  • Incredibly beautiful song...even with all the noise from the audience in the beginning....I had the great pleasure of seeing them live this past October here in socal in a small venue & they playe Melinda there as well...this song is a work of art, simply put.. Opeth are collectively the most talented yet greatly humble group of artist I've ever met...I don't think I'll ever find a band I admire more than these great group of guys...thank you & keep on rocking...progressively.

    - a fan forever!

  • Great!

  • anyone else hear the crackhead @ 0:27 randomly start screaming? LOL

  • 240p, the cutting edge of the video technology

  • This song is sex to me

  • i seriously want to find those 2 people that disliked this video and rip their fucking ears off

  • @urbman29

Dude, they dont have ears, or they would have liked it xD

  • how about all you new fans go away. we dont care about your opions of other bands to opeth. YOU CANT COMPARE YOU GOOMBA ASSES.

  • one more masterpiece ..

  • can someone tell me what it was the audience said to make Mike say "Shut... the fuck... up." at 9:16?

  • @Joeygame1018 I think the adudience wouldn't shut the fuck up he wanted to say what he had to say they were being noisy. I don't blame him.

  • fuckin' true

  • The Progressive genre is so amazing.

It goes from Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes , and King Crimson, to DT, Opeth, Nevermore and even Meshuggah.

I love it so fucking much...

  • to a library. Oh and ya, the sub classes of metal you speak of are usually ethnic based. For example, Amon Amarth is sweedish Death metal. However when it comes down to it, they are death metal. You can't find a sweedish death metal section in a book, it doesn't exist. That's just something fans started to make up. Just to give you a heads up.

  • @nomadicvampire es, the sub genreing of sub genres did start by fans, but they've become popular enough to become actual sub sub genres (although i would agree with u if this were about two years ago). and just because u cant find the name of a genre by typing it in, doesnt mean it's not real. an example would be iTunes (a shitty one, but good enough). i typed in Opeth and they said it was Rock... first off, wtf!? second, just because it says "Rock," does that make Opeth a rock band?

  • I agree that much heavy metal pulls a lot of influence from other bands, but they are always classified as one particular subgenre. You can't just say a band is death, black metal, or speed death metal, or something crazy like that. A band is either speed, death, or black metal. Most likely those Ulver albums you speak of are death metal, not black metal. Sorry dude, but you are uneducated. And sometimes wikipedia actually has usefull information. But if you don't think, i suggest going

  • You are such an idiot. In order for an album/band to be considered black metal it must have satanic lyrics. The album must be of satanic worshiping nature. I realize that i do not know anything about Ulver, but I do know a hell-of-a-lot about heavy metal. There is no way that any of Ulver's albums is black metal unless they are satanic, that's just the way it is. And you can not sub genre a sub genre. That is just rediculous.

  • @nomadicvampire Look at how wrong you are. What would you call all the non-Satanic black metal releases then? What genre would they fall under if not black metal? Go Youtube any Ulver track off of Nattens Madrigal and tell me that isn't about as gritty and 'grim' black metal can get. 'Elite' BM bands like Immortal and Burzum also have 'un-Satanic' releases. And yes, you can subgenre a subgenre, silly as that is--take symphonic black metal, funeral doom, technical death, so on and so forth.

  • Ok Ulver is not metal at all. They are techno. I have no clue as to what made you think they are even close to metal. Maybe they worship satan, i don't know, but that doesn't mean they are black metal, or even metal. The least you could do is look something up on wikipedia even though that may not be accurate. At least you will have some clue then.

  • @nomadicvampire Ulver makes a lot of music. Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal are black metal albums. Note I refernced Bergtatt. Read closer son...If you don't like it that's cool. No they are not satanists. Black metal has it's own sub-classes like any other metal genre. Mainstream black metal does push the painted face synthy thing and that's why it sucks...I realise you're just trolling, it's okay have fun whatever. But referencing wikipedia? please.....

  • Most black metal invloves gothic, synthetic undertones. In any case, that band you speak of, I guarantee they worship satan, if they are at all considered black metal. Opeth does not worship satan. so they are not black metal. You cannot classify something as black metal without the element of satan worshiping lyrics. It defeats the entire purpose of the subclassification in the first place.

  • I just hate it when people randomly categorize a band without knowing what they are really classified as. It's so easy to hear "black metal" and then go around slapping the label onto a piece of music just because that band happens to be loud. It's like saying Iron Maiden is "pop" music just because Bruce Dickinson uses clean vocals. It's all heavy metal folks, just stick to the basics and stop trying to subclassify music you don't know.

  • Paul, Opeth is far from black Metal. They are progressive death metal. Just because a band growls does not mean they are black metal. Black Metal bands worship satan and use a ton of gothic overlaying synth and double bass drumming. Death metal is mostly fast guitar, growling vocals, and themes of death and brutality. Opeth all the way. What makes them progressive is that they intercede soft undertones and sudden scale changes.

