My people were actually converted into Islam during the Islamic conquest of Kashmir some 600 yrs ago....BUT that doesn't mean that we should malign an entire religion for the bad acts of a few.....I can't maybe talk about the Quran (as i have NOT read it)....but I will say that I respect the SUFI faith very much as it is spiritual and tolerant. Terrorism in history has always been used as a tool for fighting a deeper problem in their society in the past it may have worked in situations a by-product of wrongs.,leading to freedom... somehow. not today - eventually it does get old and modern rational people find better ways of fixing their problems. They learn knowledge is works much better than killing innocent people to prove a point.

Ironically religion can be used for evil to what better way to control people..religion also is a very emotional topic, and governments that learn to separate that and focus on more important issues, like human rights and freedoms.. in the USA it was a process..a few hundred years and still workingout problems..maybe the can adapt faster and workit out..the world is praying for them. No one wants to see a unstable country..just peace.

I say let them solve their problem their own way. I hope the US wont get involved in these hellholes again. They have no trouble executing christians. let them use their own profits from the oil boom they had recently to fight their wars.

I'm not really sure what they are fighting for. The president, as I understand is a pretty insignificant position - the real leadership is the "Supreme leader" or whatever he calls himself. The pres is just a figurehead of state. I wish the protesters well and hope they don't swap one despotic regime for another.

Nationalism is a disease, along with the pervasive mindset of my way is the right way for everyone and I will force it on everyone else, even those who have lived with repression. Like those who lived under oppression of the Shah, who when they gained power, began to arrest, torture and murder Bahai's in Iran and try to force them to convert to Islam. Or like the oppressed Jews of Europe who went to Palestine and oppressed the Palestinians. Or how blacks are beginning their own backlash in US.
