comparisons of guitar players are actually problematic.

I´ve seen all the combos with all these famous guitar players.

I adore RB, JP, SRV, EC and many more, but nobody couldn´t reach the bottom of my soul and heart more than Rory.

The most who had seen him playing live, his eyes, his face felt this perfect package:

rusty strat or nat.steel, technique, passion, blues, integrity, heart, authenticity, ...

For me, and not only for me: Rory, best guitar player !

i wish people could learn how to speak more clearly when imparting their opinions - there is no GREATEST guitarist ever - or any artist/musician for that matter. there are people who are the greatest to YOU, & likewise to the masses, but in the end, to each their own. how can we really put rory up against jimi? how can we not throw john frusciante in the mix? bernard sumner, robert fripp, robert johnson - all GREAT, soulful guitarists, but so different. i hope you get my point.

@spherical23 I must admit that you are entirely correct. There are so many great guitar players and they all had there licks and style. I like Rory Gallagher, but Jimi was the great innovator. So, many other guitar players were great in what they do. They are all great musicians.

@spherical23 I fully agree with what you say about who is/ was the greatest. There is/ was lot of talent out there. I think its about who appeals to you and the type of music thay play. After all there is no formula as to say what makes one better than the other.Music is about enjoying what you hear. Live and let live
