  • Does anyone know if there's a copy of the full anthem start-to-finish out there with these same singers? Even with the accent, I really enjoy this version with no music, but can't find anything like this anywhere... Thanks!

  • 20 people have not defected!

  • why cant the USA have nearly a cool anthem like this

  • @chasem5657 because you are not proud of america, thats why. both anthems represent the best ideas and beliefs of their respective countries. I like the soviet anthem too, but america will still be the best.

  • @demonhunter5520 I dont know about that I think the USSR anthem is better than the USA anthem its more moving

We see the future of our dear country

Selflessly true we forever shall be

  • American accent anyone?

  • @Zukhov1945 I don't mind, as it makes it easier for me to try to memorize, not speaking Russian.

  • actualy this is the first time i hear americans speaking russian

  • @W2QYVkz789 Спокойно они жили если бы не стало пиндостана

  • your vid lags ROYALY

  • Learned this song in the US Army in the 70's....I was the Threat Forces Officer in my unit...Went "Whole Hog, including the postage!!" figured I should do it right! BTW: We had native Russians to teach us the correct pronunciation, not Hollywood....

  • On this recording (from the soundtrack CD), the crew of Red October submarine sings the refrain and then the last verse of the 1977 lyrics. They sing with an American accent.

  • ILMAO ACCENT!! xDDD

  • Comment removed

  • Since I'm a Slavic speaker I actually understand words more clearly than those sung by ethnic Russians. Interesting.

  • well sounds good anyway!!

  • Have 14 people lost ANOTHER submarine?

  • @14575019 No they didn't give one ping only!!!

  • @mikjon67 Or they sound like whales humping, or some kind of seismic anomaly.

  • @14575019 No, they're just Americans ;-)

  • @Bullfrog91945 As am I. 19 people sound like whales humping; or some kind of seismic anomaly. By the way, Americans triumphed in the movie. Hunt For Red October ended with American triumph; so the 19 people would be Padorin, all the guys against Mr. Ryan, and jealous Soviets.

  • @14575019 more like twenty

  • @usmctate True, but 7 months ago, it was less.

  • very cool song especially acapella

  • even if they dont know russian its still a good attempt better than mine

  • ussr ?? what letter stands for Rosja? and here cccp? no commander is able to offend his troops, politicians can.

  • @poszolwon Jestem Polakiem. Zpowazaniem, Janusz.

  • ussr ?? what letter stands for Rosja? and here cccp?

  • ussr ?? what letter stands for Rosja?

  • @poszolwon u asshole. USSR is for Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

  • i think it was intended to be this (sorry if i offend anyone if i call it this but) half assed. think about it by this point the soviet union was basically past falling apart and nobody cares about the ussr anymore and just want to forget about it and move on so its symbolic in a way

  • 0:00 to 0:30, If you listen closely, you can hear some in in the background speaking in english, sounds like a movie crew or something.

  • Ma najbolja himna na planeti, pozdrav braćo Rusi iz Beograda

  • Druze Tito mi ti se kunemo.

  • Good? To an American, this sounds beautiful. To a Russian, this would sound atrocious. It would be like if a bunch of Russians with thick accents, sang the Star Spangled Banner.

  • @Omnikron228 Atrocious? Maybe, but I've heard the Red Army choir sing the English WWI song "Tipperary" with thick Russian accents, and the accents only made it sound *more awesome*.  Maybe Russian voices are just naturally fantastic. ^^;

  • like this you think it has a better tune than the star spangled banner, and no, i'm not being un-american

  • The accent is present enough for a Norwegian who has only studied Russian for two years to hear it.

  • Anyone have any idea how someone would find more music in this same style? I love this kind of ominous, powerful, Soviet style of music, but I have no idea how to find more! Any help would be much appreciated.

  • @KNVBKing try pandora.com

  • This is not the films's version

  • I have the soundtrack of the movie, but this song wasn't in it? Why?

  • Someone please translate?

  • This sounds nothing like Swedish!!!

Seriously, the real soviet anthem could be misheared for Swedish, with the the corous saying "Stackars negerslav"=Poor negrow slave. It's even more funnier if you know both languages :)

  • watch?v=9qkd5SaUyjI Seen this by any chance?

