Adele's stage name came from the Western Island in Australia of the same name. I wrote the song Rolling in the Deep about my relationship with Australian Michael Hutchence of INXS. Hutch and I met when I was 15 in 1983 after Joe Elliott of Def Leppard discovered me while on tour in the US promoting the Pyromania album. I also wrote Someone Like You
@jmc9320 as a dude who raps myself, i agree with all that you say. except that rap i do believe is a form of music as well as poetry. even if a lot of the music blows, it's still music. it's just different. but anyways, back to Adele!!
This is a piece of crap. I was visiting the monkey circus when this came on and I almost spilled my creme soup this was so bad. My grandmother was sitting on my lap and she vomited on my Converse All-Stars. She said sorry, but hoped that I understood her immediate sickness upon hearing this. After we stopped off in the security bathroom to inspect a horse's ass, a bit of wind passed through a crack in the block-wall and blew my dress off. That is when O'Malley, the dog-catcher, laughed.
hahahaha...she is so funny..she doesnt care what ppl think about her poking her nose and rolling the burgers with her fingers...ahahahaha...she is so down to earth
@jmc9320 You don't think Run DMS or the Beastie Boyz have talent? You think its an "Art" that doesn't require training or talent? Anyone can do what Eminem does? You act as though you appreciate Rap but you obviously completely disregard it while acting cultured about the "Arts". Have you seen the amount of mixing required for Dr. Dre's music? The scratching techniques in the Beastie Boyz. You do realize they have to scratch the same lick and beat every time they play out.
im a musician...and im not a big rap fan at all...but i would not go as far as to say that rappers are not musicians...lil' wayne for example is quiet an accomplished "musician" but he is also a successful rapper..beastie boys are jazz musicians...how ever you make music it is art.....if it not ones art of choice it does not make it any less of art....all the people on the grammy stage have one thing in common...their artistic ability touches the souls of millions....
Im not anti-rap. There are some rappers out there that have real talent, but they aren't the ones we see on TV or hear on the radio, sadly. Tech N9ne, for instance. But still, I don't think they should be sharing a stage with actual musicians. To me, its kind of like nominating a bat-boy for the Cy Young award. Or nominating a Madden NFL (football sim video game in case you don't know) nut for the NFL Hall of Fame.
I still don't get how people like lil wayne can get nominated for more awards at a MUSIC AWARDS ceremony than MUSICIANS. Rap is what it is, but most of it is extremely artistically devoid. Repetitive, uncreative, completely unable to evoke emotion, and doesn't require any knowledge of music or the ability to play or even understand how to play an instrument. I'm not exactly sure where it belongs but its not in the presence of real musicians like Adele.
I dont think you get me. I am saying that there needs to be a distinction made between MUSIC and ENTERTAINMENT. Rappers should not be competing with people who play real musical instruments and do it live. They should be competing with poets,or club DJs. Its just a completely different thing altogether. Creating an entire LIVE show with real musicians is a skill and art form that requires much more preparation and effort than a guy rapping to an electronically rendered track.
