Maybe that's what Chael should have done. I did not see Silva hurt one time during this fight. He took alot of punches, but in no way was he ever close to being finished. That punch at the start of the fight sent him back, but was not nearly enough to finish him.

Anderson is catching shit not for a sloppy performance, but because he didnt perform a mortal kombat fatality. Seriously the guy is amazing and even his biggest critics know it. Thats why he has critics, because he doesnt brutalize every single opponent even though he can. When Anderson is worried you know it because the other guy gets knocked out. Thales just laid down every 10 seoncds. If you are the challenger you have to take the belt, Silva isn't going to give it to you. I still don't blame Anderson for this fight. Leites was the one avoiding and backing up, and sitting on the ground stupidly expecting Silva to grapple with him. It was rediculous and not Anderson's fault but even still, Anderson could've just rushed him and knocked him out. After a few rounds of that shit there was no way it would've backfired but why should Anderson have to risk his belt like that, Leites was the one not fighting, you can't put it all on Silva's shoulders

Cote was the only legit striker that Silva fought and obviously Vitor's similar to cote except much faster and more powerful. I think the past performances aren't relevant anymore. He was only like 20 for some of them & not really an all around fighter, and the other loses were when his sister had just been kidnapped, she's still missing but he has been able to turn a corner & really focus for the past few years.

I've been watching MMA since 94, so I understand the art behind it. Most of you just see two guys fighting, you don't realize that styles make fights. You don't see the technique or understand the skill-set that certain fighters have. The point is: learn something about Mixed Martial Arts before you run your mouth. Stop hating & just be a fan of the sport. Stop riding a fighters dick just because he's what's hot at the moment. Learn something about the sport, then your opinions will be valid.

Forget the fact that Sonnen tested positive, he dominated Silva, & Silva still won. Chael showed that he is a true fighter, but he also proved Silva is one of the most brilliant fighters in MMA. Silva intelligently waited and surprised him with a triangle.... winning is winning. I believe Anderson Silva is not beatable by anyone in the UFC. I say that as a MMA fan, not a Silva fan. He's just genuinely gifted. I believe he's a phenom.

@jctw769 wrong. silvas face was really swollen. watch the fight again. when he leaves the octagon. the cameras in on him showed swelling on forehead and under his eyes. he took some shots on the ground and pound. sonnen was relentless. so, your 'human perspective' starts to border on blind admiration. sonnen had to get a few stitches under the eye. hopefully sonnen will match that 'eye of tiger', training, and focus he had for the last fight. thats what he needs to beat silva - nothing less ...

@violator198666 Chael left an opening, and Anderson took advantage of it. Obviously that's not the way he wanted the fight to go, but he survived long enough to make his move to finish the fight. Maybe that's what Chael should have done. I did not see Silva hurt one time during this fight. He took alot of punches, but in no way was he ever close to being finished. That punch at the start of the fight sent him back, but was not nearly enough to finish him.

That's another fighter capatalizing on your mistake. BJJ works the exact same way. What you are saying is that every defensive submission win in the history of the sport was lucky. The outcome was determined by silva's will to survive and keep looking for openings, and he found one. That's why he still has the belt.

Silva didn't do anything wrong in this fight, Dana is only seeing this from the fans point of view. He wants Silva to give the fans a good show, and thats all. Silva's style is to wait for his opponent to engage and counter. His opponent was too scared to engage for the rest of the fight and Silva didn't want to recklessly go in and chance getting unnecessary injuries.
