  • now time to put it up against the tesla...lets see who will get more cars sold then..

  • an electric motor can put out alot of power but usually it isnt recommended... a burnt electric motor is a bitch to replace because they cost a fortune... this video looks believable but the challenger does look like it lets off eary in both races... but this still proves that electric cars can get up well from a stand still

  • thought it was a lotus at first

  • Makes sense, electric delivers more torque from the start

  • fail on the shifting

  • dodge charger is a heavy piece of shit. electric driven vehicles are more powerful and more efficient.

  • dodge sucks

  • Anyone with basic understanding of electrics understands the advantage of linear electric motors over sequential geared combustion engines. Sadly Petrolheads just can't accept the facts.

  • @vortexZXR someone with some sense. thanks for posting this comment. it gives me hope that some people in the world are not complete morons.

  • notice the driver of the challenger cant steer? everytime he moves the wheel he is losing time of the clock....idiot

  • The charger lets of the gas, this is just a secret ad for the EV

  • bullshit

  • no shit it won its yellow

  • Dodge EV my arse. Why dont they simply call it an electric Lotus Elise and save themselves the embarrassement.

  • Where the hell was that Challenger going? He just continued to drift to the right (from our pov). Straight line please? and don't miss the shifts, or let off the gas.

  • Wow... You can hear the missed shifts from the Challenger... and the let off the gas at the end of the races. That also didn't even look like a full 1/4 mile.

  • Loool that 6.1 hemi could reverse that piece of ElectricBattery

  • Lol @ the people who don't buy this. Electric cars are easily faster and don't have to shift. They have wicked fast acceleration too.

  • @GarrettBMXes yeah because electric motors don't need rev time to get to theier peak power in their rpm band like any gas motor does

  • Funny that none of the performance found in that vehicle can be seen in the Volt...

  • @xanderstrike Probably because the Volt isn't designed to be a performance car.

  • Electric vehicles will always be a lot faster than any foccil burner since you have A LOT of instant TORQUE, 4 separate motors one for each wheel and range depends on how many and how powerfull batteries you put in your car. As years go by more powerfull ones will be made available.

  • you can clearly see the challenger driver letting out of the gas as he started to catch the EV before they ever even reached the 8th mile mark, plus the chally was spinning like hell on that slick pavement... SCAM!!!

  • @mrhighnote Your just sad that electrics are better, it isnt just this video, it is many many many many many videos of all sorts of cars, sport and non sport!

  • @deedundone I agree that electrics are and can be faster than gas burners, however that was not my point. The point is the Chally was backing out and spinning.

  • eletric motors will always be faster than internal combustion motors...

  • I will NEVER buy an electric and I don't care about emissions.I just can't stand the fact that you can't hear the engine or change gears. Also the top speed of electric cars is shit and they run out of battery fast.

  • @SRSvictor, I know of a great place to get cheap concrete blocks for all the cars on your lawn. Also you'd find even more cars if you would just mow your lawn.

  • che figata di auto

  • @Ls3Guy indeed, japan doesn't rule shit, that for americans, japan rules everything else though...

  • That shitty music is so in your face

  • id still take the challenger over that ev junk

  • screw american cars japan rules

  • @ntenhmarkora japan dont rule shit

  • shifting gears is tired ol' I.C.E.stuff.electric motors are the most efficient way to apply torque to a load.electric motors not only produce instant torque @0 RPM but can produce more of it for longer throughout it's RPM range, depending on what kind of power source it's connected to.Tesla coil ideal;batteries:getting better .So what you do is mount up a couple of planer motors on a dragster frame and get 1500 feet of extension cord.........

  • Zapraszam na najlepszy serwer FFA!!!

    Bananowo.eu [FFA][FastDL] 188.116.33.131:27142

  • Wow! She's cute! And fast! EV's routinely outrun their petro-clunker counterparts. This is just the beginning, folks! Stay tuned...

  • what the fuck man

i drive a chink box and i could own u muthfuckers

    tokyo drift 4 life

  • the EV can go from 0-60 MPH in um.. lets see here.... 4.7 sec. so stop fucking compplaining its a sick car your all dumb shits

  • @Bulet4MyValentine52 it has to do btter than 4.7 because the challenger does 0-60 in 4.6 and the 1/4 in 12.8-12.9 with a pro. so the Ev definately runs 13flat average and 0-60 in 4.6

  • my dick is longer than that "1/4 mile"

  • LOL THAT'S NOT A QUARTER MILE RETARDS!!!! THAT'S NOT EVEN AN 1/8TH MILE!!

