@milky27oreo@TTC2755 All 73xx came with stainless steel in 1999. I don't judge by bus maker standards. However, NovaBUS can take all by 2013-16 roughly to award 180 Artics (3 years) and 325 40ft low floors (4 years). Let's see how it plays out Broski.
@TTC2755 Who cares, we can get any frames and I don't care if it's stainless, mild, or carbon whatever they want. All manufactures have the material, and New Flyer frames can "last longer in 18 years" than stainless. I'm done now.
@TTCOrionVII8100 Stainless Steel Frames last way more longer than Carbon. TTC does not want carbon because, it does corrosion overtime. Stainless steel does not corrode, rust or stain with water as Carbon steel does. because it would be cheaper to be maintained for the TTC. TTC only wants: corrosion-resistant frame's or in other names called Stainless Steel Frames. you will see in april TTC would not buy from New Flyer unless they use it. i had already explained it to you.
@transitfusion Dobt hold your breath man, there's a bid going on until April 2. P32PM12728 is gonna be 40ft buses for 2013-2016 and P32PM12729 is gonna be 60ft buses for 2013-2015. Bid is $1,000,000.00 each, however New Flyer or NovaBUS is interested.
@TTCOrionVII8100 remember what TTC said back in 2009 "New Flyer would not be able to provide a compliant bid in an RFP process" due to the corrosion-resistant frame material they do not offer yet. but again NovaBus and Orion does. But currently TTC never mentioned New Flyer or NovaBus officially yet. anyways we don't know the number of the Buses TTC would buy yet. i hope TTC does not retire the RTS'es early. like thw Wilson Orion V's. we shall wait for the Bid in April and see what TTC would get
@TTC2755 This was 2009, now they can do it again. NovaBUS IMO, I don't really think so its because of backlog orders for systems in Quebec. New Flyer could do it again despite GTA is getting Xcelsiors. TTC can't dispose all New Flyers because Queensway is a New Flyer Division for years. Were welcomed to get an XD40 and XD60.
Millennium, there's no way we can get any RTS Extreme nor Legend.
@TTCOrionVII8100 New Flyer does not use stainless steel frames. Ever since the 21st Century started. all surface buses TTC Purchased all have "Stainless Steel Frames". and TTC will not get any New Flyers until they use "Proper Requirements". and that report from 2009 is in effect from 2010-2019. unless TTC said somthing else out of the way which i never recalled hearing. XD40 and XD60. dont use the "corrosion-resistant frame material". only Novabus and Orion have proper specs.
@TTCOrionVII8100 the bottom line is. New Flyer can't be part of the Bid. until they use Stainless Steel Frames. and the frame rule was "never" changed. ever since.
Straight up ugly! All of MTA's low floors are pathetic except New Flyer. 90's and early 2000's was the best for NYC and LI buses. Now MTA is making the old buses they have quieter making buses just plain boring. Detroit Diesel Engines all the way!!
Does anything see anything wrong with this picture! NYCMTA wont buy New Flyer's low floor buses whereas they can buy Novabus low floor buses. Does anyone see the real reason why the NYCMTA is going with Novabus because there is a plant here in NY state whereas New Flyer doesn't. Special treatment at work!
@edgar5001 - Boston has different articulated buses, not these. These are NEW to New York City, this is not in Boston! Boston has Neoplan Articulated Buses
@Caitsith810 Plus the Boston artics operate sometimes on a trolley pole sometimes. Public Service of NJ had those buses in the thirties. They were called APVs All purpose vehicles.
@transitfusion not likely to happen because of delivery costs. NovaBus delivers from Quebec and Orion from Mississauga. For the TTC they just go to Mississauga and pick them upon being delivered from NY State.
@transitfusion toronto probly wont get these because i t will be to hard to minouver around the city we will probly get the nova lfs single part bus or newflyer xcelsior
