How is symbolism an effective mode of control anyways? Symbolism, subliminal or not, is MEANINGLESS without context. When I see a pentagram I do not think of Satan, I most often think of stars in the sky or, having a background in mathematics and a deep respect for geometry, I think of the group of operations that preserve the symmetry of the configuration. It takes a leap of faith to associate it with something else, an assumption that many of its adopted meanings is being used.

Yes, evil is a common theme of religion. The question is whether or not the pentagram existed as a symbol of flirtations with the dark before monotheism: answer, it did not. The symbol has religious origins in India but was discovered independently (and made famous) by the Pythagoreans in a premature study of group symmetries. @DavidAlanRogers many, many years. Do me a favor, and I'm being serious...look up a book called "The Secret Teachings of All Ages" by Manly P. Hall...you will be blown away at how alive and well many ancient symbols, rituals and traditions are, especially since you seem to think they're all just coincidental, and that there is no evidence of occultism...it's quite an eye opening book, check it out on Amazon...again I'm just trying to show you that some cultures still fully embrace these things.

I do NOT believe the occurrence of said symbols is coincidental, I just think it is banal and completely unimportant given the ubiquity of pentagrams, triangles and even swastikas in human history. It means that attributing their existence to something else is unwarranted. Saying that how old they are is a demonstration of the age of secret societies is a leap of faith, for you have no evidence to back that. You can't attack something fundamental on no basis at all, it is equivalent to tell me that clouds are made by unicorns.

In either case, I respect your argument, because in truth they cannot be DIRECTLY connected to one another. However, symbols like the Eye of Horus are not just used in Hollywood. Have you ever looked on the back of the dollar bill? The All-Seeing-Eye, which has roots in ancient Egypt for it's representation of God, is still used today for the same purpose, on something everyone sees daily.