  • FAKE.......

  • BULLSHIT

  • That EV would be alright if it didn't look like a stratus that got buttfucked by a F430.

  • promotional scam

  • @mrdjcobra704 What.. u think it was rigged? the Ev weights about a third of what the challenger weighs, has 290hp/400torque. and no power loss throughout its rpm range. Electric motors are just better...

  • @mrdjcobra704 If only it were though, see the thing is, electrics truly can power through faster than a gas engine car.................

  • @mrdjcobra704 electrics are far more powerful and more efficient. but maybe you did not know that.

  • even if he would shift the sec gear to 3 on time , it could get the EV , u can check them on the last of the gear 2 , EV is enough frontier

  • This is a joke right?

  • lol obviously rigged.

  • someone needs to learn how to use a clutch....

  • @ME109G3ZAKU Electrics are faster, get used to it, lol.......

  • @ME109G3ZAKU challenger srt8 is a automatic dumbass

  • @jbball3549 Hmm..... Pretty sure your an idiot actually

  • @crysisdood urhh...okay

  • Face it electric motors have superior off the line torque than most muscle and high performance cars. An electric motor the size of a watermelon packs more torque than a huge Hemi. As electric motors and battery technologies advance EV's will get even faster and offer longer ranges.

  • I still prefer gas cars.

  • well the EV looks lighter and is obviously more aerodynamic... in other words physics is on its side, but id do anything for a mother fucking challenger

  • @veilsideFD3S looks can be decieving. those battery packs are quite heavy

  • is that a quarter mile? looks like 40 metres to me

  • my lambo would eat both of those, and shit them out the tailpipe

  • @teamramrod2009 how much did you lambo cost? ya exactly. my 2008 zr1 would eat your lambo, shit it out ,eat the shit and the shit it out again. for half the price!

  • @optimoe54 and my dads ultima gtr can eat a veyron so you know what it can do to your plastic supercar wannabe

  • @TVRnGTR hhahaha your a pthetic person. all you got to do is type in zr1 vs gtr and watch it get its aSS WHOOPED

  • @optimoe54 a zr1 can whoop an ultima gtr? WTF are you smoking

  • @TVRnGTR obviously not crack like you. again ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WATCH ZR1 VS NISSAN GTR.ENOUGH SAID RETARD

  • @optimoe54 dude youre a fuckin retard an ultima GTR is not a nissan GT-R learn about cars

  • @optimoe54 Actually you have it the wrong way around. The C6 ZR-1 aces the GT-R35.

  • @TVRnGTRyou said "and my dads ultima gtr can eat a veyron" only if it transforms into godzilla

  • dodge EV looks like a....LOTUS ELISE/EXIGE

  • @jackerd12 its a lotus europa americans tried to claim it was thier idea by putting a different front on it

  • the only reason ev won was becasue its light as shit

  • wow u can tell by the movement of the challenger that some next level failure driver was driving it obviously its gonna lose

  • the only reason the challenger lost is cause the little shit is fuckin small and you have to have a good driver in the challenger not a senior

  • fake ?

  • fuck gasoline and fuck gm its all about dodge

  • @bonds911 Fuck gasoline? Ur not much of a car guy then. And fuck GM? Gm and Mopar both kick ass.

  • who did they have in the challenger, a senior?

  • Well with electric power you get full power instantly, instead of after 3rd gear. Im an all electric guy...will own an electric car once they r affordable.

  • the ev doesnt have to shift gears. plus it has instant torque with the electric motor

  • In the process the EV used 10 times the amount of actual energy. Total electric cars are a total farce. A battery is just a box, you have to make the electricity to put in it. This car goes 40 miles using 22Kw or 5 Kwh. Wow what an energy saver!!!! If you buy into this bullshit as "green" your an idiot.

  • @2wheelpiracy A gas motor takes the same amount of gas to be constructed than all gas it will burn in its own life. Even if a gas motor ''could'' (because it won't) use 0 lites/100km, the problem's still there. Internal combustion engine is a total farce Wow, what a mess of energy! Knewing that 1L of gas contains 8,7 kwh of raw energy, this dodge challenger use more than 100 kwh for 40 miles. Wow, what an energy saver! You are completely ignorant. And that's a fact. I am waiting your insults ha

  • the guy driving the challenger sucks i think the challenger would of won put it against a jeep srt8 rape his ass

  • @AGPELASTE a jeep?

