  • do you ever use mora knives

  • @1bushcraftboy

Frequently, I have 30 which I use with students. They are an excellent knife.

  • is that a custom knife?if so wher did you purchas it? im a knifemaker (in training) and also eleven and love knives

  • Sean and Chris Brilliant Idea!!!! on the sheath as well as the Knife... great Clip thanks for sharing Boys.. Rod

  • The knife is pretty nutty looking but i think it would be perfectly practical in most situations. i mean its a knife, a machete, a hand axe & i could even see it being an ok hammer if you need it to be. if i wasn't dirt poor i would totally buy this knife & use it to its full potential. well done guys :)

  • @espressosoup

    Thank you.

  • @espressosoup dirt poor? having access to a comp is hardly dirt poor. have u been to a third world country where some ppl are literally going hungry?

  • @Glivity theres a thing called debt and net worth you know.

  • Sean, as was asked earlier, when Chris gets to the point where I could get one of these just as shown in your vid, please let me know . Also, wait time and price ..really Nice!!! Great Work! I want mine EXACTLY the same as this one!!!

  • Sean, as was asked earlier, when Chris gets to the point where I could get one of these just as shown in your vid, please let me know . Also, wait time and price ..really Nice!!! Great Work!

  • where can i buy it?

  • @MrJapaneseboy1111

At the moment you cant but Chris is working on getting it available for purchase.

  • I can't see for the life of me, why one would need a blade that long. If I am in a survival situation where wood needs chopping, I wouldn't use a knife. One would save much more energy, if food is an issue, just by searching the ground for better wood. Quartering small game with a blade that long isn't practical either. Personal defense is the only scenario that i see that knife practical but from who if it's a survival scenario? The lump on the blade only seems like an added weight factor.

  • @Bmack119

The blade is only 5 1/4 inches long so not that long. The hump is used as a grip. I have several videos on my channel of me using my knife in the different grips. This knife is a one off designed for me. Its not being offered for sale.

  • i want one but id have to give the blade a makeover i love a traditional look

  • Well atleast your better then Mike Dixon, i.e. you don't ban people for making negative comments.

    Cheers

  • @teb0atoz

Why would I ban anybody. The only comments I remove are ones that contain swearing or are insulting other users. Thanks

  • @teb0atoz I was not saying you had banned anyone just that you don't. I just found one site Dixons where I made a comment in jest and now I can not reply.

Not sure on my take on your knife but it is interesting.

    cheers

  • I don't know whether this was your intent, but the knife has a slight seax-ish look to it. Did you base it off the design or was it just more coincidence? Just curious. Anyways, that is a mighty fine looking blade you got there :D

  • @AkiraKunitachi

To be honest the knife was designed around a list of tasks I wanted the knife to preform and then incorporate those tasks into a blade.

  • @seanmulhall Ahhhh, thank you for satisfying my curiosity :D And like I said earlier, it's a mighty fine lookin' blade that you've managed to produce.

  • how much would it cost for 1?

  • I also am a knife maker. I have designed a knife that is similar. A bit longer and curved slightly forward, but very similar. I really like the sheath.

Good job on the knife. The handle is a good shape. I like the extra weight on the spine for chopping. It looks like it was designed for heavy chopping use.

  • @frankgon4 Its excellent as a chopper, but by being able to hold the hump as a grip allows the user to apply pressure directly over any portion of the blade.

  • Sean, love the knife, looks like a GIANT Nessmuk, great video!

  • i didnt hear his name but the maker of the blade seemed really attached to it and looked like he liked it. did he make one for him self?

  • @OregonBackpacker You are right about the attachment to this knife, over the months developing the design we both formed an attachment. Chris has not made one for himself as I got to keep the prototypes. Chris as a custom knife maker puts a bit of himself into all of his knives so therefore there is always a certain amount of pride in all of his work.

