this movie was about the heroin epidemic in Harlem NYC. How the white cops didn't car, and the black cops who faught against it... Just like cotton comes to harlem, another awareness movie.
This is the movie where the guy's (eh hem) grew when he wanted to. Serious. I was like 7 when it came out but I remember seeing it one day in my uncle's collection.
I have both movie in the series on VHS. Found them at a yard sale for $3.00 each. I'm going to convert them to DVD as some as I get the proper software.
This movie I remember very well. My dad and I saw it at Lee Barracks in Mainz, Germany back in the winter of 1973. Never laughed so hard in all my life. Raymond St Jaques and Godfrey Cambridge were positively brilliant on the screen. And Peter DeAnda, now he was one fine Brother. Remembered him from the ABC soap One Life to Live back in the day. The character he played was Dr. Price Trainor. :)
I don't know, both are pretty good. I'm really surprised that the Raymond St. Jacques/Godfrey Cambridge movies never became classics. They are great together. I wish they were easy to find on DVD. I don't believe "Charleston Blue" was ever reissued on DVD.
i remember this movie when i was a youth my pops took us to the drive in to see this

This movie was released in the later part of 1972. Not 1970. Cotton Comes To Harlem was released in the summer of 1970.