  • @airsoftloverusp yes a fucking jeep grand Cherokee srt8 you fucking tit i have a jeep srt8 and raped the challenger because jeep srt8´s have AWD YOU ignorant peace of shit the EV doesn't win its just advertisement douche bag

  • @AGPELASTE fag i was asking a question shithead i hope you get raped go die in a hole.

  • @AGPELASTE Gay border jumping mexican from the looks off it your srt jeep cant out run shit.

  • Leave it to liberal ass LA to stage a race like this in hopes to sway consumers to electric junk.

  • I like the guy at the end

  • ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I am a Mopar loyalist but I think this is Chrysler Group, LLC's lame attempt to build hype/find a reason to get the EV into production.

Why would I want a Lotus clone when I can have a true MOPAR classic?

  • weak even the a guy at the end of the video said he let off

  • that aint no quarter mile! dumbasses

  • The tesla roadster uses a lotus frame/body and would kick the living crap out of that Challenger. EV's rule, ICE's leak fluids.

  • "i thought i was here to write an article about these cars, not drive the challenger"

"i haven't driven a standard in over 5 years, my accord is an automatic"

we can tell mr journalist, we can tell.

  • this is no dodge this is a lotus europa s rip off

  • Not really Racing drivers :O

  • No wonder the Challenger lost; I'm not even very good with stick and I can do better than that lol

  • EV= Lotus Fail?

  • Same company , who gives a fuck!

  • that EV looks like a Z!

  • EV still looks promising considering its eco friendly engine (if you even call it an engine)

  • EV is just a lotus!!!

  • It would probably be a better race if the dude in the real car could shift the fucking thing without a 3 second delay! Just cause you can build or buy something doesn't mean you can drive it. these are both sweet-ass cars though, electric or not.

  • Comment removed

  • ok. now run them both for 6 hours.

  • Proving what? How many times a year does the average person drive that long? With the money you save on gas you can rent a car the 1-2 times you need that range.

  • Both cars are awesome! Kudos to Dodge for designing an electric car I would actually consider buying.

  • @dude486 thats a

    lotus europa s

  • @racingchamp101 Well I'll be damned!!! It is! And Its a turbo 4 cylinder! Screw this car I want somthing that sounds as good as it looks; and this don't sound at all!

  • @dude486 lotus makes fast lil cars

  • @dude486 It is exactly that Neolithic mindset that is slowing the advancement of America. Lets see (or hear) what your Porsche sounds like when gas costs over $10 a gal., or is not available at all. When that time comes I will be glad to challenge you to a race with my EV and youre Porsche with no gas in it. Gee who do you thank will win the race and turn heads then?

  • @GSpotter63 Haven't we already had a similar discussion dick head? Why do you keep attacking me?! IT WAS A JOKE!!! I'm all for electric cars. The more there are of them on the road, the more gas there is left for car HOBBYISTS like myself.

  • @dude486 I keep forgetting that even after 30 million years of evolution there are still some who must mark their territory by peeing on a wall, or howling at the moon to make their presents known, like some kind of barbaric Neolithic brainless animal.

  • @GSpotter63 Why is it you feel you have to show me how much more "advanced" you are then I am? Do you think your better than me? You think you can use words like Neolithic and drive an electric car to prove how much smarter and more advanced you are than I am? It just makes you look like a dick!

As I told you that the last time we butted heads, Its a preference! I have very little against electric cars. I just PREFER conventional cars. How hard is that to understand?!

  • @GSpotter63 Acting elitist then mispelling presence. All the markings of a true douche nozzle...

  • That's not a 1/4 mile...that's a 1/8 mile. An EV would easily beat most cars in a 1/8 mile. High torque means they launch like a rocket. If this were really a 1/4 mile, the Challenger would catch up and probably pass by the finish.

  • I'm a HUGE EV fan yet I feel this video is bogus. The challenger sounded like it was taking a sunday drive. No Burnt rubber or High Revs? And did he miss 3rd? Not to dis my much loved EV's but ....P ...P...phony

  • have a look at the dodge EV and then put in lotus europa 2008

  • A. CHALLENGER driver can't hit 3rd gear....period. Probably means he doesn't know how to launch either.

