  • its a little confusing, you never say that your in open d tuning, had to play a little with my guitar to find out, you should write it on top for those who dont have an ear.

  • "I sold my soul to him so he'd learn me to play this here guitar. It was just my soul. I wasn't using it." :)

  • that was blues drudge - pointlessly aimless arithmatic

  • @luckyhorsecinema it's a lesson not a show. as the video progresses more advanced techniques are introduced. this is the first lesson out of many on the complete video. you'll have to let me check out your guitar lesson videos some time.... why i'll bet they are awesome just blazing right out of the gate i hope my tiny mind can comprehend you mind blowing chops!!!!

  • @swampcandy yeah ok whatever, - maybe my comment was a little harsh. S'just this has got nothing to do with the way i aproach music making so i don't get it at all. For me a song is a spark, my ears are my teacher, and after that any technique comes about through necessity to express something i couldn't do before being the mother of invention - other than that i know sh*t about guitar playing / musical excellence in general, Sorry for any offence caused.

  • @luckyhorsecinema just to set the record straight on this page:..... all of you should check out luckyhorsecinema he is actually fantastic. music is for sharing not comparing. enjoy!

  • I thought it was Jack White from the tumbnail....

  • @surrealisticlee Reminds me of Captain Beefheart!

  • I think I am getting the I, IV, and V progression confused with the CAGED system. Which is actually EDCAG. That therory deals with chord shapes and not progression right? I think I have got it figured out by watching the video. Are you saying D in the one? With that said, there are 7 positions total for each root note? In other words, DEFGABC = I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII. This therory starts in D and goes to C right? Would like to hear a simple explaination of the 1 to the 4 to the 5. Thx.

  • good blues lesson.

  • Thanks

this is an excerpt from a DVD.

  • you should probably mention that youre in open d, for less experienced players

  • @SmilinTunes I was under the impression that he many be in open G tunning. Which is basicly Drop D tuning, adding that you change the A (5th string) to B. Which is tunning I use for Traveling Riverside Blues.

  • @SmilinTunes Definitely. He's in open D. That's why he says that one of the D chords is simply strumming the open strings. I just learned about open D tuning. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have had any idea of what he was talking about! Good point.

  • I Like string buzz. That is intentional! I address dampening in a later chapter of the dvd, And i'll where my slide on what ever finger i please. You should make your own video.

  • He´s not using the normal G tunning, right?

  • He's using open A sounds like to me

  • Ooops I meant open D sorry

  • He's tuned the resonator to the chord of D. Low E to D, Hight E to D, B to A and G to F#. A string and G string stay as they are

  • The tuning is VESTAPOL D,A,D,F#,A,D. also known as Drop D

  • The tuning is open D. Dropped D is E strings dropped to D only (as used by Neil Young in Cinnamon Girl).

  • @MauserKAR98a Damn, thanks man! You shouldn't be the one to have to tell us that. If fat Jack White here knew what he was doing, that would have been among the first things he mentioned. Thanks again!

  • Great lesson keep going post more.
