  • FYI: I bought replacement batteries from you because of this how-to video.

  • This is too cool. I bought an APC XS 1000 that was kind of out of date. went to New York and trained to install "BIG" UPS systems for Leibert. The kind that have a special room filled with batteries, x formers, inverters, curt key dual services, and a gen set control. I also installed APC, Triplite, and other stuff, but when a battery went dead it was on a rack, not jammed in a consumer case with a funky Siamese connector. THANKS A MILLION APC! This video rocks! 2x 7.2 Ah batts and I am golden!

  • Are those batteries shown in this video standard 7.2Ah lead-acid batteries? They look pretty much that size but just to make sure.

  • @Ritari2000 yes those are 7.2 amp batteries. They are also avail. in a 9 amp with the same dimensions for longer run time during a power outage.

  • After swap the batteries, I will go to Powerchute 3.0 and I click in Replace Battery Date. I had made the self test and it is OK. Now, how I could really test if the new batteries are really OK ?

  • APC must design their charging circuits to fry with the first set. I'm on my third UPS from them that was dead when the new batts were bought and installed. I'm done with APC. Don't waste your money buying the RBCs.

  • Thanks a million for this video! I just returned home from the site visit and completed this task. I looked like a hero - thanks to your video tutorial. Thanks again! - Liz in ABQ

  • I replaced one of these recently. The two batteries were preassembled as one, so that made the replacement much easier. How long should the replacement battery take to charge? There is no "charging" LED on this unit. The red "replace the battery" LED is still lit even though the battery was replaced 30 hours ago.

  • Sir i mdoing business of UPS and often face a problem during replacing the batteries of UPS apc of software rest would guide me up dating the battery software of all models of APC.. Hoping best

  • Hello. I just bought an APC battery backup Model BE500R-AS to be used at home. Please pardon my ignorance or my lack of knowledge but is it okay to leave this ON indefinitely or should I turn it off whenever I turn off my computer (imac).

Due to the lack of a better detailed indicator of its processes other than a single light source and beep, how often does the batt backup run its self-testing?

    Thanks.

  • @bungalaix I contacted APC support asking the same thing, here is the reply to my question: Thank you for contacting APC's email support on 11/29/2010 02:32 AM. I would be happy to assist you.

It is best to turn Off the UPS after using the PC. The UPS will charge whether it is 'ON" or 'OFF'. The unit will charge whether there is equipment plugged in or not. However, in environments where the power quality is poor, it is recommended that the unit be off during this charging period.

  • also, overload == bad unit.

  • @killerdeamonking that not how it goes.

the yellow goes from one positive to the other negative and a black to one ground, red to the other positive. Its a 24volt system.

    (I work here(Redy Battery))

  • But i will say this i unplug the batery and hit the power button ok and it asks bor the battery then i plug it in then it runs the apc but the fan dosent kick on..

I had it turn on 2 times in battery mode by playing with it and it said replace the battery but i teseted the 2 batteries witha 12 vold computer fan nearly burning the fan out so i know the battery is good.

  • Im getting overload error but both batery's are good

  • if is possible, can you give me the cable diagram so i can try to make a new one?

  • @hmattar its really easy to make the cable if you have the plug that will fit ine the holder theres 3 wires 1 black 1 yellow and 1 red the black wire will connect to both negitive out puts whyle the red will go the the positive and the yellow go's the the second battery's positive and thats it

  • I lost this battery cable. Does apc sell it?

  • Very nice tuto.

    Tks for help.

  • Thanks,

This was a really helpful video:)