  • russian is a very dificult language i can read kyrilic but thats al

  • It's not difficult if you are a Slav. :)

  • weird

  • biggest accent ever!!!!!!!

  • FUCK USA ASSHOLES YOU'RE FINISHED

  • Fucking commies.

  • I AM RUSSIAN TOO I IMMIGRATED TO ODESSA IN 2000 I MISSED HEARING THIS SONG LONG LIVE THE PEOPLES UNION!!!

  • Славься, Отечество наше свободное,

    Дружбы народов надёжный оплот!

    Партия Ленина сила народная

    Нас к торжеству коммунизма ведёт!

  • If you think this is bad, you should hear Connery's Russian in the film. I had less of an accent on my first day of Russian 101.

  • This would be PERFECT for russian chipmunk movie.

  • I'm becoming depressed by this...

  • no wonder it sounded funny

  • Where did you get this?

  • true. accents and dialects are scripted

  • Hey... why don't you all search for "Wenn alle Untreu werden" that anthem pwns this red weakass theme... and picturing george bush in there is no honor you know...

  • HOLY SHIT! That is George W. Bush holding that hammer!

    I KNEW IT!!!!!

  • hahaha

  • Wasn't this sung at the closing ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver?

  • actually, the words are changed. im originally polish, but the languages are very similar. the words were changed after the fall of communism. the epic melody has never changed.

  • Most beautiful anthem.

  • @felnaris well this and "Хеј Словени", the anthem of Jugoslavija.

  • @felnaris I concur

  • One chorus and one stanza are off, lol!

  • SVB222 your quite correct their accents are completely off, nice voices though

  • Long live the gread Soviet Union!. Also I cannot seem to find this recording anywhere. Where exactly did you get it?

  • LOL

They don't know Russian. I can tell by their accents that they probably have no idea what are they talking about. I would know because I am Russian

  • @SVB222 It's still sung well, and at least it introduced me and others to the beauty of the anthem.

  • Yeah, I am just pointing it out :)

    I'm surprised they tried O.o

  • @SVB222 Too much time and money to fill the cast with Russian extras though.

Have you ever heard the "Soviet March" from the Red Alert 3 game? It's on youtube

  • Yeah, you noticed that too? I'm learning Russian and don't consider myself great, but I completely noticed the horrible pronunciation and accent. I've listened to the national anthems of USSR and Russia plenty of times before and when I heard this I cracked up laughing.

  • @DarkAnderebu

When I am listening to this I end up facepalming

  • @SVB222

    i believe your right.

  • @SVB222 this is an American movie. Made in the US.

  • @SVB222 Not a lot of Americans speak (or sing) Russian ... :-(

  • @SVB222 I don't speak a word of Russian and it still sounds odd. Also, Russia seems to have a knack for producing basses, which none of these fellows sound like.

  • @SVB222 Just like Dutch. No one ever understands us. XD

  • @SVB222 American film. The main character who is supposedly from Lithuania doesn't sound remotely Eastern European.....

  • @SVB222

Yep my favorite even though not the 1977 anthem of the Soviets is the rock Federation anthem sung by Nikolay Rastorguyev.

  • @SVB222 This aversion of soviet anthem is singing by american actors. You should not be wondered that they can not sing it well

  • @SVB222 its a F&%$*ing movie!

  • @SVB222 I heard some of the singers were Ukrainians.

  • @SVB222 dude, you suck

  • @SVB222 yah I heard that alot when I was in Russia alot of out American made movies about Russia are so far from accurate what a Shame to Disgrace such a Fine Country

  • @gaycowboy31 During the Cold War, how do you think that USSR television shows and movies portrayed the US?

  • @scyldschefing well this too is true it was probilly the same way on both sides

  • @scyldschefing Same way the US pictured Soviet Union...with a poopload of bias.

  • @Jh5kRadio Congratulations, that was my point.

  • @SVB222 I heard they had Russian actors who immigrated to the US but their rejection of the Soviet Union was such they refused to sing the anthem, so that probably affected the tone your hearing. It's just what I heard.

  • @SVB222 I can tell that and I'm Dutch.

Whether or not they know Russian, it is a very good anthem still. Probably my favourite.

