This has been a big problem for World Of Warcraft fan sites. Many times these ads would install a keylogger into your computer so they can steal your account information. However, in many cases you can prevent this problem by running "No-script" in Firefox. it Prevents any of these ads from running their malicious actions. Still, its a tough system to stick with.
