what tuning is this?

AadEaE. The low E,G and B strings are all tuned down. The "lowercase" strings have my Harmonic Capo applied to them, so those open strings get transposed up one octave.  Otherwise, it's perfectly normal ;)

do you use any particular string for the low A or that's the conventional low E string?

I'm using a regular E string, but it sure is loose when you tune it that low.  I think it's an 0.054 gauge.

Thanks for your comment. If you like this style of playing, you should check out folks like Erik Mongrain, Andy McKee, Don Ross and especially Michael Hedges. There's a lot of beautiful acoustic guitar music out there. As for my age... Well, I guess it's full disclosure time! I may not be any younger than your father. I'm 46 and counting... All the videos I've posted on YouTube (so far) are about 15 years old. Hopefully, I'll be able to record something new before too long.
