER!!!!!!

  • Awesome...

  • Comment removed

  • dood had a VERY powerfull voice, sad it ended so soon.. his voice that band 1 in 100 years if not more

  • I was about to see them live but the shithead sonisphere cancelled their participation to the big four gig at Greece!

  • Kids, this is a band destined for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and this vid tells the story. Really at the height of their powers.

  • @20p65s the rock in roll hall of fame is a joke, bands like deep purple and alice cooper arent in there but ll cool j is. theyre a disgrace and i dont know if i want AIC to be included in such a lame insitution. but yes, they certainly belong there. bands are eligible 25 years after their first album so we'll see

  • Where did he get that incredible one-of-a-kind voice??? Such a sad loss!!

  • This shit gets me pumped, no matter where I am or what's going on....

  • what a fucking voice... we as the world seriously fucking lost when layne passed... no substitute since...

  • @bloodstainedcrown You're so right!! His voice is like no other, and the harmonies they do are incredible! I can't believe it took me this long to really look into this band!! What a jewel!!

  • 2:44 is just fucking brilliant and fucking amazing! Wow wow wow! Genius!

  • Handsome man! O.O

  • LOVE IIT!!!!!!!!!

  • AIC are Layne Staley

  • What I LOVE about this band is that you listen to the song recorded in the studio, then you listen to the song performed live, and it's not the same, the live version is actually better. wow

  • @ba773r1na I'm a chili pepper fan and I know how the feel is ;)

  • @neca711 I like Red Hot Chilli Peppers too.. You're right, but I prefer Alice In Chains live.

  • @ba773r1na thats why i love this band and also pearl jam, they sound the same or better live, never worse

  • @ba773r1na Only a few bands like that- Hendrix,Slayer,AIC.Theres more but no wat u mean!!!

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 Not all bands did that. For example, I'm a also fan of Guns N' Roses, but very few of their concerts are good. And except for playing so well they also had that endless energy, it's great :) .

  • @ba773r1na Yeah I agree not a big GnR fan.But the classic MTV conceret with Steven Adler ,I think it was filmed at the Ritz (i could be mistaken) is awesome.Adler really flowed good With Duff,Slash,Izzy. And then Matt Sorum came into the picture and they lost that great in the pocket backbeat.

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 Guns N' Roses were awesome in Ritz.. I belive in a band with a great chemistry like GN'R or AIC, if one member leaves the band, it's not like it used to be, even if that member was the drummer. It's like what happened in AIC with Mike Starr. He might be 'just a bassist', but he gave the band something that no one else could and I don't say it because he's dead.

  • @ba773r1na Yeah I couldnt say it any better. What are your thoughts on Robert Duvall.I half to say I really think its a disgrace.Zeppelin never reformed without "Bonzo" and I think Layne was as special as Bonham.so AIC SHOULD NOT HAVE RE-UNITED,I dont care about how broke thet were or whatever the reason.AIC died when Layne died. And I think all the time in my head who would be good enough to fill Laynes shoes,I cant come up with any1, that even comes close.

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 Layne Staley is irreplacable. FACT. I like DuVall, generally, as a singer, but not as a replacer for Staley. On the onther hand, Cantrell is still very young and a great musician and he should stay active. And Alice In Chains is just a name, even if the band was named AIC or not, the members would be the same, then again it's a whole different band, it's not Alice. New AIC is a good band, but NOTHING like the original four members. That wasn't a band, that was a phenomenon.

  • @ba773r1na Yeah I agree. You always hear bands say"Well he wooda wanted us to carry on" but like u said AIC died when Layne died. They definitely shooda not used the AIC name. Without Layne in the band they lost 25% or more of there creativity and sound. Its such a sad story.Laynes sense of humor and personality is wat made him who he is (and his voice) We cood go on and on about this debate.Cantrell is a genius and one of my top 10 fav guitarists. But its not the same. RIP Layne

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 Layne was incredible. Jerry is incredible too, but in his own way. Layne had that huge voice, I haven't heard anyone sing like that, this sweet and cool attitude and wrote very powerful lyrics. Jerry is an awesome guitarist, a very very talented songwriter, with a nice, sweet voice. They need eachother to be complete.. And with Sean Kinney and Mike Starr they were just perfect.

