  • yes but he will get wiped out and get back up

  • Why not take 6 Wraiths with him, using a RezOrb, Destroyer Body, and Phase Shifter? Hard to beat.

  • Awesome idea. Just the Lord with the Scarabs and lightening fields. Why didn't I think of that? That's just awesome.

  • I just messed with Army builder. I don't see how you get 50 warriors, 8 destroyers, 10 scarabs, and 2 Lords in 1750. I come up at 1880 points. Am I missing something? I love the strat, and funny, but that is how I play, warrior spam and Destroyer Lord with a bunch of scarabs with fields.

  • @asubutler you are calcing the full armed lords

  • jesus. never thought i would here a good necron tactic other than shoot and run away. i have baisicly the same modles and heavy destroyers are to flimsy so im totally making use of this! thanks.

  • Isnt this list more than 1750 points?

  • Dawn of War Video game made the Necrons stronger, but made them very slow... it's a balance issue in my opinion that I hope they clean up in Dawn of War II. Also I loved making a huge swarm of Scarabs and it was funny about 5 swarms, I was able to take out a base with just scarabs.

  • if a lord dies and then pass the wbb roll, how many wounds will he have?

  • @19Marvin96 1 wound.

  • @19Marvin96 one wound unless he has the special wargear option where on a 4- one wound 5- two wounds 6- three wounds

  • whens the next codex?????

  • Also, he is NOT afraid :P He is a robot. Morale doesn't enter into it. He sees that his unit is being wiped out and draws the logic conclusion, that based on current battle status, he will lose his squad if he does not make a tactical retreat and attack when the odds are in his favor. A marine might go "For the emperor!" (and screw the odds!), and get lucky and survive anyway. Robots don't enter luck or "bravery" into the equation and thus falls back.

  • so if you turbo boost you cant charge in the assault can you? and how could charge with the "jetbike" rule?

  • the tactic your using is just like speed bump. but instead of using the scarabs to die for honor u use the lord with the scarabs. awsome !!! tactic though

  • I'd like some advice. I play alot with a friend who loves to sit back with his space marines and unload as many las-canons as possible for the set points. As the Necrons how should I counter it? Is there any strategy or unit i should check out?

  • your answer to assault dedicated units will die horribly simply becasue a smart player will target the scarab bases in CC and force you to take fearless saves (they are only T3 and so those assault terms and claw nobs will evaporate a base per wound) the Lightning feild is only s3 hit AFTER you take the wound on your models, he gets a save + most dedicated assaulters are T4 or more. For tank hunting these guys are great but its a massive amount of points for a transport killer.

  • I'm getting a Destroyer Lord for pretty much that reason. Still keep my heavy des. But theDestoryer Lord is definitly effective. Instead of scrab I was thinking of running Wraiths Because for 1 Wraiths aren't to great buy themselves and the Lord will Always have a Invul of the to lean on. My scarbs are mostly used for tieing up. Your thoughts?

  • stay away from the wraiths, they look good but play like crap, they dont have a power weapon option and while their strength, save, initiative and mobility are great they are Toughness 4 with a single wound, anything with armour 3 will survive most of the writh attacks and hit you back, you have fewer men and are easy to wound single wound models, they are only good at specific things and just aren't practical unless you are tailoring your list

  • what is your opinion of the rez orb

  • dude my friend dropped of some warriores, that same necron lord, some destroyers and scarabs at my house to be painted. I can't wait to tell him thats its such a good army

  • i almost perfer stubborn to fearless

  • inatative 2 necrons have not 3

  • I just thought, what happens if there is a squad of ten Terminators and they all have a power fist? There's no way this unit will be able to take that out.

  • Hey Fritz, at 6:56 you said 4 Attacks on the swarm. I'm pretty sure they only get 3 attacks each unless I'm not getting something.

  • if they charge they get +1 atk

  • 3 base 1 for the charge.

  • i been told in my store and it say in the book that rolls of 6s = glancing hit so a land speeder get hit by destroyers can only glance

strength 6 rhino armour 11 meaning 5 glance and 6 would penatrate it

but with the gauss rule 6 = glance so u can only glance the rhino

  • Store dudes should re-read the necron codex- you can still pen with S6 and sixes glance if they can't pen.

  • mabe your thinking of a venom cannon

  • @bigrob98

Yes, that is pretty horrible that they told you that. It clearly states in the Codex that "a roll that beats the targets armor by rolling a '6' doesn't cause a glancing hit AS WELL as a penetrating hit." Meaning you don't get an additional glancing hit on top of your penetrating hit. In effect meaning that if you normally would get a pen, you still get one. You don't however get an extra glancing hit.

