you know, the father in this film probably could have avoided death by simply using the alcohol the community was distilling (probably moonshine, which has an exceptionally high alcohol content) to cleanse his wound. especially having a medical background, he should have factored that in early on.
@kaldicuct yeah, but going to get goods, earlier on he could have inquired about it. it may have saved his life. even if it was a random fifth of hard liquor.
Excellent documentary and thank you for posting it. I believe short of extinction we will always find a way back. Humans are tenacious and sometimes great struggle brings out the best in people.

@smileyofhumpalot this is true. Hell if you really want to get into it, he coudlve gotten some of that shine and bottled it for medicinal purposes.