  • Nice knife, very clever designed sheats. Only 1 advice for future works, build a fire a little to the side so that smoke doesn't disturb the camera focus. its really getting in the way

  • Curious as to what make a knife a bushcraft knife? What is the difference betweenm a bushcraft knife and any other type of knife? Great videos by the way.

  • where i am from in brasil we use machetes that are nice to cut through brush and thorn i like this.

  • How can I purchase one?

  • i need one no im kidding i might buy a marbles cam cleaver

  • Great job!!!!!!!!!!! COOL!!!!!!!!!

  • fooking lovely that knife sean and chris

    malc

  • The length is actually what bothers me about my parang or at least the sheath for it. The loop at the bottom sits right over my knee. What I plan to do is put two loops on either side and improvise. One plus is that it does hang well, not too close to my side.

  • Robust looking knife. Nessmuk would like this one too. Sean: off topic but can you make a video on making your shirt?

  • Ingenious design, kudos to everyone who put work into this blade and sheath.

Looks like an excellent chopper, and I'll bet is great for butchering game as well.

I spend most of my time in the pine woods of the southern US, and a knife like this would be very useful.

  • Great job on the smock. I'm going to have to do something like that.

  • Sean. Love the knife. A bit off topic but what is the shirt you are wearing? Thanks.

  • Its smock that I made from an old wool blanket. Its to my own design. Ideal for cold nights or sitting around the fire.

  • i really like it. i'm hoping on getting a nice wool blanket just for sleeping.

  • how much was that ol boy??

  • is it high carbon steel or stainless?

    nice knife!

  • Carbon Steel

  • interesting design, pretty unorthodox looking but i bet it's fantastically durable. 5*

  • That's a very nice and useful looking knife. Good design. Can be used as a knife and a hatchet. All in one. 5/5. Chris

  • Thanks for your kind words, it means a lot.

I'm impressed with your work also, great craftsmanship, my hat is off...

  • Very nice looking knife Sean. Great work Chris!

  • cool :)

  • beautifull work guys, the knife looks a bit like a dolfin with a long tail.awesome.

  • It's reminescient of a 19th century American Nessmuk design, just larger.

  • I see that knife and it reminds me of the words in Crocodile Dundee.. "Thats not a knife, this is a knife!"

  • 5/5m8

  • The Dangler idea is a fantasic idea! I am diggin that knife. Excllent .

    Nice description

    5*

  • Really interesting video! Chris is fascinating discussing his work.

  • 1095 is used alot in America actually. All my knives I own are either 1095 or D2.

  • chris grant is so cool,

  • dude, the Romans had swords smaller than this knife! :o

looks like a cool nessmuk like chopper, but it'll need the company of a smaller knife fer sure

  • Great knife! Both of you have done a nice collaboration. Chris I have been using 01 for 17 yrs here in the USA. I think its the finest tool steel for stock removal knives. When forging I will use something different but you have made a nice choice.

    Congrats on ur project!

  • Thanks a lot for your kind words & the vote of confidence on O1.

I am currrently forging some 52100 & surplus circular saw blade steel.

    Best wishes

    CG

  • emm makes me think of replacing my kukri

  • Sort of reminiscent of some of nessmuk's thinking.

Gorgeous knife and sheath. I have no doubt it'll be a serious chopper. How does it do on fine work?

  • I was hooked at the sheath, THEN I saw the knife and am absolutely in love with the whole package! Fantastic work of art! now, how can i get one? how much will it cost?

  • Well done mates! Looking forward to part 1b! 10/5

  • Lookin good, but looks heavy as hell lol

  • The knife weighs 650g. Remeber the knife is perfectly balanced when held around the choil.

  • wow what a beast of a knife! impressive. I really like it. i second RoscoeBa, kudos to you both!

  • One of the nicest sheats I've ever seen. The knife looks very nice and practical as well! A well earned 5/5!

  • well thought out good job guys ile stick with my kukuri though

  • What a gorgeous work of art. Truly wonderful. Kudos to you both!
