Maybe this is were Craig got his "tutsi fruitsi" cover up when he swears!!! hahahah. I've seen all the Marx Bros movies, but its been quite a long time since I've seen these movies and I forgot all about the tutsi fruisi!!!! Awesome!
apparently, to get the timing of the dialogue they used to perform in front of a live audience, to see how long the laughs were, so that the jokes weren't rushed into.
@thomaschavers yeh, it was also one of the reasons harpo never speaks, apparently they got a review for a show which said that everything was brilliant within the performance until harpo spoke, it was something along the lines of that anyway.
Not too many modern comedies have the creativity that was in the Marx Brothers comedies and the screwball comedies that were made in the 1930s and 40s.
I gave my granddaughter Tootsie Fruitsi as her nikname when she was a baby.To this day,her mom, dad and granny, and me call her tootsie ! {She is 12 now !} Love these guys ! Never gets old !
"Well boss, I feel pretty sorry for you walking around without a Breeder's Guide. Why, you're just throwing your money away buying those other books without a Breeder's Guide!" XD
This might be the best interplay between Groucho and Chico out of all their films. "Hey, ice cream... Tutsi fruitsi!" BTW, where is your code book? ;)
My faves are this one and Duck Soup. Groucho`s treatment of the hapless, clueless Margaret Dumont is an absolute bigtime Hoot.
From what I have read she was really oblivious to what was going on.With Groucho`s machine gun delivery it must have been doubly hard for the "Grande Dame" to make sense of the shenanigans. Comedy written over 80 yrs ago has to show its age but the boys are forever funny!
The play-on-words pun type material i.e the word . viaduct comes into the conversation to which one of the brothers says something regarding Why a duck? This type of humor is pretty common in their flix.
" A Day at the Races" and "Duck Soup" are my faves and not harmed by these punny stabs at humor, but they are rife throughout these movies.
A Day at the Races and Duck Soup are my faves and I think showing some wear around the ages doesnt hurt at all.

Groucho never gave Chico much credit for his comic acting skills, but I think he's brilliant in this scene. I've always loved Chico!
(By the way, it's pronounced "Chicko" not "Cheeko").