  • Ok, tool sucks. How dare anyone put Tool up their with Opeth. They have like one good song and that's it. Their music is not extremely well put together. Just a bunch of experimental hogwash. Opeth is real. Tool is just a tool. Please excuse the pun.

  • @nomadicvampire Tool's rhythm section is excellent. Danny in particular is a fantastic drummer. Even Martin Lopez praised him...Laughable description of black metal too. Listen to Ulver's Bergtatt and tell me it's about synth and goth. The acoustic passages are incredible. Kinda similar to Morningrise, even though it came out before it...

  • I like when Black Metal growling bands step down and throw down on some melodious masterpieces like this one. This is real music.

  • Opeth is one the absolute best bands that ever existed in Sweden......................

  • @MrBeethoven123 Only to be superseded by the genius that is ABBA ... =P

  • I <3 Opeth

  • 5:18 YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHH!!!

This dude surely rocks - great timing for this yell! LOL

  • that guy new the crazy part was about to start!

  • @awesomeguy45 Well duh, but it's funny anyway :D

  • @wurstgitarre Probably some Viking or Power Metal dude (as some vocalists of such bands often yell that way). No offence

  • Lol "9:18 - 9:21"

Shut.... The fuck.... up. first time i ever heard him annoyed

  • hahaha lollll.... are sec..... SHUT.. THE FUCK..UP .. second record..... XD

  • w000000!!!!!.rock on Opeth...the best band on this planet!.fcuk cannibal corpse..fuck acdc..fuck all that bs!...THIS ROCKS

  • Excuse me, ACDC and Cannibal Corpse are not related at all!! Could you be more random? Maybe throw Britney Spears in there?

I agree about the latter, though. Fuck them.

  • @Eliasoz Well, they are related in the sense that they both in a way revolutionized and altered the "Rock/metal" genres. :D

  • @Eliasoz I agree Cannibal Corpse are not related to ACDC in any way Cannibal Corpse is way better!

  • Oops, I mean the former. Fuck Cannibal Corpse.

  • dude such a stupid comment lol...

  • Aye, I never foresaw a simple comment anda fit with a metric system fanatic would turn into an agrument about newtonian physics and terminal velocity... I feel so ashamed. (cries)

  • oke, so this is how it goes, If you fall you in principal accelerate with an acceleration of 9.81m/s^2, which translates into a force of mass times 9.81. however the faster you fall the more drag you create, this scales with the velocity squared, and with a coefficient that depend on the shape of the object. If the friction force is equal to the gravitational force you stop accelerating, the speed at which this happens is the terminal velocity. Clear now? BTW Opeth rules! especially this song.

  • btw Opeth is progressive death metal

that pretty much sums them up, maybe throw a 'melodic' in there or something

  • opeth doesnt belong to any of these fucking categories...even if it does, there is no reason to know it..just listen to this perfect music!

  • They're technically progressive but they basically play whatever the hell they want. ^^

  • fuck the metric system you pansies

  • WHAT im listening to opeth and now i have a masters in aerodynamics by reading the comments

  • this track reminds me from early deep purple sets like child in time (Mood is same) very good agonizer, i go and buy whole Opeth discography.

  • This song is MORE than just beautiful and Mikael Åkerfeldt saying STFU at 9:18was just hilarious. :D

  • "Shut the fuck up." lmfao

  • Very happy!! =) You earned a thumbs up!

  • This song is beautiful

  • that is an awesome song

  • most amazing band in the world

  • t wraio tragoudi!!!<3

  • I love how Opeth can be as soft as gentle breeze, or as heavy as the landing of a 20,000 ft. drop.

  • I agree to what you are saying, but I am going to give you a minus for not using metric units!

  • Fine then, 6451.612903 meters then, are you happy now?

  • Nice comment

I would add, it doesn't matter about

the distance you're falling from, you'll still

hit as fast as any object falling from the sky.

  • Not necessarily, each object has a terminal velocity and wind resistance and it depends how long you've been accelerating towards the ground, as well as if you have or haven't hit terminal velocity. So you won't hit as a fast as any object falling from the sky.

  • Nope, everything that falls from the sky no matter what it is, elephant bowling ball, travels at the same speed.

  • Really? A feather too?

  • Care to try to explain that?

  • No. Only in a vacuum. It depends on the air resistence of the objects.

But in a vacuum, a feather and a bowling ball accelerate exactly the same.

  • dwc6, wht are you on about?

are you forgeting about air resistance. I think wht you think your talkin about is gallalio (sorry bout spellin) dropped two different objects of different masses from a certain height and they hit the ground at the same time.

This test showed that objects will always ACELARATE the same dispite of mass, not velocity. (this don't work for objects that have different amounts air resistance on them)

    hope this helps...

  • But dude, that was not what I was getting at, so anyone that gave me thumbs down should read what I wrote one month ago, it's not a logical form of a test or strategy to find out something that has been seen, it's more of a saying, I can read over it and see some what of meaning in it to reflect upon myself.

