  • There is NO need to understand even alittle Greek word...for if you study the time honored King James Translation you will begin to understand that it far supercedes the Greek!! When a person thinks that going to the "greek" will enhance their study they are just fooling themselves dear!! God is no longer using the Greek my dear!! He is using the English bible (bible, not bibles) known as the King James Bible!!

  • @mrmark262 I do use the KJB bro. Have for the last 20+ years. Love it, trust it and believe it. Wear them out.

  • Oh boy...the greek...whoopie...the greek....oh boy...the greek....golly gee.....the greek

  • @mrmark262 Mark, if you noticed I did not try to "correct" the Scripture or "change" the Scripture. I don't like or approve of that either. All I did was explain how it is translated "For" and how you can use that for study. No need for the attitude brother. Blessings

  • @mrmark262 yeah, it's kinda the language the NT was originally written in, definitely worth studying. I enjoy it alot.

  • One amazing thing is this: In the world there is ideology, humanism, philosophy, and atheism, but Paul makes it clear that although we are in the world, we are not of the world, meaning that we do not follow people's example of mentality and sefish thinking. The world promotes free thinkers, which is totally against the mind of Christ, which is to serve the true and living God. Therefore, by the spirit of God, (christ) we are to walk according to the promises that we have in Christ Jesus.

  • when you are comparing the kjv, niv and others with each other, you need to recognize the difference between the basis they are translated from. KJV is from the majority text, and the niv and such are from the gnostic texts like alexandrian, sianaticus and others. i reject the gnostic versions as poluted as I believe Paul was pointing to them when he was speaking of 'preaching other christs'.

  • @chosen1atWork "Gar" is in the Greek texts of both manuscripts. I also prefer the majority text backing the KJ. Never the less, "gar" is in both in the Greek. It is not translated into English in some of the more dynamic translations. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Here is another use: Gal 3:26 FOR in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. 27 FOR as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. - ESV

One is a son of God through faith; HOW? FOR (gar) he/she is IN Christ Jesus. And HOW or WHY is one IN Christ Jesus? BECAUSE (FOR; GAR) one is BAPTIZED INTO Christ to "put on" Christ.

Good study! As for women leading congregations, I'm afraid the English translation forbidding such is clear enough (1Cor 14:34-38; 1Tim 2:12). :-(

  • @demcdoug Great comment, thank you!

As for women leading congregations, why the frown face? Youtube is not a congregation. It is the market square. I am leading no one or have no authority over a man.

Thanks again for providing another use of gar. It truly opens up the Scriptures doesn't it? God bless!

  • @bondservant40 You surprised me in allowing my post. Most who sensor will not accept challenges to their predispositions. The frown face has nothing to do with your teaching a Greek lesson on YouTube, however I can't help but notice the "title" "Pastor" bearing certain connotations of church leadership in the congregation for which you preach.

  • @demcdoug I don't take the title pastor. This is no more than people talking to each other in the market square. If someone learns something while we talk, great. If you are a man, you come to my channel voluntarily. Blessings

  • @bondservant40 Jesus condemned religious titles and garb (clergy v laity, collars, et. al.) in Mt 20:25-28; 23:5-12. Beyond this, you cite Aquila and Priscilla in another message, and the very significant contributions of women in the NT. These are not examples of church leadership, honoring the order God set forth in both marriage and the assembly. Even Deborah the OT prophetess knew it was a disgrace to Israel that no men were willing to step up to their responsibility to judge the people.

  • @demcdoug Again, I am not a pastor. Just because someone has a seminary degree does not mean they are a pastor or lead a congregation. Have no idea where you are coming from. Will end this discussion now. Good day.

  • @bondservant40 I apparently got you confused with "Pastor Melissa Scott" and so you have my sincere apologies. I agree that posting on YouTube is indeed akin to Priscilla assisting Aquila in teaching Apollos ...even though you apparently aren't even making that argument. :-)

  • @demcdoug Paster Melissa Scott - Oh , yep, I know who she is. She is also a pretender. :(

Glad the confusion is cleared up. Thank you. Have a blessed day friend. :)

  • @bondservant40 Thanks for acknowledging me as a friend in spite of my error. It looks as though you might share some of my "righteous indignation" where the impostor is concerned.