    B. Electric cars have maximum torque. Unreal jump off the line. That's a huge advantage for the electric.

    C. Who cares? Talk about Apples and Oranges.

  • we need to take that driver out of the challenger... BEAT HIS ASS.... AND RUN HIM OVER!

  • The Challenger wasn't much of one.

    KNEEEE SLAPPPERRRR!!!

haaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I CANT BREATHEEEEEEEEEEE! GET IT?! Challenger?!?!?!?!

  • yeah your gay we get it

  • Put a real driver in the Challenger-shifts like an old lady and missed 3rd gear-WEAK!

  • What automatic foreign vehicle do you drive????

  • lol. Now try giving the Challenger a professional driver and pitting it against the White Zombie.

  • blah blah blah.. It doesn't need a real driver that big heavy school bus wheel lookin shit needs to be rebuilt mabe by german or japanese engineers.. not americans all that horse power for nothing just to do burnouts in the back of a walmart parking lot :D

  • @StickShiftRacer jelous u got shitkicked by a battery?

  • @StickShiftRacer An old lady driving the electric car could still beat the challenger driven by the the best driver.

  • Regular car cant beat EV car

the torque is almost at an instant rate

in a "wheel motor" engine you get approximately 95% efficiency

in a regular engine you get approximately 30% efficiency

  • ev looks like a little toy

  • Its not only just the overall weight of the challenger, but the power of the car. The older challengers had power plants that put out brut force performance. Your not finding that performnce in this car.

The design team should have designed a new 426 or 440 to set the car apart from everything else on the road. The next thing they should do is remove some of the onboard computers in the car. With computer on the car is a beast to shift.

  • @badman37 I dont know about the stick, but I have a R/T 5.7ltr that can get in the low 5's 0-60 with estimated 370ish HP and 375lb torq at the wheels. Thats from a small block. I am an old skooler but I would prefer smaller engine that performs like a big block and the 5.7/6.1 delivers big block power.

  • The new Challenger is a great car accept for one thing that I think Dodge did wrong. They made it too big. The original Challenger looked pretty much the same but was way smaller. If the new Challenger was closer to the size of the one from the 1970s it would handle and accelerate much better.

  • @minivan442

I agree completely, I've been saying this for a while now about America's modern sports cars. In the 60's and 70's, they were actual sports cars, with almost no weight to them, a rugged body and a big engine. Today they weigh just as much as my goddamn 1990 dodge ram pickup...

  • @Arleer157 yeah but this cars are much more safer and powerful than the old ones...

if you want a dead trap just take all the safeties out and you got a almost a 400hp+ car weighting almost the same as the old ones....

plus this is fake, my neighbor has a challenger SRT and it is so much faster than that, maybe it was the video that made it look slow, but it is a damn fast car, much better than the 70s challenger.

  • @omarf13gmail 1970 hemi challenger was under 3500 lbs and the 426 hemi produced 460+ hp so if you put the same size tires on a 1970 challenger as the 2010 challenger the the '70 would win.

  • @jingq2 Its not about the power, it's about how it put's the power down.

  • I want to see the EV and an SRT10 Challenger become reality

  • why would he let off? the ev is really nice but i think challenger could beat it

  • Yeaah the EV is really nice.. But it probably won't have as much horsepower as a real muscle.. And like that Nilson guy said you could hear the Challenger lay off the throttle because it lost its rumble

  • You can hear the guy in the challenger lay off the throttle its loses that nice rumble

  • Horrible driving from the Challenger, but it sounds awesome

  • i have to so agry with you....seems to me that the guy in the srt8 doesnt know how to shift properly..let alone powersfit

  • they are both fast cars. the challenger is way heavier so it doesnt look all that fast in comparison. as far as the challenger letting off....short track, and he likely knew he was losing so just let off

  • Looks to be fixed, but the Challenger still isn't that fast of a car, It doesn't have to be, it's a cruising car.

  • @johndeerejoe1 Where do you get this from? The Challenger is fast by all means. People are distored perceptions of what fast is a Challenger is faster than 97% of the cars on the road, yeah there are faster, but then there are faster cars than those, so they must be slow too. I guess the only fast car there is in the world is the Bugatti, all the rest might as well be 1970 Datsun B210's!