  • so your saying...if I jump from 5ft above the ground and land I am landing at the same speed as someone who jumps of an airplane.

You need to think what you are writing before you post

  • No, it only works at one speed if you fall from a certain distance like at least 150 to 200 ft I dont know, Im not Jesus, or Science Master Roshie, but I just heard of that from alot of places, and on Mythbusters man, when they were catching up with parachutes, from that Patrick Swazy (or however his name is spelt) movie.

  • OPETH RULE!

  • my fav soft vocal Opeth song

  • I love this song and the album..... the concept is realy amazing.. i´ve made a tribute to it...with pictures that explain the story... hope you like it!!!

  • Best band EVER. No doubt.

    Still Life

    Still Opeth

  • see if your working out go for ghost of perdition but when your relaxing either this or windowpane for me.

  • or To Bid You Farewell...But this song is by far the most AMAZING....

  • Though it's hard to determine, i would have to say this is my favorite opeth song. Though their albums are better to listen to in their entirety! I fucking love Opeth...

  • Oh my Akerfeldt (God XD)

  • ExplodingGuy you got a tittyballs man XDDD

And yea, Heir Apparent blew WHAT FUCKING LEFT FROM MY BRAIN!!!!

  • "Shut..the fuck...up." That made me lol

  • Clearly, an example of a death-thrash-doom-heavy-light-punk-emo-core-70ish-80ish-90ish-classic-newage-rap-funky-eletro-dance-trance-mix-progressive metal band.

    /sarcasm off.

    Yes... labels can be bad!

  • LOL, especially in Opeth's case. A COMPLETELY unclassified band. Too breathtaking to be classified

  • I have classified them as OPETH...PERIOD....

  • Dream Theater , Opeth and Death are the best metal bands

  • Dude, all of those bands are awesome. DT, Opeth, Tool, Meshuggah, and Pink Floyd. Why the hell do we have to argue who's better. They all play music thats extremely well put together. Why can't we just say all of those bands pwn MTV products like Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco? So in other words, screw MTV

  • @Metalman659 You are absolutely right!!!!....finally someone...

  • @Metalman659 every band u just listed are some of my favorite bands of all time. i love evry band u just mentioned. u got a good taste in music i think ^^

  • @Metalman659 Pink Floyd all the way !!!

  • I approove 100% what you're saying !

  • hell eya i definetly agree James Labrie's voice just doesn't cut it for me, especially when he hits those high shrill notes like fivetimes in a row. they need a vocalist like akerfeldt.

  • they need to change their name

cus the band that portnoy , petrucci, rudess and myung are playing is not dream theater anymore

  • Well Said....OPETH is the ONLY....This is absolutely FUCKING AMAZING....

  • Doesnt Opeth mean like "City On The Moon" or something like that? From a book?

  • Wilbur Smith's novel "Sunbird".

A word in the book, Opet, which according to the book, meant "City of the Moon"

So they probably added the H in there to make it sound a bit cooler. =P

  • It reminds me of 70's prog rock.

Opeth are very special for me, like Porcupine Tree and Dreamtheater.

These textures on the songs, oh my God!!!

  • ever since I heard this song the melody stuck in my head ... so beautiful....

  • d only band which gets better with time... worship opeth... mikael is a god!!

  • This is such a mint song and such a great live album. I haven't stopped listening to it since I bought it on the day of release. Opeth rule, completely. New album will be EVIL as MA says. Can't wait.

  • yes

    have you heard heir apparent?

    oh my fucking tittyballs

  • magnificent

  • 7.20: the calm part followed by the dist.riff and the drums they blend together perfectly its so unreal. Thank you opeth for delivering such great music

  • Forte cazzo...

  • roundhouse is amazing and im so psyched for the new record. bring it OPETH !!!!!!!!!!

  • one of my favorite tracks and they did it with more than justice...^_^

  • fucking awesome ~_~

  • opeth realmente es lo mejor que piso este fuckin world

  • quality music that validates the many facets of metal.

  • this elektrik piano added such a new dark atmosfear on the track. fuckin awesome

  • fucking god...

  • god!

  • I'd even call it one of their best...the emotion present is incredible

  • Me too. It's my favorite Opeth album.

  • Same here. There are small flaws, sure, but every song is just incredible, with great emotion you don't get on all their live tracks, like you said. It's rejuvenated my love for this band.

  • Flaws? o.o

  • Opeth is like orgasmic music...pure unbelievable awesomeness..Mike has an amazing clean here and his growls are sick as hell in the doom/death stuff...pure awesomeness yet again.

  • Holy shit.. I believe I just exploded in my pants. Quality stuff right there.

  • In your pants?

  • clean song

    Opeth <3

  • +1, I put Still Life on the same level as any Opeth release.

  • "shut the fuck up"

  • Kinda liked the keyboards =)

  • His voice sounds so good in these roundhouse tapes.

  • +1.

It's particularly better in this song than in the album, IMO. More voice, less air.

  • thanks for the upload mate!