Do you have a similar lesson or thought on the Greek word "eis" and its consistent (or not) grammatical context in both Mt 26:28 and Acts 2:38; "for the remission (forgiveness) of sins?"

  • @demcdoug part 1 Not as much to say about it as "gar". I believe that Eis denotes past action in Acts. Salvation is by grace through faith alone not works (Eph 2:8-9). If we don't interpret it in past tense, then it leaves the door open for the faith+works heresies.

  • @demcdoug part 2 Both Matthew and Acts are very consistent in their teaching. It is interesting that the Spirit "for/eis the remission of sins" in Acts rather than "peri" meaning simply "concerning" or "about". I believe this is significant and reaffirms Christ's work done for us on the cross. What are your thoughts?

  • @bondservant40 I believe Jesus shed His blood in order to remove sin; for the remission of sin (Mt 26:28). Part I - I believe God commands the convicted (by the Gospel) sinner to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin (Acts 2:37-38). We already looked at Gal 3:26-27 concerning the word "gar" and noted that Christians are sons through faith "for" (because) those who were baptized into Christ put on Christ.

  • @demcdoug amen!

  • @bondservant40 Part 2 - If we isolate Eph 2:8-9 as the overarching context for the NT, we fail to continue seeing the proper relationships between works in faith vs. working to merit one's salvation. Heb 11:1-3 assures us that faith is the evidence of unseen things; not the unseen things themselves. We can't see God, but we can see the evidence of God in His creative work. The text then goes on to give example after example of how faith is action, and action is evidence of the unseen conviction.

  • @demcdoug There are passages all over Scripture - faith alone saves. A righteous life/works is *fruit* of salvation.Rom 3:21-25, Rom 4:4-5. 11:6, 2 Cor 5:18-21, Gal 3:13-14, Eph 2:8-10, Gal 4:9-11, 5:1-5, Gal 3:24-25 for beginners. I don't however argue in comments. I think it takes away from Christ and does not bring Him glory. Ending this discussion agreeing to disagree. Blessings.

  • Amen! savor the Savior indeed! Thank you : )

  • @MrGunsolus Thanks for stopping by!

  • Very good point. I just love that you have such a sweet voice as you speak. Women are indeed a special blessing from God with special gifts. :-)

  • @CRoadwarrior God bless you brother!

  • Correction God can't garah but he can 'gar' in you. Ex: Bondservant garah in her house. Have a good one!

  • Hey Bondservant! I'm lovin it, not like McDonald's though. I too study languages. Here's one for you:

Gar in Hebrew means to live or lives (male). Garah means the same but for a female. Ex: God garah in you, God gar in me. Have a good one!

  • @vicambulatorious Have a good one too! Blessings

  • wonderfull bible study GOD bless you and thanks for sharing,,this is really helpfull

  • @Toppertop1958

God bless you Topper. Thanks for watching!

  • I agree, essentially literal translations are much better for doctrinal study... and of course, we should be learning as much Greek as we can (though some oddly disagree with that!)

FOR is a logical statement many times (ie- "therefore, etc")

Many times people just see it as some sort of conjunctive piece or continuing word, but as you have shown, it is much more!

    Lord bless

  • @callofchrist

studying the Word is such a joy isn't it

    Call? :) God bless you!

  • Amen!

It made em discover that I was indeed a sinner that needed the Savior, when I was 18. I had no interest in any "so-called gods" at that time and was an active Socialist already for several years at that age. It wasn't any preaching, it wasn't anything but the Gospel of Matthew that convicted me and showed me by the Holy Spirit that God was real and I was eating my prior words because of the Word! ;)

  • @callofchrist

Call-what a powerful testimony! Thanks for sharing it. Have you recorded a video about it? If you have I'd love to see it!

