Silly question I must ask......when the Harpies (whatever their nicknames are) were devouring EVA-02, was Asuka being affected during it? I mean, she was grasping her stomach with her other hand; I know her eye was taken out due to her synchronization with her EVA, but what about the rest of her after they tore apart her EVA?
Eva Series or MP Evas anyway no since she already dead in that part so the sync ratio already died down unlike when she is alive and the sync ratio with her Eva-02 is high left her eye bleed and her right arm got tore apart when the Spear hits it, proof of this shown at the end only her eye and arm got bandages. ;)
@Zero4ph Oh. I'm sorry; I thought you said the sync to her EVA died down after she lost her eye. If she was at full sync while the MP EVA's were eating her guts, I imagine she'd be dead by then. If not, it's a testament to her will to live.

She was introduced as a character with a lot of self-esteem. She wanted to fight in order to prove herself that she is good at something and in order to earn other peoples admiration etc. In the end she fights because she has understood that life is worth living with its highs and lows which she beforehand couldn't (she even attempted suicide!). I would call it a kind of enlightenment she received in her final battle.and of course we all know she dies (and comes back) (1/2)

Probably the only disappointing thing about this part of the movie is that when Shinji's brain cracks he doesn't go apeshit he retreats into his old emo self- just when he finally seemed to come to grips with operating the eva.

Such a beautiful last battle from asuka. And that asshole shinji sitting there, doing nothing, and then loosing it when he sees the result of his cowardness. How lame is that. What's the point of playing it like he is super shocked when he is the one who sat down doing nothing while she had to fight 9 enemies at the same time, eventually leading to her death.
Really, i hate this guy. The only thing he is good for is jacking off in front of hospitalized people.

Not exactly. The EVAs are so powerful that they need to be plugged in to huge, very long power cords called umbilical cables in order to be able to run. They have a back-up battery in case of emergencies, but because the EVAs are so powerful the batteries will only last five minutes before having to be recharged. That timer you saw was for the portable battery. So if you lose the umbilical cable (which she did) and your battery runs out of power (which it did)...then you're screwed.
Geoxile, they design the biomechs to have the same effects on the pilot is because of nerves. The pilot's brainwaves sends to the mech so the mech can move. Its an open channel just like your body's nerves. If the pilot cant feel the feedback from the mech then the pilot cant move the mech. Lol the only way to have the pilot no effect from the mech is a paralegic pilot..

Poor Askua... I never liked her that much, but she should have went Berserk before then... as for Senji, he's simply stupid. I'm sure most of us nerds would gladly wage a robot war for anyone who gave us a mech suit. All he does it bitch and complain.
What point? Senji complains throughout the entire series. I know he had issues that made him relate more to the reader/viewer, but COME ON. His den mother died, his best friend is a monotone clone, and his red head love interest was being torn apart. Some people just have to grow a pair and quit crying. ESPECIALLY if the people trying to kill you are just down the hall.
He sees Unit 02. That thing at the end of the video is Unit 02 without its protective armor on...and on top of that, the body has been savagely ripped apart by the Mass-Produced Evas. Shinji screams because he realizes that with the Eva in that condition, there's no way Asuka could have survived. Actually, considering how high Asuka's sync-ratio was at the end and how horrifically messed up Unit 02 was, it's very scary to think about the condition Asuka's actual body might be in.
The sync doesn't affect the actual pilot body. He feels the pain for the EVA, tho. Feeling the pain of something being hit by a lance in the eye, then being eaten alive, then torn in pieces, is more then enough to kill you anyaway. And it can't be a nice death.
That can't be right. All of the pain that the EVA pilots feel correspond to the places that the EVA is being attacked. When they were strangled, the pilots felt like they were being choked. In episode 1 when the angel was crushing Unit 01's arm, Shinji's same arm felt that pain, not the rest of his body. And when Unit 02 got stabbed in the eye with the Lance of Longinus, that same eye burst open. I don't see how it doesn't affect the pilot's body.
Yep, that's what i am saying actually. I didn't mean that the pilot feels "generic pain". The pilot shares the exact feelings of the EVA, therefore he feels those things as if his actual body suffered them. That doesn't mean those physically affects him, tho. Shinji didn't broke an arm, he just felt as if it was broken. Asuka's eye didn't burst open at all. She covers it because she feels it that way.
Probably her actual body was unharmed, but the shock was more then enough to kill her.
There's something I missed the first time I saw the movie, and a lot of others missed it as well. I didn't notice until someone pointed it out to me. I think it's either a lighting or a coloring issue, but...well...
Her eye did, in fact, burst. Look at 4:18. You probably still can't see it, so look at 4:20 (but you still need to look really hard). Blood is gushing out of her eye socket.
Being immersed in the LGL (lilith's blood that all humans are comprised of) causes an actual Neuro-physical bond to the EVAs, This also causes a Womb like environment, explaining all of the "mother" instances. Anyways, if you notice in the series the perfect syncs for the pilots hover just below 100%
100% bonds are shown through the series as the EVAs "berserking". It allows EVAs to operate without a power supply and also causes any harm on EVAs to physically manifest on the pilots

That fight technically didn't really happen. Him and Asuka arguing in the kitchen was all part of Shinji's mind. That whole scene was basically a way of showing how Shinji views his own relationship with Asuka.
Having said that, he has that mindtrip after the events depicted in this video.

