How can you do tech reviews and not understand why a phone won't sync using a charging cradle? It's called a Charging Cradle for a reason, because it charges the device. There's is no contact made that will allow data transfer.

Keep in mind the 8900 is one of the smallest BB devices out there with a more crammed keyboard, So if you have large fingers, You may want to look at other models, like the Storm or an older Curve, like the 8320, which also has WiFi. T-Mobile is also one of the shittiest providers in the US, however they are good in Europe and provide excellent & reliable service elsewhere, including Data.

I understand that with most of them you purchase a data plan but from what i've heard since this phone uses wifi/edge does that change anything? do you not have to purchase the data plan and can simply use the wireless internet connection within a home or what? how does this work? please help.

@TheseSensesPhail Actually, getting a data plan for your phone is most beneficial. Even though the phone has wifi/edge connections, you should still invest into the data plan. You will receive your daily emails and you also get an application that allows you to communicate to your friends and family via the application. Without a data plan, you will not be able to go on the internet I believe, so even though you have wifi, you would not be able to access anything.

HOW TO CHANGE SOUNDS:

Click on profiles, top left on my Blackberry Curve 8900

select advanced

press blackberry button

select new profile

select SMS text(you will have to do this again for MMS messages, they can have different tones)

select ring tone

all the options will then appear, select the tone that you want & save it...

I would go for curve 8900, i got it today and it's awesome and works well with T-Mobile service. Bold is OK, but a bit bulky.

If you get and smart phone, from any company, you will have to buy a data plan, even if you don't want to use it, that apply for all smart phones. otherwise you can pay the full price for the bb and get a plan with some other phone (that is not an smart phone) and switch the sim card to your blackberry.

The phone itself doesn't require that you have to have Internet access. But when you buy the phone from the carrier, they will likely make you get the BlackBerry plan.
