Abhilasha Chellum is a wonderful singer. She deserves so much more credit for her singing and her career. I have always wished her well, and I truly hope that she gets the recognition that she so much deserves.
when she comes 2 d first antara its obvious she doesn't have it in her to pull off a lata mangeshkar ghazal composed by madan mohan... if yu hear d original song its got a lot more panache
@nazirmo - give an example of where her diction is lacking? BTW, Lata herself said that early in her career she was told her Urdu diction was lacking and took a whole year of Urdu classes. But ... urdu zubaan par zor mat dijiye ... dil ki zubaan suniye aur bas "svargiya anand" ka ras lijiye.
Abhilasha's rendition is outstanding. And she did not have Madan Mohan to practice with.
As someone pointed out - nice try but no match for lataji's voice - I feel that these new singers need to fine tune their urdu diction - which is what lataji and even asha mastered. When lataji sang she sang with depth and emotions and although lataji's
mother tongue is Marathi when lataji sang there was no trace of accent - even when lataji's sister Usha sang Hindi songs you can note her urdu diction was lacking.
@nazirmo I agree with you but please try to understand urdu is not her mother language also she is 18 years old girl and cannot compare with Lata ji and Asha ji.
For all the praises Amarathi singers were getting for "pronunciations". First Mohhobbat was not pronounced properly and hence the Note didn't come clean either.
Overall superb. As talat aziz pointed out "sa" in "hasaratonki" could've been stressed less. But that is minor .. and can be easily improved. What was importantly missing was the sadness in the original song - although it was sung very well.
Almost perfect rendition! Kya baat hai!! Talat ji is right... she stressed on "Hasraton" a bit too much. Sounded more like "Hassaraton". Nonetheless, she's one of my favourites.

Sounded like Ashabai sang Latabai's song. Very average rendition of a beautiful ghazal.

No match for Lata but still good attempt.

Lata Didi is a living legend. Someone like her is born once in a 1000 years. As you said she did perform well.

Performance was bit superficial.
