akhristov, you have a "valve tap". One of your lifters is clogged. The first thing to do, is change your oil and filter, pour in a container of engine flush, and change your oil and filter again. If that doesn't work, you have to open the engine, and inspect each lifter. =Stefan=
@chengloki I was going to say the same thing as well. You shouldnt add engine additives to this vehicle i read that it is bad in the owners manual. Also this is a DOHC engine so how does it have lifters please Id like to know.
@suddenkilla24 Maybe not lifters, but hydraulic actuaters. Same principle. It's just easier to say lifters. The additive I recommended is an engine flush. You don't leave it in the engine. Let the engine come up to normal op temp, then drain. Replace with fresh, clean oil. The purpose of "lifters" is to reduce the mechanical shock on valve stems. =Stefan=
As an update, I'm going to retrofit a more modern ignition system into my car, as I have a feeling misfires have something to do with this problem (which has gotten somewhat worse). After I'm done, I'll see if the engine is still making that clogged lifter sound.
@akhristov Wait, before you go to that added expense. Try using hi-test fuel. I have an '05 Grand Prix GTP. When i use regular, she sounds like that. Inow run her on hi test. she sounds great!! The only other thing I can recommend is to use 40 or 50 weight oil. If thatdoesn't work, then do more expensive procedures. Also, get the manufacturer's manual. They now com in CD. =Stefan=
@chengloki I did a bit of experimenting with different weight oils, and I use 91 octane fuel all the time. The engine is running a bit rough, so I'm beginning to think that ignition problems are a part of it. There's a mod that some 1.8T owners do that's called the ICM delete, and in the long run, it is actually cheaper than keeping the old ignition system, AND it produces a much better spark.
I also have the VW factory manual from Bentley Publishers, so I'm all set. :)
No oil.!!!
