  • I like the sound of it

  • WOO HOO!!!

  • American engines may be ugly, but they sure do have a lot of power!

  • Great vid !

how old is this machine ?

    and how strong is it?

  • it´s cutie, the great piece of history, the steam power = no problem with starters and electronic controls

  • Why do these torque monsters have such a hard time going up hill?

  • ooo that's beautiful

  • This is a beautiful piece of machinery, and I feel privileged to see it in action. I'm glad people restore and maintain these older machines. But why are some of the comments saying things like i'd like to see your new diesel tractor do that?

  • very nice

  • wow...

  • Class.

  • no shit lady, its a damn tractor haha.

  • That is so coool! Thx 4 the Vid!

  • HEY FARMBOYS: Let's see your new tractor do that!!

  • @9020powrmax our tractors could do that a lot faster, traction engines would take to long so i would just have one for fun

  • @dueltruckman Yeah,it is fun to watch them run under a good load. The torque is unbelievable..

  • @9020powrmax id power my house with one

  • You have your own steam machine, now You should build a rails :D

  • sounds like a lunkenheimer!

  • Woo that's traction!!!

  • Most impressive.

  • jeasus christ slow down !!! lol nice tractor awsome video

  • .... I want one...

  • Oh The Pwer Of STEAM!!!

  • Love the wistle

  • If the stuff comming out the top is not vapour, it's a pollutiong way to drive!

    Just kidding.

Great car, a lot of effort was put into it I can see.

    cheers

  • Doesn't look that steep. But I'm sure when you weigh 20+ tons it is quite steep.

almost didn't make it there for a second lol

  • Now that's a TRACTOR !!

  • Great engine.

  • ahh! its a tractor! I've been fooled!

  • Where was this video shot?

  • hope he had a full boiler of water

  • '' Chooo-OO-OOOOO!'' '' whoohoo'' lol!

  • thanks thank you......love it

  • Ha, nice whistle. Has that nice echo to it.

  • no breaks.....sh...t...what would happen if he stalled on the hill????nice vidio...

  • it has an obscene amount or torque. and they do have a brake i believe

  • simply amazing. these videos make me think long and hard of american old times.

  • Reminds me of my dad and his steam engine!

  • for a while i expected that the engine reversed by itself, like old landini tractors!

  • Love that sound! Nice video~

  • Truely a Treasure !!!

  • The tractor on the incline looked like it was an old painting come to life against the landscape, would make a great painting!

  • Does this have a feed water pump? How does the clutch on this steam tractor work? Nice and powerful tractor.

    Thanks

  • brilliantly enough, there is no clutch! no need, just control the flow of the steam. starts itself.

  • Oh, I thought that this engine could be disconnected from the wheels to become a stationary engine.

    Thanks

  • Steamers have a clutch, but no Breaks.

  • i think the clutch system is the same kind on a john deer A i don't know for sure

  • Yes, these do have a feed water pump and the clutch consists of two shoes that either engage or disengage on the inside of the flywheel.

  • Aw this reminds me of the little engine that knew he could knew he could....and he did ....Woot Woot!!! Loved it!

  • that is so cool.

  • muito legal este vídeo

  • very nice video

  • Lemme guess and see how far off I am;

Case 20-25, from the early '20s?

Sounds like someone put some real TLC into that valve gear, that timing is near perfect.

I earned my first coal shovel blisters at 13, on one very much like that, at the elbow of a man the same age as the engine, who had started on that same engine at the age of 5. Good to see the "religion" still going strong.

  • mate i gotta hand it to ya i dont think my 4X4 would have got up without struggle

Good stuff keep it commin 5/5

  • I love steam engines, especially those build for work like this one.. There's just so much.. power!

  • Thanks for all the comments this is 1 of my favories also.

  • i still lol at how they would build them so the operator got steam'd is he blew the whistle when the roof was on.

  • I've started looking at steam engines on my websites, feel free to take a look and tell me what you think

  • the clutch could fail? these things can drag like 20 tons up a 10% incline? or something ridiculous like that. I wouldnt coun't on anything failing while its driving itself up that hill. and those old steam engines have already lasted longer than ANY vehicle today will, and will probably still be around longer than todays disposable vehicles.

  • GoldsLifter,

We put a chain around the flywheel spoke and clutch spoke to prevent any clutch failure. It's really no big deal. The engine and steam do the work. It was 35 degrees that day and the steam looked worse than it would have on a hot day.

  • I think I can, I think I can! Woowooooooo!

  • Always have been amazed by these, seeing them at the Henry Ford Museum, Never though I could actually see one operate. Thanks

  • Sweeeet!

  • What a fantastic traction engine and vid thanks!..but seriously what would happen if she stalled or lost traction on the incline?

  • Good chance judgment going on incline with good clutch shoes otherwise clutch could failed to rollback. It happened like the one on incline hill accident and personal death last week in Indiana show ground. A plow pin would be advantage.

Great video. I rather be imagine it.

  • My dad still owns two of my great grandfather's steam engines - a Case and an Avery. We used to go to thresher shows across Kansas with Dad and the big tractors. The sound of the whistle brought back great memories of my childhood! Thanks for sharing! - A Yoder from Yoder

  • That gave me goosebumps! Great video, thanks!

  • awesome- nice plumes at the beginning and a nice whistle at the end.

  • Nothing beats the sound of a steam engine. It's gotta be over 1000 foot pounds of torque too.

  • If the price of gas keeps going up we may see people go back to farming with steam, much more beautiful then any new tractor, thanks alot for saving some history!

  • That reminds me,

Ive heard rumors that in poland, they are switching back to steam locomotives on some lines! I know its not the same like a traction engine, but its still steam, and steam is wonderful :)

  • It's not a rumor.. they still run steam because they cannot afford new engines.. some of the old engines have been running for 60+ years. I'd like to see any modern deisel engine do that.

  • thats really awesome :D

by the way, where was this filmed?

  • I enjoy running this Case. It's been part of the family since I can ever remember.

  • very nice )))

  • I think I can, I think I can, I think I can

  • Thanks for all the comments!

  • wouldnt that prime on an incline like that?!

  • You really made her bark!.

  • Thats great just keep comeing to watch!!

  • I have a Antique Tractor Forum Site and would like to have you as a member.

  • whats the year on this Case?

  • There was a man who brought his steam tractor to our Historic Farm Days Show in Penfield Illinois last July and he ran that thing down the track after the tractor pulling was done. He shoveled two bushel of wet sawdust in the firebox and you should have seen the shower of sparks! He was driving into a slight wind and the sparks flew back over the cab to make it look like he was going 100 MPH down the track. What a sight.

  • is that one of the steering tenders on it? do you know of any place i could get plans for one?

i help out on a 60 hp 1912 case at the antiques gas and steam museum.

  • Looks like a water cart

  • ya, it is

  • awesome! but yeah, it's just a case. Kidding. lol

  • Aw you gotta love it...even if it is only a Case! (smiling)

  • This is a really cool video! wounderful Case you have there! thanks for posting

  • Real good show boys!!!

    Thanks for the vid!

  • Wow!

  • Awesome!!!!

  • That thing is for real!
