I love Radiohead and Coldplay, they definatly shouldn't be compared against each other, they are completly different. Coldplay is the band you listen to when your girlfriend is in the car, Radiohead is the band you listen to when she breaks up with you.
I heard this album with a group of friends, musicians all, for the first time in the 90´s and it was such a great experience, then we had no doubt Ok Computer was a total masterpiece, I remember thinking : this must be how people in the 60´s felt after listening sargent pepper´s for the very first time...
@PirateDumbell pshh.. none is a poor mans version of the others.. theyre just musicians.. how are you supposed to do music if you dont the music alike to that you love and enjoy listening yourself.. and the one that inspired you in the first place? just cope with it.. there exist other bands who will sound alike and theres nothing wrong with that... several of the great musicians of time have said it.. "geniuses steal"
listening to the 01 and 10 playlist. The haunting singing voices in Let Down and Exit music Reminds of Where is My Mind by the Pixies. Except Where is my Mind is 20 times better
Santa Claus,God,My belief in life after death,my cock after too many beers...What a let down.Still, there`s always Radiohead to put everything in the right place ^.^
This remains my all time favourite track of all time. Somehow I just never tire of it. I don't what it is that makes it so good which in itself makes it even better. I pity the fools that find it depressing as it just blows my socks clean off every time.
@PirateDumbell I would have to full heartedly disagree with your statement. Oasis, although I do contend, has somewhat of a beatlesque ambiance to them, they, as well as coldplay, are different in their own respects. Might I add that all of which are phenomenal bands, and that they should be compared by the way they emit and portray certain emotions.
@DaoWoW oasis seem more of a money-making, by-the-numbers exercise to me than anything else and coldplay, whilst less cynical than oasis, really are the dullest band in the world. radiohead, in my opinion, would still make the same music in a shed, skint, and be happy doing it. the greatest band of a generation is no understatement.
Let Down is the best track on this album, but that doesn't matter mutch. It's a part of the whole. This is the best concept album since Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
It's been called the best album of not just our generation, but of all time. After listening to it again, I may be inclined to agree. It has passion, but it's refined. It has meaning, but it's subtle, it's vocals are perfect, the guitar work is incredible. This song is a great example of it. There may not be an album as perfectly crafted as this. Easily the best of the past 20 years, and among the top 5 ever.
@WolfmanBell no itz not the best album of all time and definitely not the best album of our time...Itz great and could be in the top 10 albums of the 90s....But in my opinion itz not the best in the past 20 years...For me that would be nevermind by nirvana....that album is considered one of the best ever.............
@Troy211619 what are you saying....dont get me wrong i know ok computer is a great album...but nevermind is too good...if your opinion is based on only smells like teen spirit then you should really listen to the whole album and if not then your wrong...it is listed as one of the greatest albums of all time...check any list and you'll find it higher on the list then ok computer =)
@VeyLaren Nah, not just that. But I'm sure that Smells Like Teen Spirit gave a huge contribution for that rank of the album. I have listened to Nevermind and I can say it was fine, but I don't care about the rankings because those rankings just tell how mainstream a band is. Radiohead wasn't made for the mainstream market you know. Unlike Nirvana who has to be one of the most overrated bands..
@Troy211619 I guess then itz just preference...i guess i prefer nirvana over radiohead But both of em are great bands in my book =) and for the record i dont really think nirvana meant their album "nevermind" to be mainstream and commercial...People loved the album and listed it as one of the best albums of all time bcoz it is...But itz your opinion if you think they are overrated =)
@VeyLaren yeah, its a matter of opinion, but I do like some songs from Nevermind like Lithium, Something In The Way, and Drain You, but I just don't think its better than this..
@majhankee Yeah, this whole Radiohead vs Muse thing is just stupid. When can one learn that Muse and Radiohead don't even sound alike! I mean Muse and Radioehad are just like comparing The Beatles to Queen, The Beatles were art(Radiohead) and Queen were epic(Muse) and both made great but very different songs!
This is the only song that I have ever called "the best song, ever." I try to be careful with saying things like that--and to only say them when they're true. So: this is the best song, ever.
One point in a million points that prove this song is awesome: who in the world but Thom Yorke could make the sterile-sounding words "a chemical reaction" sound so beautiful?!
blur is really good just not as good as radio head, and maybe he is genius but it takes something phenomenal to get through to the audience like these few amazing artist do. i was a big korn and bullshit band kid as i got a little older and found radiohead it blew my mind and they will be hard to touch as far as talent and creators. muse is copying the crap out of everyone, but sound good.
To be honest, radiohead are famous, but they're not that popular, and not too many people know them, i asked someone if they knew the beatles and they said no, so much for being remembered.
Yeah it will, that's the way the worlds heading. When nob heads like 'chipmunk' are considered innovative 'artists' and are constantly in the charts then devolution has well and truly begun.
I like Blur, but I think people will forget them as generations pass, I don't think Radiohead will be forgotten for as long as music is a popular activity amongst mankind! I just lumped them in as bands that I think will be forgotten, but that's not to say I dislike them, I am a fan of Blur and dislike Oasis.
The most creative, talented band since The Beatles. They may not have been as acclaimed as they should have been in the 90's but in generations to come Oasis will fall by the wayside, as will Blur, and other generic 90's karaoke bullshit. Proper music will stand at the top. Bands like The Beatles & Radiohead will be remembered for generations.
Radiohead ? to be very honest. Not one album have I Disliked. I have never new of another Group or band that has been able to do this for me. This has to be my all time favorite song.