  • @Albee213 I can just think of a lot faster cars in the same class, the video does look fixed, to the Challengers loss. I mean it as a complement when i say it doesn't have to be a super car to be a Challenger, If i had to pick between a number of "Super Cars", or a Camaro, or a Mustang to go on a long road trip in id pick the Challenger. It's big it's comfortable and it has a world class V8 to boot. That's what the Challenger was made to be, But when it comes to a track car, their are better.

  • Why did the Challenger let off both times? Probably too much power for that little parking lot :)

  • that car looks like a combinatie of a lotus and an audi R8

  • well to start u incorrectly named a car manufacturer and a car model

and second its based off of the lotus Europa

and incase u scroll down id like to let u know im kidding i only know that cuz i know about how lotus loaned there cars out for the tesla and stuff

  • the charger fucking let off on both races......

  • The Challenger routinely hit 4.9 sec 0-60. The EV? Dodge claims low 5's.

The Challenger has posted 13.1 sec.s in the 1/4 by 3rd party pros. Dodge advertised low 13's for the EV, yet nobody's tested it.

And of course 170mph topspeed for the chally/120mph for the EV.

In neither race did the Chally get off to a good launch, and in both races the Challenger 'took a dive' about 100 yds from the finish line.

Conclusion: only in a fixed match could that Everyready Bunny take a Challenger.

  • its doesnt seem to be a full quarter mile

and if u think of this and an electric cars instant full torque it might happen

tell me if u think that could be it

  • @razumfrackle so we test drove a challenger and got it to go 182 yes it was the 6.1

  • @razumfrackle

Then disregard this video. Instead, watch any one of hundreds of other videos on Youtube of EVs beating the pants off of muscle cars on the drag strip. They can't all be propaganda.

  • @razumfrackle put that challenger up against a tesla and see what happens :)

  • @pcracer2

pcracer2: "put that challenger up against a tesla and see what happens :)"

    Bring it on electro-boy. The $109k Tesla Model S boasts a 13.2 sec qtr - vs. the $42k 6.1L 425 hp SRT8 13.1 sec qtr - so you've already lost.

To make things interesting, let's take the 2011 6.4L 480 hp SRT8 add $10k in supercharger (800 hp) and drag suspension/tires. Still half the price of your Hasbro electric, and we're looking at 10 sec qtrs.

    p.s. I'm only being a jerk because I own an R/T ;)

  • @razumfrackle its not all about a straight line buddy. anyone can make a car go fast in a straight line. dont get me wrong i love american muscle, but straight lines get boring after a while.

  • @pcracer2 actually "buddy", considering the title of this blog is "Dodge EV beats Dodge Challenger in 1/4 mile race" so it is all about "a straight line".

But, rather than concede that argument you suggest that the Chally SRT8 is still somehow inferior to this New Age of electronic transportation. Handling, comfort, endurance, safety, price? No, both the Tesla and the Evo are inferior to the Challenger in each of these categories.

  • @razumfrackle nice dude, I own a 09 challenger Rt and a 06 charger Rt, I would rather own these 2 cars than a dozen mustangs, I would be willing to trade the charger for an ss camaro though lol.

  • @Masch3rano

    What a dumb comment.

  • @teamhavocaz Sure thing bro.

  • @Masch3rano

Do you want to fight? I will fight you!!!! Watch out for the fist coming through the screen! lol jk :p

  • @teamhavocaz its cool bro. you own a mustang right? I am down with all muscle cars either way. just that Challenger is my fav 1.

  • dude that SRT* challenger is sandbagin look at .27 it dosent even looks like it hits 2rd gear

  • Don't get me wrong, I love the Challenger but this is the right idea here, electrics that are actually as fast as gas cars and don't look like crap. It's not perfect but it's a step in the right direction, I'd rather have no engine tone than have to worry about $4 per gallon bullshit.

  • @Run4TheShadows Thats funny, if we all go electric how do you think most get the power? Coal and oil, so pay at the pump, or pay your local electric company! Electricity will shoot through the roof if we all use electricity, there is no such ting as free power unless we go solar!

  • of curse..

    it's 1/8 mile, not 1/4

    challenger rules

  • now put a pro driver in a manual Challenger. its over for the electrical crap

  • srsly right? the challenger was wobbeling

  • LOL, the SRT gave up on the second race.

  • looks like 1/8 mile not 1/4

  • challenger is big heavy shit with big engine and plastic interior. its good only when you want a brand new V8 car and cant afford anything better.

  • they cost 45 grand, you buy a mustang if you cant afford anything nice...
