i find this quite hard to do ... but i've only been practising 5 minutes. i dont get the going opposite part. he looks like he is going the same direction as the ball. correct me if im rong plz
It appears that "going opposite" is a more committed looking crossover.
Normal crossover (left to right): shift in hips to keep defender off-balanced, cross the ball while pushing off the left leg to drive right. Some people cross earlier by lifting the right foot and starting the change of the direction earlier, meaning that change of direction of the hips and ball occur at the same time.
His crossover: pause at 0:24 and 0:25, knees and chest are aimed left and the ball is aimed right. He drags that right foot to really sell that he's going left and lifts his dragging right foot only after the ball has left his hand. It's more exaggerated and slightly tougher on his knees. But if selling the move a little more causes the defender to slightly commit more to his right, you would have been long gone by then.
the key is to utilize a quick first step early in the game...after u beat ur defender just by blowing past him with a quick first step...later on, he or they will try to beat u to the spot and then it's almost like you gotta use the crossover at that point...that's when u show off the cross...that's why ppl always fall for it by iverson...how many times do u see iverson just blow by ppl with his quickness...then he starts using the cross...
one thing i have to ask. okay i'm on the top of the three point line. and i have the ball in my left hand and want to cross it to my right. which leg should i put my weight on?

i think. .you can add moves like chang of pace. .then go for the cross leg and behind the back. .marbury style. .complicated. .but real ankle breaker. .ü
you cant just always crossover ..you also gotta see how your defender react. if he goes for it

Ur body moves with the ball so it's a hesitation fake one way then u dribble the ball the opposite way

We do this everyday in our training.
It's easy, just do a hesitation then a quick crossover. :D

The lower you get (like a sprinter), the faster you can dash off.