  • I should do my testimony some time. I am new at the vid-making thing ;)

    Lord bless you

  • @callofchrist

If you make one, pls send me the link! :)

  • The implications of Paul's statements in Romans 8 are radical. He says that the Spirit of life in Christ made him FREE from the law of sin and death. And Jesus tells us that freedom from sin means to stop sinning -- "He who commits sin is the servant of sin." That's why Paul writes in verse 4, "that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us." If we are truly "in Christ" (verse 1), we will actually DO righteousness. We cease from sin. "Whosoever abides in Him sins not" (1 John 3:6).

  • Never realized that.

    Thanks and God bless

  • Thankyou.

Gar it was a nice video!

  • God bless. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Wow thats amazing! Thanks so much for this. I love it when I learn something like this, that can help my studies.

    Agape, donny :o)

  • So glad you came by Donny. Praying for you and your ministry always. ((hugs)) to you and your loved ones!!

  • Great job on this, sis. God bless you and your family!

  • God bless you and your also! LY sis :)

  • lol awsome, ty =)

  • thanks for stopping by :)

  • To be mindful of the Law leads condemnation / guilt... which in turn keeps us away from Jesus who is our life (peace, joy, etc...).

While it sounds right to be mindful of our sins, to do so draws us away from the only one who can change us in the first place!

Sorry for rambling, but I get agitated at the teachers of the Law, because they cause God's children to stay away from Jesus and wrapped up in the blanket of guilt, condemnation and (spiritual) death.

    Peace to you Bondservant40

  • (clapping hands) My applause to you for pointing these things out, as way too many people skim through the scriptures without asking the who, why, where, when, etc... as these details make a huge difference in our understanding. :)

To be carnally minded is another real good topic for asking these detailed questions... as most preachers teach that it means to be sinful still, but actually means to be mindful of the Law instead of the Spirit.

  • ChristianNews: You're right, those details can make a huge difference in our understanding! Thanks so much for stopping by. :-)

  • Wow sis, that's really cool! Thanks for that...can you do that with any chapter?

  • Hi Jordan! Yes, you totally can do it on any chapter. When the sentence starts with "for" it will often answer the 5-W's and an "H" (who, what, why when, where, how) It helps give even more depth to our personal studies. :-)

Thanks so much for dropping by! GBU

  • Wow that's so cool!

  • Thanks sister!

  • Thanks for stopping by Nephtali. Always great to "see" you! :D

  • what an awesome message, great video!

  • GBU Striving!

  • Exactly Historysage! I also have not begun to sort out all the implications of Adam/Eve/ and the meanings. I believe it runs deep

We have Iysh/Ishshash (ie Ish and Ish-AH) woman coming from man, and as you said, Adam meaning earth which is what God formed man out of the dust of the earth (or clay, which is often red)..such a rich text! Thank you for bringing it up! :)

  • What a wonderful message!

  • Thanks so much for watching. GBU!

  • AMEN SISTER! The original language is soooo helpful in Bible study. I'm learning Hebrew right now, and Adam's name I was always told meant "Man". However the Hebrew word for man is Iysh. Adam means mankind, which makes a great deal more sense when you think of his condition and ours. Adam can also mean 'Earth' a simple symbolic parallel I think, and lastly it means 'Red', which may have alot of implications, but I've yet to sort them all out.

  • Hi! Since you are studying Hebrew, I'd like to ask this. I've heard that one of the meanings of the root word for "Eve" means "to talk". Is that correct?

  • Hi Harmony! "Gar" is actually a Greek word...:) but to answer your question about the Hebrew for Eve - Eve means "life giver" and it comes from a root which basically means "to live" , in my own understanding, the most symbolic we can stretch this would be that the root that Eve came from would mean "to show", but not 'to talk'.

    Hope this helps! GBU :)

  • oh! I think you misunderstood me. My question was to "thehistorysage" who said in his comment that he is studying Hebrew and talked about the meaning of "Adam".

    Thank-you though!

  • oh, lol, gotcha. ...I do that a lot on comments. Someday I'll get it right! lol, God bless you Harmony!

  • Hi Harmony, the root from which Eve is drawn, Chayah can mean that in certain contexts and inflections-but not with the name Eve specifically.