  • @bigrob98 Well the Rule is, you glance on Sixes no matter what. On the exception that the str. of a weapon is strong enough to make a Penatrate, so Destroyers, Str6, vs armor 10. is 4 Glance, 5/6 Pen

  • @bigrob98 it says that it will at least glance on a six so if you pen it will override the glance

  • leadership is 10

wich is just as good as fearless kinda(not realy) as if you would fail leadership

  • which of course you would.

  • The original Codex didn't have them Fearless, as fall back can be a tactical move, but in the new Edition, they really need it. But now they are almost completely incapable of taking out vehicles.

  • i think that the necros have no fear because the c'tans dont want to lose too many minions.

  • I tried this list (somewhat modified) against my bros Chaos SM the other day. First turn he immediately went after my Destroyer Lord/Scarab retinue with a Vindicator and killed 7 swarm bases.

  • what?

  • to gamerbill, thats a strange thing to say lol

  • i think you should firstly get another box of warriors so you have two troops choices, then you should get a tomb spyder so we'll be back rolls will be more likely. Oh and so if i'm being annoying.

  • im starting a necrons army, do you have any tips on what i should buy next?( i have a lord, a box of warriors and a destroyer

  • get 4 more boxes of warriors, 2 more destroyers, and a destroyer lord.

  • WS 2 on scarabs suck...

  • theres a great website called wayland games. they sell monoliths for 26 pounds and battleforces cost 37

  • i have to watch your necron ctan ewwy videos to know how to destroy them lol

  • Heavy Destroyers are not anti-tank they are anti-terminator. However, I still say they are not worth their points. Tomb Spyders are, in contrast, very worth their points.

  • From the rumors floating around, Necrons are getting +1T all across the board. The lose We Will Be Back! but gain Feel No Pain. They are getting a defensive grenade-like ability (Essentially the become Death Guard). They are also going to be getting upgradeable warriors (ie make a CC warrior to support Flayed Ones, ranged to support Immortals...). And they will be getting another vehical. Plus they will be getting a new Lord system, similar to the Captain to Chapter Master thing.

  • well i would go for smmt completley different...why dont you give a fat depresed girl a razer blade & say to her ''your fat horrid & worth nothink''

  • Tomb spyders gained a huge boost in 5th.

Majority toughness means that you have T6 on attached scarabs too.

Good swarmlord, skip the disruption field on the lord tough. It's pretty worthless. Reconsider the phase shifter, your scarabs should be enough. And BTW, it confers a 3+ inv save ;)

  • The trick with the Tomb Spyder is to create only one scarab. That way you can maintain high toughness. From the Multiple Toughness values on P.19 and 38:

"to keep things simple roll to wound using the toughness value of the majority of the engaged foe. If no majority exists, use the highest value in the unit."

Looks like if you had two or more Scarabs attached they would bring down the Tomb Spyder Toughness to 3.

  • Actually the scarabs and lord can move up to 24"

  • scarbs r awsome against viechale automatic hit bt a roll of 6, u have a greater cance then glancing with ur warriors

  • use a monilith for heavy tanks

  • like this tactic though a monolith is nice i use it just to yank troops in combat outta battle and i have on 6 occasions if nothing else with a squad of 15 stopped a enemy vehicle from having any weapons to dmg me and on 4 occasions yes 3 rhinos killed vehicles the other was a valkyrie so i was overjoyed but i will agree hvy destroyers are a waste and the necron lord dest. i have seen distracts ppl really well leaving them open for destroyers and troops and takes out landraiders quite nicely

  • and scarabs 12 pnts 3 wound if nothing else use 5 alone and use them to slow a shoot heavy troop that is annoying you

  • do the scarabs get the save on template weapons too?

  • only if the template weapon avoids cover

  • It just seems to me such a unit would be very fragile, even with a 2+ cover save. First is the majority toughness so almost every hit will wound, forcing a lot of dice rolls. Second if you are turbo-boosting to get close to a tank there is a good chance you will be in range of a flamer. Third, any unsaved wound STR6 or higher means removing a whole base even further reducing the longevity. Lootas or warwalkers would be deadly. Last is the ignore cover templates like Whirlwinds.

  • Right on the spot! Great Necron info for those that are not as familiar with them. Gives a good overview!

  • I wonder what is Ur idea of dealing with GK Incinerators ignoring cover save. Fried scarabs? ^^

  • all flamer weapons ignore cover, the idea is the scarabs are fast enough that flamer weapons are going to have problems doing damage to them.

  • @coldnova

Looks 2 me, like this scarab going to be primary target. Nothin else takin attention.

Drop with sternguard will just own them. (2 heavy flamer 5points each and ammo ignoring cover in every rapid fireing bolter)

I'm not saying it is bad combination, think it is to fragile thou. Can't count on it in my opinion.

    Regards,

  • dude...you change armys too much haha....more then me... the only difference is that you can go out and buy models :)

  • well dude think about how long fritz and jawaballs have been playing so their collection has accumilated

  • im thinking around 5 years