This movies is full of symbolism. Anyone can interpret things how they see fit unless its just that obvious. Things said in this movie can be taken so many ways. That's what makes this movie so powerful and awesome =D

This whole scene was by far the most daunting in NGE by a long shot. Out of all the charcter's, I probley wanted Asuka to die the least. And her death was fucking barbaric. I was just like "Oh man.." for the rest of the moive after that.
Yeah, easily the most epic death of all time, it puts the 300 Spartans shame. But she's only 13! A chick! And my favourite character of the series..I don't know, I would of taken the hit for her. But fucking Shinji was too busy with his dick in his hands!
If you look at the scene when Asuka's holding her stomach, you can see her suit getting darker around her hand and near her legs, meaning that her organs were LITERALLY coming out. Also, at the end, when she says "How disgusting," it is implied by Anno that Shinji was masturbating in front of her, or the fact that Asuka remembered what he had done in the hospital room.
I know that. That was the information that was read from Wikipedia and many other websites that have information on this movie. It's not that he was doing it in front of her, it's just the impression that the director wanted from the scene.
If you recall she told shinji *earlier* that she would rather Die then be left alone with shinji. But shinji is unable to kill her because he loves her. As well, look at her bandages. there are in the same place as Rei's. And rei is shinjis mother. >.> so it would only make sense that he is unable to kill her for that reason as well. (very confusing there are alot of little hints you have to catch)
wow.. the way unit 02 is "destroyed" is just.. beautiful..
don't get me wrong.. it's kind of sad to see unit 02 along with its pilot mutilated but seeing the scene where the eva is being impaled with those spears makes me want to shed a tear because of how sad and beautiful it looks..

Its an open channel just like your body's nerves. If the pilot cant feel the feedback from the mech then the pilot cant move the mech. Lol the only way to have the pilot no effect from the mech is a paralegic pilot..

What point? Senji complains throughout the entire series. I know he had issues that made him relate more to the reader/viewer, but COME ON. His den mother died, his best friend is a monotone clone, and his red head love interest was being torn apart. Some people just have to grow a pair and quit crying. ESPECIALLY if the people trying to kill you are just down the hall.

He sees Unit 02. That thing at the end of the video is Unit 02 without its protective armor on...and on top of that, the body has been savagely ripped apart by the Mass-Produced Evas. Shinji screams because he realizes that with the Eva in that condition, there's no way Asuka could have survived. Actually, considering how high Asuka's sync-ratio was at the end and how horrifically messed up Unit 02 was, it's very scary to think about the condition Asuka's actual body might be in.

The sync doesn't affect the actual pilot body. He feels the pain for the EVA, tho. Feeling the pain of something being hit by a lance in the eye, then being eaten alive, then torn in pieces, is more then enough to kill you anyaway. And it can't be a nice death.

That can't be right. All of the pain that the EVA pilots feel correspond to the places that the EVA is being attacked. When they were strangled, the pilots felt like they were being choked. In episode 1 when the angel was crushing Unit 01's arm, Shinji's same arm felt that pain, not the rest of his body. And when Unit 02 got stabbed in the eye with the Lance of Longinus, that same eye burst open. I don't see how it doesn't affect the pilot's body.

Yep, that's what i am saying actually. I didn't mean that the pilot feels "generic pain". The pilot shares the exact feelings of the EVA, therefore he feels those things as if his actual body suffered them. That doesn't mean those physically affects him, tho. Shinji didn't broke an arm, he just felt as if it was broken. Asuka's eye didn't burst open at all. She covers it because she feels it that way.
Probably her actual body was unharmed, but the shock was more then enough to kill her.

There's something I missed the first time I saw the movie, and a lot of others missed it as well. I didn't notice until someone pointed it out to me. I think it's either a lighting or a coloring issue, but...well...
Her eye did, in fact, burst. Look at 4:18. You probably still can't see it, so look at 4:20 (but you still need to look really hard). Blood is gushing out of her eye socket.

Being immersed in the LGL (lilith's blood that all humans are comprised of) causes an actual Neuro-physical bond to the EVAs, This also causes a Womb like environment, explaining all of the "mother" instances. Anyways, if you notice in the series the perfect syncs for the pilots hover just below 100%
100% bonds are shown through the series as the EVAs "berserking". It allows EVAs to operate without a power supply and also causes any harm on EVAs to physically manifest on the pilots

That fight technically didn't really happen. Him and Asuka arguing in the kitchen was all part of Shinji's mind. That whole scene was basically a way of showing how Shinji views his own relationship with Asuka.
Having said that, he has that mindtrip after the events depicted in this video.

This whole scene was by far the most daunting in NGE by a long shot. Out of all the charcter's, I probley wanted Asuka to die the least. And her death was fucking barbaric. I was just like "Oh man.." for the rest of the moive after that.

If you look at the scene when Asuka's holding her stomach, you can see her suit getting darker around her hand and near her legs, meaning that her organs were LITERALLY coming out. Also, at the end, when she says "How disgusting," it is implied by Anno that Shinji was masturbating in front of her, or the fact that Asuka remembered what he had done in the hospital room.

If you recall she told shinji *earlier* that she would rather Die then be left alone with shinji. But shinji is unable to kill her because he loves her. As well, look at her bandages. there are in the same place as Rei's. And rei is shinjis mother. >.> so it would only make sense that he is unable to kill her for that reason as well. (very confusing there are alot of little hints you have to catch)

don't get me wrong.. it's kind of sad to see unit 02 along with its pilot mutilated but seeing the scene where the eva is being impaled with those spears makes me want to shed a tear because of how sad and beautiful it looks..