  • @ba773r1na I kinda liked "Mad Season" way more than Jerrys solo stuff. And there voices 2gether DEFINITELY complimented each other. We will never see another band like AIC. I mean Elvis in the 50s, Stones in the 60s Zeppelin 70s, Metallica 80s, AIC 90s, 2000??? Tool?? And in 2010 I cant think of any 1. There are a couple decent bands, but I cant think of any grounbreaking music in the last 10 yrs. I think Grunge or 90s music gets a bad rap.It was such a creative decade.

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 I like Mad Season too. Well, whatever Layne sang, even if it was a stupid song, it would be great just because of his voice. Jerry, on the other hand, even if he sang the greatest song ever, his voice wouldn't be strong enough. I like some of his songs though, especially 'Satisfy'. The decade of 2000 had absolutely nothing. Let's hope for the decade of 2010 to be different. To me Grunge was the best music. Original, real music, no posing. Just amazing. And AIC was the best of it.

  • @ba773r1na Yeah totally agree.Your rite.Just imagine the songs we would now no, and love if he was still alive. It really is a tragedy. And his lyrics, like alot of other people I can totally relate to his feelings of pain and depression.I was welcomed into the miserable world of Heroin in the early 90s. So I could always feel his agony.I wood be dead 10 times over if I wouldve had the money Layne had.The "Facelift" VHS concert is really awesome, have u ever watched it?

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 You're so lucky to be witnessing all those great stuff when they were happening, I didn't even exist in the early 90's.. But about that heroin thing, are you OK?

Layne's lyrics were freaking awesome, my favorite ones are in 'Love,Hate,Love', and in Facelift they did an amazing job. I think I have watched parts of that concert. You mean the one in Seattle in 1990, right? They were unbelievable, especially some songs like 'Bleed The Freak' were just magical.

  • @ba773r1na Yes I was one of the lucky ones, finally cleaned up in 2008.I have 4 year old daughter that changed my life.Yeah the concert in Seattle, the Love Hate Love version is why I love AIC.I still get the chills when I listen, and watch Layne pour out his heart when singing that song."I want to peal the skin from your face, before the real you lays to waste" Im going thru a very hard breakup with my X old lady (12 yrs 2gether) and AIC is always there 4 me.There music really helps me

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 Honestly,I'm so happy for you cleaning up and having your daughter. It's sad how drugs can ruin a person's life.I guess it's hard to breakup from a relationship this long, I hope everything is fine at the end. Love Hate Love is my favorite song by AIC and the way he sang that was just unbelievable,so much emotion!

I think music is there when everyone else is gone.Being at the age of 16, listening to such amazing songs makes me hope to live things and have this music as a company.

  • @ba773r1na You have incredible insight for a 16 year old. What other bands or music do you listen too? Im sure you no this allready but PLEASE dont waste your time or life getting involved with drugs, or even partying too much.I hope your doing good in school.Keep that positive attitude you have.I hope im not coming off as preeching to you.

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 Not at all and thank you very much for the advice and the nice things you say to me. The first thing my mum taught me was not to get involved with drugs, so I'll never even try it. I also listen a lot to Pink Floyd and many other bands, from 60's Rock N' Roll to 90's Grunge. For the time being I'm not going to school but I will next year. I would like to be a musician, I play bass guitar. Thank you very much for your concern :).

  • @ba773r1na i was jus thinkin the same for example would is way better live than the video version cuz live u can see nd hear layne's raw talent this man got no competision

  • @MsJilsephonie Ι agree. I like it for the same reason, because Layne's raw talent, as you said, is just unbeatable. But I also love it because except fot Layne's amazing voice, you can hear the other three guys playing too well for a live show. Great sound, great power, great energy and of course no mistakes.

  • ALICE IN CHAINS (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, quitarist/vocalist William Duvall, drummer Sean Kenney and bassist Mike Inez_ spent 2010 performing a string of sold out heading tours around the world in support of Black Gives Way To Blue.

  • Black Gives Way to Blue "Fueled by lead single "Check My Brain" which rocketed to No 1 on the Billboard Rock Songs. Chart.

  • ""Black Gives Way To Blue" entered Billboards Top 200 at No. 5 They maintained momentum with followup song "Your Decision" which also shot straight to No. 1
