I probably materalised it self as it was orgenally,at least i am able to put videos with respect to the historical truth direct to the bp.c.,this have been going on for years,my kind of arciology
Nobody asks you to like Amy Winehouse, but if you want to have an advice on her, please listen to most of her work before, particularly the live recordings with none, one or two other musicians.
But maybe you know better than Tony Bennett, who said about Winehouse : "Of all the contemporary artists I've worked with, she has the most natural jazz voice. Her phrasing and tone – she's got it." ?
Et arrêtez de massacrer le français, vous faites presqu'une faute par mot!
Why is it that people who listen to jazz and blues are so cocky and think that blues are better than any other type of music in the world. I listen to every type of music and I don't generalise and narrow down to specifically saying that one genre/artist is better than the other.
I love that picture of Lady Day with Art Tatum at the piano, at 2:13. Two of the greatest artists and innovators in Jazz history, captured for posterity.
Amy had talent, till she allowed her demons to destroy her young life and refused to seek help. But to ever compare her with this lady no way, that would be like trying to compare apples and oranges.
Amy and "ok," don't belong together in the same sentence. Amy did her own thing, and has one of the most beautiful voices in jazz and blues. She's up there alongside Ella, Sarah Vaughan, and the like, whether you agree or not, she was absolutly incredible.
With all due respect, Amy Winehouse doesnt belong in the same sentence as B. Holiday, S. Vaughan, Nina Simone or Ella Fitzgerald, or for that matther Etta James and a couple dozen other female vocalists who are a million miles ahead of her. This isnt just a personal opinion, this is an undeniable fact.
I completely respect, and understand the comparison to Amy Winehouse, but truly it's like comparing apples to other, somewhat similar apples, isn't it?
@Blackgeoff1 There's nothing ridiculous about having an opinion, I've listed to Amy Winehouse live, it was a voice like no other pls take time to listen to her Frank era performances live.
When she did covers of songs she made them her own but u can't pls every1. I feel Amy was the complete jazz singer & versatile in music genres
I respect what ur saying about them artist u mentioned, they would have been classed as rivals in that era but in a positive manner but i'll stick to my opinion, peace.
Billie Holiday set the standard as a complete jazz singer, vocally unrivaled until Amy Winehouse came along, when you listen to this song you can hear similarities of Amy Winehouse's style of singing & she was a big admirer of Billie holiday, which I can clearly understand why - when you hear Billie sing it's just bliss & perfection jazz, she's a pure legend.
@realtimes1980 "unrivaled until Amy Winehouse came along" is a bit ridiculous. Ever heard of Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae ....? They don't "rival" Billie; they had their own thing to do. Similarlay, Amy Winehouse doesn't even come close to rivaling any of them. Amy was okay for what she did, but she almost murdered Round Midnight. Amy was only special when heard alongside most of the rest of todays junk music
@Blackgeoff1 According to the disaster whe listen today, Amy tried to do something different. Well. Y ll keep on living with my musical "friends". Billie, Sarah, ........and some many voices gave joy to my soul.
@Blackgeoff1 WHAT A LOAD OF SHIT. How can you say Amy was ONLY SPECIAL when heard alongside most of today's junk? Clearly you don't know much about jazz.
@realtimes1980 .... I agree totally.. I just said that exact same thing to my roommate, who said "Billie who?".... I wanted to smack the son-of-a-bitch til he bled!
@raleighman3000 How disrespectful, we all know Billie Holiday was a prostitute at one point but she had to survive! She was a young teen living with her already poor mom, during the great depression, and yes her voice was beautiful, you just wish you could sound so good.
Nobody does it like LadyDay and that orchesta. I love cruising down the street with the skateboard under my feet listening to Billie.. only then does life feel so sweet.
Ok so we have seen how Sade copied Julie Londons voice in her early work and adopted her style, now the second part of the branding was based on Billy Holiday, not just in the obvious ponytail she used to glue on in the early days but also in her persona or personality... Cheers Paul Cooke
Blue Moon You saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own Blue Moon You knew just what I was there for You heard me saying a prayer for Someone I really could care for And then there suddenly appeared before me The only one my arms will (ever) hold I heard somebody whisper please adore me And when I looked to the Moon it turned to gold Blue Moon Now I'm no longer alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own

I love this song! Sinatra sings it like "Sinatra's Blue Moon" which sounds also amazing.
Billie also sings her own Blue Moon here. It sounds awesome!
Both charming and unique and I love both.
Everyone knows that noone could sing like Sinatra or Billie.