  • @SVB222 I sang in a chorus for Shostakovich's 13th symphony in Russian. For a person used to Western European languages, the pronunciation was so unusual to me that I cringe to think about how much I must have messed up the Russian...

  • @SVB222 but i t sounds like the russian chors and for english atking actors its not bad i would say

  • @SVB222 Yepp , I'm a russian too , these singers dont really sound russian at all

  • @SVB222

Of course they dont know.. I guess they are american actors. But it seems that they are trying to catch the feeling, you know.

  • @SVB222 yes i am not russian but i am Lithuanian and i know that there is huge accent

  • @SVB222

Everyon should have the right to sing the hymn of the free ;)

  • @SVB222 i don't know russian, i can't do a russian accent, but god damnit, do i still try and sing this in russian!

    much love from england.

  • @SVB222 Being produced for an American film this does not surprise me. It is a very beautiful anthem and it seems they were able to do its beauty some justice in this performance. Certainly having a non Russian accent has effected it but this is still nice to listen to.

  • @SVB222

They speak better Russian than you speak English

  • @glamdring999 there is a different between singing and talking. And SVB222 have right.

  • @SVB222 eh they tried, it is a movie...not a documentary

  • @SVB222 Well, I actually don't understand any more than 3-4 russian words and i don't know the translated lyrics of your anthem, THOUGH it is the ONLY national anthem that touches me...!

  • @SVB222: I know the anthem by heart, and its meaning, too, but I couldn't see any big differences. Of course the accent isn't so "russian"...

  • @SVB222 I know this anthem and your right, at some points the pronunciation is a little bit crappy but it don´t stop it from being the greatest anthem =)

  • @SVB222 wow, you're fucking russian. who gives a fuck!

  • @SVB222 They're singing in American accents, I heard the real USSR Anthem, and they're actually speaking Russian

  • @CommentaryX Wrong! Real communism has all this. Only naive, unworldly ignorants' imagination of communism doesn't.

  • @CommentaryX finally someone actually said the truth. The Soviet Union(and even more the Peoples Republic of China) are grand hypocrisy's. Human beings by nature(genetics) of survival are not meant to live in such a system of mediocrity.Without competition and the drive to achieve as indivduals there is no innovation.

  • Хаха, жесть! Всё наржаться не могу. :)

  • гигантский...can someone translate this to english please...but do it with Russian pronounciation... thank you in advance

  • =o) adjective gigantic giant huge giantlike gigantesque mammoth Cyclopean gargantuan jumbo
  • Hymn of the Soviet Union or National anthem of the Soviet Union. Lyrics by Sergey Mikhalkov and Music by Alexander Alexadnrov

  • any1 no what the actual name of this song is

  • The National Anthem of the Soviet Union

  • Long live the Soviet Union!

  • Great! A very simple version of the Anthem.

  • SHIT! I accidentally rated 1 when I meant 5.

    sorry, communism rules

  • happy Nov9! The wall is gone!

  • Many East Germans liked the former past actually.

There was a recent poll done on it in which about 50% said life was better under the GDR

  • @yakooza

Lot to do with Communism, but Communism failed it cannot be substained because politicians will always be correct. A one party system such as communism will ensure that politicians can easily enrich themselfs over the backs of the people.

  • @Muhammedloveskids

"Communism is a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general."

By theory it is rather democracy on its highest scale.

Communists uphold this definition. Many of them are actually very critical of Stalin and of the whole Soviet Union itself.

  • its a shame basic human nature prevents the system from working.

  • I seen this argument so many times but never with any explanation. Communism doesn't seem for everyone to be perfect human beings.

While at the same time, supposes people arent inherently evil douchebags who only care about wealth

  • It's called insitutionalization, but I doubt 50% of East Germans want communism back I'd love to see the source of that claim.

  • horrible anthem

  • Muhahah, their accent is funny!

  • it is funny

  • I just recently red that THEY ARE PRESERVING LENIN´S CORPSE IN SOME LABORATORY.

Lenin looks like he is in sleep...

  • Not true.

Lenin's body is on display to the public. He is not in "some labratory". They give him a bath and a change of clothes every 3 months.

  • He is preserved, right? And,he is in public,in Red Square, right? Lenin's Mausoleum? Where he will sleep for the years to come.
