i am a 12 year blackbelt, but this is just sad. any dojo that would give so many awful kids black belts is incredibly terrible. some kids just do it for the black belt, so they go do dojos like this, but if they ever get attacked, they're an easy victim because the dojo teaches them nothing.
Wow! It's amazing how people can tell by watching a 2 minute and 34 second video how poorly these kids train. And it's not these kids giving TKD a bad name. It's the people claiming to be black belts talking bad about other martial artists that gives us TRUE TKD practitioners a bad name. People have forgotten the true essence of martial arts and what it means to be a REAL martial artists. It went from being about the ART to being about "you can't kick somebody's butt with that technique."
@no1touch maybe it's the black belt for kids? My school has both a child and adult system once the kid is old enough they move from kid blackbelt to adult colored belts.
I really do not understand why people say so much nonsense here. Probably they are not Instructors, they are not good martial artists. In Portugal we call you "sitting down coaches". You have an opinion on everything but only if you are sitting down and if you are simply not responsible for the outcome of things. I would love to see any of you have successful martial arts schools. You clearly couldn't because you know it all, right? LOL
i gained so much respect for taekwondo recently ... but these myosource ata tkd vids just seem like a mockery to the ofrm ... maybe its the instructor not really helping the kids like he should ... or the 8 yr old blackbelts ... idk ... i love to see traditional TKD tho :)
@no1touch It's just the kid black belts. In most, if not all, ATA schools, there's a "karate for kids" program, and then there's the adult program, which is more like what you'd expect a martial artist to go through and be able to do. Being a 3rd degree in ATA myself, I don't know if I'd call it "traditional" Taekwondo, but it definitely doesn't make it any less effective.
I'm a USNTF 2nd degree Tae Kwon Do black belt. And I personally don't think that the ATA is real TKD,Its more like a daycare to me.Considering how much me and my classmates had to go through to get our black belts and the ATA's black belt training is less intense than what the white belts at my Dojo go through daily!!!!!!
TKD kicks are great to learn but TKD punches and close range fighting does not. You dont wnat to get kicked by TKD but they are so easy to punch and dont revieved as much impact to the body to condition it.
@briansolorio97 dude ata has there own tournys and there are lots of schools in ata that go to nationals and worlds ata has like 4000 schools in the usa and more in othere countrys under wttf
this is against the relus of Teakwondo they have black belts but they do the training people get when they first join so they basicly wear a band they dont earned properly but then again at some schools its easy to earn a black belts at some its hard i prefer the hard ones then you know more and you worked hard to earn it :D
@himrules123456 im pretty sure this is there warm up (i have my black belt and i can tell you that they did a whole lot more than this to get them i hope and the first kid looks like he should atleast be a brown belt so yea
LOL, they dont even count i korean and there black belts! ITF is ten times better than this! I learned the stuff they were doing when I was a white belt!
@TheNabooMan dude wtf and itf are both good...this tkd class just suck,i am in wtf and our black belt trainning was harder than that....that class is just the worst of men history!
@kenjirott nor ata its bc some instructors dont train there student like they should and i think ata should put more regulation on training bc i know some schools that are easy and than there are others that it is like impossible to get a blackbelt
@waverip3rs dude if you wanna learn something here is what i reccomend. Wing chun. Muay thai. Kick boxing, any chinese martial arts. Screw karate and taekwondo most of those dont tech you shit
& this has ABSOLUTELY no practical benifit except strengthening the muscles, they'd get murdered against somebody who even had a week of training in sparring.
Well done for putting out another 5+ black-belt kids & degrading the public perception of Taekwondo even more
Waste of class time, strength or resistance training should be done either in a gym outside of training or encoporated as part of the training session like say an MMA practicioner. But doing stances/kicks is probably the weakest way you could go about building endurance/stamina & strength, we have departments of science devoted to this sort of shit the need for ''traditional'' methods in many areas isnt needed anymore
@tvrulesnation you expect 7 year olds to do strength training on your own. This is not just ata, most styles practice strength training, martial arts is not just sparring. Forms are important too. Maybe not in your opinion but to a lot of organizations
You can't debate your organisation won't compete with outside organisations such as ITF/WTF, ata has a high rate of black belts & isn't even owned anymore supposedly by the person who set up the organisation as he sold it for profit.
Yes forms are important not to the level many places do it too, forms shouldn't be a staple of class, forms don't teach you how to react (ie fight) simply how to move they have to be applied to sparring on some level.
They hand out black belts like candy. Anyone that is ignorant enough to sign a contract is charges for every little thing. A typical black belt test cost $500. Instructors in ATA schools are pushed to advance their own rank. To do so they must also meet quotas on student promotions. All student must break a boards for their brown belt test. Even if they already know how, they must attend a seminar on breaking.
The ATA is a closed organization that shuns any association with other TKD styles or schools. Their ranks are not recognized in Korea. They do not allow outsiders to compete in their tournaments. They also don't want their students competing in other TKD tournaments. They have 15 color belts. They charge high prices for watered down martial arts.
@tvrulesnation First off I know this is crap b/c 1- we dont have 15 belts 2- the Korean government invited ATA to Korea in 2005 for the aniversary of TKD. Look it up. Yes ATA has closed tournaments but they dont discourage students from competing in open tournaments. Just b/c someone reported something on yahoo doesnt mean that its fact. It's obviously crap.
I'm going to believe somebody who is a well respected martial artist over you who has had conflicts with ATA, i've seen videos too of your competitions & classes on the internet, its pathetic simple as. The organisation is a joke & is highly renowned by american martial artists for its belt contracts, what style of Taekwondo do you even do?
Talk to the user on yahoo answers if what he is saying is such bullshit, i'm sure he will explain in better detail than myself
check ataonline they have the belts and prices of the next national testing. It's fine if your ignorant b/c your misinformed but if you cant read the truth in black and white your stupid. And why do you care about making ata look bad anyway
In the 42 years that I've been involved with the martial arts the ATA is the number one rip off in my book. ATA schools are all over my area in Georgia. I have yet to see one teach anything that did not make me ill. Basically people are ignorant of what good martial arts are about. As such they are gullible and can easily get trapped into this kind of scam.
@thomashenryvillers
Yup, they don't fight/ kick like a black belt, there kicks are shit, hell my punch is better and I'm not a black belt. This is a disgrace.
